Went with a friend to try out this place. Our waiter Noah lacked in social waiter skills. We waited to get decent service. One thing for sure is that a person who was serving water was very cordial and friendly tending to bringing the chips and salsa appetizer promptly arriving way before the beer I had ordered. I ordered a cheeseburger medium well and got one that was a second or two away from being well done. Some of the fries were over cooked. I made a comment to my friend that whenever a business has a large mirror on the wall that it’s a must that it’s kept clean. I was not impressed with food or service. Not worth it.

Easy going brunch experience at noon on a Sunday. We made a reservation, but arrived early. We didn’t need to wait for a table. The service was average at best. Our server wasn’t very attentive. The food was good but not great. No one in our group was completely satisfied with what they ordered, and we all felt the portions were awfully small. My dish arrived missing ingredients, and was served luke warm. I wanted to send it back, but I couldn’t get our server, so I decided to eat with everyone else. The place is nice. It’s got a great atmosphere, albeit loud.

When I called to make a reservation, the lady who answered what was nice and seemed very efficient. I arrived at 7:00 pm, and there wasn’t many people inside which was a bit worrying but I have read that it gets busy later. I was sat down near a window in a big, airy, bright, clean room and was served my drinks appetizer and main course very quick(granted there were not many people there). My meal was vey hot filling and fresh. That is one thing I’d like to point out; they make their own breads, pastas and more and tastes very much like it(in a good way). This is very much a southern eclectic gourmet resteraunt. I suggest this to anyone living in San Antonio or visiting San Antonio.

My favorite restaurant in San Antonio when you factor in quality, taste, price, hours, and availability. It is one of the only places I know that has great food with a kitchen that is open late. Favorites: Minguichi, Puntas Norteñas, and Roasted Lamb Plate are a must.

Excellent! I had the Puntas Norteñas for lunch and there was so much flavor! The spice was just right and the portion was large– my only complaint– I wish there was more beef than bacon. The Muingichi(queso) was to die for– so many spices and flavors with the poblanos. I can’t say I’ve ever had a queso like it! Very unique and a good size. While I didn’t try any alcoholic drinks, I must say they were on top of the water refills. I have never been to a place that was so on top of refills(might I add I drink a TON of water). I would love to come back to try more items! They also have something for everyone– including hamburgers, pizza, salads and seafood.

I was a little worried when I showed up at 6pm on a Saturday night and was swiftly led into a completely empty dining area by the host who was waiting out front for customers to arrive. Normally this isn’t a good sign but I think this restaurant is used to a later crowd. There was a party in the banquet area and the dining area and bar filled to capacity as the night went on so the experience became a little more lively and inviting. Let me start by saying the restaurant itself is in a great location and has a great feel inside. Located in the heart of King William, this place has ample parking on S Alamo or in the surrounding neighborhoods. They have an inviting pink exterior and once inside, diners will be pleasantly impressed with the converted residential style building. There are three main downstairs rooms for dining and drinking and an upstairs area for more of the same. The wooden floors and rustic features make this place feel very comforting and homelike. The food was definitely the highlight at Liberty Bar. My partner and I started by splitting the goat cheese with piloncillo($ 9). We were expecting it to be spicy but the sugary sauce mellows out the heat and combines the salty, sweet, spicy mixture perfectly. They offer lots of bread to spread it over and it could almost act a meal on its own. I was extremely impressed and can see why this dish is their signature appetizer. After the amazing app, I was worried that the entrée wouldn’t live up to what I just devoured. I went with the wild boar sausage($ 18) and got a plate full of Germanic-style offerings that were extremely filling. The sausage was seasoned well and came with great mustard for dipping. The sides of potatoes and grilled tomatoes balanced out the meat very well. This dish was a great addition to the overall meal and I would highly recommend it. Overall, this place is extremely likable. I think I have found a new go-to restaurant for upscale bar offerings. They offer so many unique ingredients and flavor combinations that truly outshines most other restaurants in this city. In addition to the incredible food, the combination of a great atmosphere, location, and friendly staff make Liberty Bar one of my new favorites in San Antonio. I would highly recommend dining here and I can’t wait to come back for more food.

A fantastic restaurant week visit. All SA draft selection and TX bottled beer. Great happy hours from 5 – 7 and 10 – 12. Kitchen is in plain view of the bar with a very open setting. Staff is amazing. Friendly, joking, helpful. just genuine. Blake is a fantastic bartender. My drink: The Monsignor — a treat to watch be made as much as it is to drink. Salad.perfect amount of dressing to complement the leaves. They really save the best for last. Pinot Noir Poached Pear w/Burnt Caramel. Heaven. I shall say no more.

A very nice neighborhood bar upstairs. Can get a bit crowded but be patient as the staff really work hard to take care of everyone. Ask to meet the bartender voted best in San Antonio this year by a local paper/magazine. The Current Happy Hour has appetizers at half off. 5 – 7. And after 10pm they offer reverse happy hour with customizable pizzas for five bucks! Go to happy hour on Thursdays if you want to meet lots of the neighbors in the Lavaca and King William areas as that is their go to spot.

Summary– We enjoyed a nice late lunch here, cute place inside an old mansion. Food– 3.5 Stars Special caprese-esque salad was good, but heirloom tomatoes confused me as they were tiny and I assumed slices of larger ones. Also needed a little more cheese for me. We split the roasted leg of lamb sandwich and the quality of ingredients really shined through. It was overall excellent. Service– 4 Stars Timely and nice. Atmosphere– 5 Stars We are just suckers for an old house. Drinks– 4 Stars Good strong bloody served in an odd glass. Value– 4 Stars Not over the top considering ingredients.

The omelette was amazing. There’s a goat cheese dip they’re known for which was absolutely amazing. The place is an old convent which added to the atmosphere.

This place is built like a house! Very cute ambiance. Tons of menu choices… Too many sounded so good! Ended up getting the pasta luego which was a garlic butter with shrimp. And I got the tomato onion with crisp salt pork. Both with homemade fettuccine. Very delicious! They both also came with green salads with a good refreshing dressing. Service and price average.

This was my first time at the«new» location. Not so new anymore, I suppose! I would say the best part about this experience was the fact that we made easy reservations through Unilocal. There were a lot of people waiting for tables when we arrived at noon on Sunday, but we were ushered right to our table. It was upstairs by the bar and elevator which is where a lot of people wait for their tables, so I didn’t love that, but Liberty Bar ended up accommodating not just the initial reservation group of my boyfriend and me but also two friends who joined us, so I won’t complain. Bottom line: make a reservation! Drinks were delicious — from the fresh squeezed OJ to the chunky(in the most appealing sense) Bloody Marys. We enjoyed the goat cheese and bread«signature appetizer» the most, I’d say. Fair warning: after noon, the board starts to get cleared of some of the brunch options. We waited to order mains til our last friend arrived which meant losing out on the quiche and French toast to our dismay. All was forgiven though. Two of us had fettuccini dishes and the pasta itself was delicious. Like another review mentioned, they advertise a pasta with tomatoes, red onion and crispy pork, but there were really maybe ten tiny pieces of pork in the whole giant bowl of pasta. I tasted my friend’s pasta luego — good but very fishy(as to be expected given it was chock full of salmon!). The others had fairly standard brunch dishes of sausage, toast, beans, etc. Overall, no one complained apart from missing those two dishes!

Came here for brunch on a Saturday morning, and it was wonderful. All our dishes featured received beans, lamb sausage made in house, apricot jelly made in house, Potatoes and eggs cooked perfectly. The Bloody Mary, and Mimosas are ½ price on Saturdays and are Delish! Will definitely recommend this place :-)

I went here for a quick drink and found the bar friendly and well appointed with good beer and wine. I can’t really speak to the food, but the menu really looked good and everyone looked like they were enjoying the food. The people at the bar next to me tore into the carrot cake for desert and judging by the way they were scraping the plate and licking their forks, it must have been pretty good.

Soak some homemade stale bread in a custard like batter. Cook it up and serve it for breakfast. Drizzle it with sticky syrup. Yes sir. That’s that French toast that my pics illustrate so lusciously.(Ok my pics aren’t as good as others but I’m trying.) Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and night caps can all be handled here. All are good especially the above stated French toast, quiches, pastas, pizzas, salads, lamb sausage, and their signature drinks. Positive energy all around for Liberty Bar except on two occasions: That time when I took squad there for lunch and the new waiter was all alone with a hungry house full of people– that situation made me look weird in front of my boss. Didn’t like that. The chili relleno has been, um, raw-ish the past few times I’ve ordered it off the appetizer side. The first time I had it, it was unique and delicious. Subsequent times I’ve wanted to spit it back out and just say no. That’s not lady like so I choked it down like a boss. Not ordering it again though. :-/ But that French toast tho…

I have to start off my saying that every meal I’ve had here except for ONE has been excellent. Very flavorful and beautiful presentations. I like that they have several rooms to dine in and the full, long bar that never seems to be too crowded. I hate crowded bars and fighting for the bartender’s attention while trying not to piss them off or be rude because they hold your buzziness in their wet, salty, working hands. But I digress… My one terrible meal was when I met a few friends from Austin there on a weekend during the day. We had a few kids and grandma, us girls and some husbands. We all ordered separately and didn’t realize that we all ordered the calamari so every time an order came out we all thought it was ours. I was served last as is my fortune. After all that anticipation my calamari turned out to be a big frozen ball of mush, crispy on the outside. That in itself could be called an amazing feat of cookery but it was really nasty trying to pry a tentacle loose from the grips of freezer burn. They took my plate away and deducted it from my bill therefore leaving me with calamari cravings for the rest of the week. Very sad indeed. Otherwise, I have had great food. Service. .. not so great now and then but it’s ok. The one thing I can’t put my finger on may be that this place, while appealing, perhaps, lacks a little bit of soul. Servers are a bit cold. Never a big warm smile. It’s all tepid. That may be ok for some people but this is South Town. People are happy there. I may be over-analyzing but I just want to feel welcomed when I walk in there, not like another person that requires to have my basic food needs met. Parking is free and there’s an elevator from the outside that takes you to the bar. Ambiance is provided by my friends and the patrons so that’s why I go back. And for the pretty, tasty food.
