This isn’t the first time this has happened and it will be the last time I ever visit this location. Lubys isn’t the way it used to be and it hasn’t been for years. The food prices have gone up and the quality has gone down tremendously. How can you serve burnt food to a customer in drive thru? Because that is exactly what I got along with my husband’s food. For an 8.99 and 9.99 combo, I should get a giant piece of chicken fried steak and not a burnt tiny piece of «meat.» My husband’s fish was the burnt like mine. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of my husband’s food, because he was just livid and threw it away. We don’t live close by so going back to complain wasn’t an option. We called and of course no one answered. Save yourself the time and money and get a decent meal elsewhere where it won’t be black as night.

Lubys is a San Antonio staple. I am not sure if it will ever get back to the original delicious cafeteria it once was but it has improved since a slump in previous years. If you are not from San Antonio, this once was a place you ate lunch or dinner at least once a week. The food was authentic cooked from scratch deliciousness. Today it is a place to eat if you’re tired of the same olé restaurant you typically frequent. This particular location has a breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday. For the pricing, it is worth a try. I recommend signing up for the email alerts. I’ve been getting bogo coupons which is always great.

I’ve lived in San Antonio for eight years and finally tried Luby’s! It was great. On Tuesday, All Luann combo plates are $ 6.00! It comes with a half order of meat(I got the lemon fish and my son got fried chicken-2pieces), two side dishes and a huge roll! Yummmmy. My daughters kids meal came with chicken tenders, two sides, a roll, jello cubes AND a drink for $ 4.99… can’t beat that! Food was good(a little too much mayo on my fish)… Overall, great food for the price — we WILL be back.

My family ate at this location this afternoon for a late lunch. I had the fried fish and tarter sauce, cabbage and mashed potatoes and gravy; it was just as delicious as I can remember from my childhood. The service was prompt and cheerful! We were very impressed with the quality of food. They were still putting out fresh food even with it being later in the day. We will definitely be back to this particular Luby’s.

Love lunch at Luby’s and dine here at least once a week. However, avoid their Saturday & Sunday morning breakfast. Probably the worst meal I have ever eaten. Every single item on our plates was cold & greasy. What a disappointment.

I grew up going to luby’s, so believe me when I tell you one star is warranted. First of all, on this particular visit I watched an employee drop a piece of liver on the counter and then pick it up and put it back with the rest of the liver and onions. Secondly, when I asked the server to cut me a new piece of fried fish for my Luann plate, he refused and insisted it was fresh and had only been cut 6 – 7 minutes ago. Um hello, that’s not fresh! My cornbread was hard as a rock, and even butter couldn’t save it. Lastly, the entire dining area smelled like urine, talk about appetizing! Needless to say my family decided we would never be coming back.

Luby’s is amazing. I’ve been going since I was a child. It brings home cooking and memories back to me every time. I enjoy the warm service. One downside was the drive thru. It seems like they are short staffed in that department. But my order was right. But I could gotten off the car and would have been quicker. The tea is to die for. Like crack. Yum

I have eaten at Luby’s since I was a child. Some of my fondest memories were going with my grandmother weekly. I have always loved their Luann player with the fried fish, it was my favorite meal there. Every since they went from their«tea and coffee ladies» walking around the restaurant with their carts, to waiters and waitresses strolling around offering to fill your drink, it has gone downhill. I decided today to run in for lunch at the location at Blanco &1604. I went through the line and ordered my usual and was told it would be 3 – 4 minutes… not a problem, I’m a very patient person. Then I sat at my table for 10 minutes with the waitress in my section hopping from table to table, all except mine. It was after those 10 minutes that she finally decided to greet me, but by that point I had finished my veggies and never received my entrée. The manager, as he should have, comped my meal… but I will never be back. I know one bad review will not deter the thousands of senior citizens who flock there weekly, but I was so disappointed that I had to put my two cents in. Luby’s, you have officially lost my business.

I just love Luby’s. Cafeteria line style, always good home style cooking that’s hot and fresh. Where else can you go and get Jello and chocolate pie with your lunch? ;) It was a tad bit expensive I felt, but everything was super delicious and they gave me a box to take my leftovers home in, so I didn’t leave upset. I can’t wait to go back!

I can always depend on Lubys for home cooked meals. I love going there I guess not just because of the food but because it just brings back so many good memories. As a kid, after church, Lubys was the place for lunch. So it’s very nostalgic for me, standing in line with my tray and trying to decide what to pick for lunch. I always get the«Lu Ann» platter, I guess I always will. I’m have never had a bad meal there. The selection is great and service is always friendly. Maybe in 20 – 30 years if they are still around you might see me there but this time I will be in my motorized wheelchair, still ordering the«Lu Ann» platter :).

The famous Pappas Brothers of Houston bought luby’s out several years ago and we wondered why this acquisition was made. They revamped the menu, kept some favorites and added a level of service that they are widely known for.(Think pappasitos and pappadeux) I have eaten at Luby’s for dinner and lunch on many occasions but never thought to try them for breakfast. Today we got the surprise of a lifetime. Quality food, that was inexpensive for a family and unlimited quantities. That’s right for $ 5.95 a person you can eat as much as you want. And the food is delicious. I got the Migas today and I don’t think I have ever had better. No salsa needed… So yummy. The selection is plentiful and my kid loved getting all the pancakes she could consume. :) the service is outstanding. They bring anything more you need to you. Be sure to tip them. I am sure it’s appreciated. We will for sure be back!

Love the home-cooking, only 4 stars as it’s kind of pricey.

The food is hit or miss here. I have always LOVEDLUBYS, you can usually eat really quickly, you get to see your choices, and I think there should be a cafeteria revival. l would love to see more cafeteria style restaurants(that aren’t junky buffets). Sometimes I have come and the food is incredibly fresh, other times it has seemed like it had been sitting out since lunch. Last night I had the Baked Fish, Fried Okra and Broccoli… the Fish was OK, the Broccoli was good but the Fried Okra seemed old. If Lubys dropped their priced $ 1/$ 2 I may not have felt the need to say anything. The staff is usually very nice and helpful.

Great food, great management since always. I like devouring the roast chicken and my oh my poor bacon cheese steak when I see it. It’s tough getting 2 sides only, they all look tempting.
