Went a few weeks ago on a Saturday. Pretty packed sat next to the baristas so got to see them prepare our hot coffee. Very good will definitely be back.

Coffee is amazing. I ordered just the standard coffee with a pastry and beats Starbucks, hands down. What made the experience better was the customer service. The attendants behind the counter were friendly and courteous. Support your small businesses and buy local.

Came in on a Saturday night about 8:25 p.m. for a small dessert and coffee. My husband and I were disappointed to learn that there were no desserts. I had a Chai latte which was fine, but nothing great. The espresso was very good.

First time visit to Local coffee in San Antonio. What a treat! Great coffee and great vibe. Would highly recommend! They explain exactly what beans they are using for every drink. Everything was sharp when I visited. Good job!

I asked for a latte macchiato but the person didn’t know what it was and then proceeded to explain to me that a latte and a macchiato were two different cup sizes, which I already knew. I just got a macchiato because I didn’t want to deal with the hassle. They said that if I didn’t like my drink I could get another one which was nice. My macchiato tasted like burnt beans and I don’t think I come here again. I prefer Fairview and Halcyon. Ironically Starbucks came out with a new drink a week later, the latte macchiato!

This place has a nice casual vibe and the barristas seem cool. We ordered the chai latte and cappuccino and they were both delicious. A little pricy but definitely equivalent to starbucks. I enjoy this place much better as well.

I’m a fan of Local Coffee. Good coffee. Good options. Snacks. Lots of seating. Lots of windows. Not too loud. Not too crowded. Good place for all of your usual coffeeshop activities: study, read, hang out with friends, use wifi, etc. My cappuccino was great. Service was pretty fast. And it’s not Starbucks(not there’s really anything wrong with Starbucks except that the lines are CRAZY and the coffee, let’s be honest, is just okay). They’ll definitely get more of my business in the future. Support Local Coffee(I’ll admit — I’m smiling a bit typing that)!

What can i say about this place that hasn’t already been said? The coffee at local coffee is exceptional. From their ice coffee to their pour over to their perfect expressos! Currently into soy cappuccinos and lattes. Both excellent, and the flaked ice is a nice touch for the iced drinks. Atmosphere is nice. Can get pretty crowded with people who plan to be there for at least 4 hours. Nice patio though. i recommended to a friend, and all of their friends.

For the price and other reviews, this coffee place was a great disappointment. It was within walking difference from our AirBnB so I was excited by that til we tried their drinks. The Americano was weak, lacked flavor as well as the all important crema. The hot chocolate(with«homemade chocolate») was milk with a bit of flavoring added. You had to look for the chocolate flavor. I like local coffee shops and the simplicity of this menu(because it tends to indicate they want to do a few things well). They did offer mugs/cups for inhouse drinks which is super. They use local roasting, from what I can tell. However the staff were unremarkable and the drinks even more so.

The hot chocolate and coffee are delicious. The vibe is great, and seating is plentiful. I love the area and all other things above enough to come back, but… 1. The wifi is very slow. 2. The attractive Asian guy that works there is consistently pretty rude. Everyone else is always polite, though! I would recommend this place to a friend.

I really like Local Coffee, as the espresso is divine and the service is awesome. Prepare to be surrounded by Alamo heights professionals, students, and hipsters. There is generally Aniyah space to find a place to work, but it does get rather crowded during peak hours on rainy days. They get their pastries from Bakery Lorraine, which pretty much guarantees that everything is going to be fabulous. My classic is a latte and a chocolate chip peanut cookie, which is the perfect sweet/salty combination for my palate. If Eric is working, I’ll go out of my way to chat with him and leave a hefty tip. They have one drink that is espresso over Amy’s ice cream, which is decadent and a lovely treat on an afternoon after a test.

Love my local coffee. During the hot weather I usually get their iced chai latte which is absolutely yummy. It’s a generous serving. I love stopping by real quick and picking up my coffee and maybe a pastry they sell from bakery Lorraine.

This was my first local coffee I ever went to so I’m going to write a review on this one. I’ve always appreciate the service here. I also used to work at a coffee shop that shut down not to far from here with one of the current employees, so it makes it easy to appreciate it when it’s a friend. But without being biased, even on days where my friend wasn’t working I’ve always had really great service. I’ve spent countless hours sitting here working on college stuff, meeting with people to invest in business idea’s and having really great conversation with my friends. I love the atmosphere cause while still modern you still feel homie. It takes a true designer to accomplish that, maybe it’s because of the size of the location but it’s always been inviting. I love that it is attached to the bike shop, that added another really neat element to it. And the fact that it’s located it Alamo Height’s it’s just a fun place to go grab a coffee and then walk around. The coffee has never been bad, it’s a limited menu, without much«fun» things to add to it. Which suits be fine considering I drink normal plain coffee. But I think that attests to the purity of their coffee and the beans. I also love that they in-house make their Vanilla Syrup. The only bad thing I have to say is lack of parking and lack of outlets. I know it’s tough in that area, but it just makes it a little difficult to work sometimes.

The first time I came here, I wasn’t super impressed with my Americano. It was a little too acidic and just meh. But subsequent visits have been really great. My most recent Americano was just perfect. The pastries are a little too sweet and too big but they are almost always very interesting. I recently got a strawberry pop tart with crushed macarons on top. How crazy does that sound? Atmosphere wise — it’s very much a hipster hangout. But so are a lot of interesting and neat places. There are a lot of chairs — many of which are very uncomfortable, steel contraptions. I never stick around to do any work here but I know a lot of people who do like it. Parking is kind of crazy because some of the spots back out onto Broadway but I’ve been lucky to go at not so busy times. What I love most about Local is the customer service. They care about brewing a good cup of coffee made from really good beans. They also helped us out by donating a ton of coffee for a fundraiser at our school. This thoughtful gesture really makes this coffee shop shine for me.

I generally despise composing unfavorable reviews for businesses but after visiting this Local Coffee location several times, the verdict is in: consistently inconsistent spro served here. It appears customers favor this location due in part to a fairly sized common area with plenty of seats and tables to loiter or leech complimentary wifi. A word to the wise: This place gets packed and generally speaking, people overstay their visit. Staff is friendly but regrettably, barista skill level is below par. Local is a multi-roaster shop but exclusively features their very own Merit Roasting Co’s beans for espresso. Their slow bar features beans from Madcap, Intelli, and Counter Culture to name a few roasters. **********BEGINSIDEBAR********** Frankly, I am exhausted hearing pseudo coffee snobs poo-pooing shops for not offering 1) pour overs or 2) siphon or 3) Kyoto cold brew. For whatever reason, self proclaimed coffee connoisseurs believe that the aforementioned slow brew methods are the pinnacle of drip coffee extraction. Umm, excuse me but I happen to enjoy plenty of delicious coffees brewed via Fetco and by other non-theatrical methods. Please don’t misunderstand. I appreciate Chemex, Kalita, et al… but it is possible to achieve perfect extraction by other means. **********ENDSIDEBAR********** There is a silver-lining, however. As Local’s other locations, pastries are sourced from Bakery Lorraine. One and One: 2⁄5 Unfortunately, a noticeably uneven slung spro. Single espresso super sour and acidic. Single macchiato dull and thin with a sour milk finish. Macchiato: 2⁄5 Harsh under extraction with sharp sour tartiness that even milk couldn’t cut. What’s more, the aftertaste lingered in my mouth for nearly an hour even after attempting to neutralize with breath mints. I hope Local sorts out their barista issues at this location. I know the specialty coffee scene is still developing in San Antonio and I can’t expect it to be on par with Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Portland but I know that there are a few better options for espresso now in this city.

VEGANOPTIONS: multiple non dairy milks for your coffee enjoyment. None of the baked goods are vegan safe but that’s okay because the coffee is so goddamned good… AND… AND… ANDS… FLAKEDICE!!!

Hipster neighborhood coffee house– small menu, selection of cold brews at the bar, wifi and a patio. Polite service, line backs up fast and drinks are(a bit slowly) made to order. Drinks I’ve had here weren’t as strong as expected. Mexican vanilla mocha didn’t have any flavor to it. Small selection of grab and go items. Prefer the place across the street instead.

My husband and I were looking for a place to wind down before heading to our next stop(we’re from our of town). We found this place through Unilocal and decided to try it out. Based on this initial visit, I love the place — the location and the atmosphere. Most of the patrons were there studying or working so it’s quiet, which is a nice plus. A number of them appeared to be regulars. The place was simple and open with lots of natural light. They offer slow drip coffee, but we didn’t order that because we normally drink coffee that way at home. However, they offered affogato, basically 2 scoops of Amy’s vanilla ice cream with 2 shots of espresso, which was something I would indulge in when I lived in Korea(a country full of independently owned coffee shops) but haven’t found here until now. Finally! So I got it. My other half ordered the latte, which came complete with latte art. The baristas were friendly and professional. Another thing: they seem to take their coffee seriously and gave each order their personal attention. If I lived in the area, I would most definitely become a regular!

This place has been a tasty eye opener for me for a little over three years. When my old coffee shop Grassroots shut down I thought I would never find a worthwhile cup of coffee in the city again. We were spoiled by all the fabulous coffee shops up I’m Seattle when we visited and it had been the only thing we found in Alamo Heights or the rest of SA that was even close to the craft coffee of the Great NorthWest. We tried local Seattle coffee brewers when in our trip three years ago and we never bothered with Starbucks when up there, because I have never been a fan of Starbucks overly roasted coffee. Sorry not sorry I said it, that’s just how I feel. Im not proud to be a coffee snob that’s just how I feel & I can’t help it. I have discerning taste in food and beverages. I enjoy a good creama and quality beans in my coffee served with a smile by a independent business that values quality & small details. Its worth it & the discriminating consumer like myself tha has no choice in the matter we are just born that way. Local is different, they changed the game up here in San Antonio/AlamoHeights three years when they opened & I was able to restore my faith in a local coffee shop again. I was sold, their iced caramel latte had me at first sip. I also love it served hot too & their Chai Tea as well in Caramel. However, I do have one suggestion. It’s something I noticed that another fabulous coffee place in the area I like as well does, that has only been open about a year now. Instead of a a bunch of pellet ice, it would be a whole lot cooler if they had put a big square chunk of ice in the iced coffees & chai drinks so that they don’t get watered down too quickly on a hot day. I would like to see this change happen because it seems I am not the only one here on help that noticed there is a lot of ice at times. Just a suggestion but I would love to see this happen. Other than that we are all peachy LOVE this place!!!
