Once you get past the looks on the exterior and the interior… You will be in breakfast taco heaven! The barbacoa was a little too greasy for my taste But the carne guisada, and country sausage and egg were delish! The habanero chile they give you has such a good flavor, but damn it packs a punch!

Fabulous tacos, cute family owned restaurant. Everything is reasonably priced. I recommend the Bean & Cheese, Fajitas with Guacamole, and Carne Guisada tacos! And the Arnold Palmer!

Not even worth 1 star. Save your money. Salsa was the worst I’ve ever had. Food was mediocre. Only good thing was chips and tortillas.

This is one of our favorite neighborhood places to get great tacos, caldos(soups), carne guisada, tortillas and other delicious Mexican food. It’s in a quiet south east side neighborhood in a small building, and family run. The service is friendly, and you can call in orders ahead. My neighbor says they also will deliver, but we’ve never used this service. The food here truly is made with love — the homemade tortillas are fabulous(my favorite is the corn), and everything else is full of flavor. My boyfriend says the iced tea is just like his grandmother made. This is authentic San Antonio Mexican food — you can’t go wrong here! Check out a cool old neighborhood while you’re there — go out a couple of blocks to Walters St., and head south across I-10 to Highland Park where you’ll find great 20s craftsman bungalows, smaller Tudor style, and other examples of great older homes. It’s a somewhat undiscovered area that’s rich in history and very nice! Skip the touristy places and check out a homestyle restaurant with excellent food!

This is the hidden jewel of San Antonio. It is a hole in the wall family owned business that serves the best breakfast tacos in the city. Mary, the matriarch of the family, and the face of Mittman’s, always has a smile on her face and goes out of her way to make you feel like your just walked into her kitchen at home. The chilaquiles tacos are the best I have ever had, and I’ve had them from the north-side to south-side, and from the east-side to the west-side. Everything on their menu is awesome. Fresh homemade tortillas that melt in your mouth. I have lived in California for the last twenty years and every time I get off the plane this is where I go. If you want tourist hit La Margarita or Mi Tierria. If your looking for food Mittman’s is your place
