El Herradura was a real disappointment. The nice points… service was good. It’s decorated nicer than LB. The ground beef was a strange consistency. And the flavor was fair. The cheese enchiladas had a sauce I was unfamiliar with(I’m Mexican and have eaten tex mex all my 62 years) the tea even tasted«off». At any rate I wont be back.

I hate to give bad reviews but was not satisfied one bit. If you think eating at La Herradura Mexican Restaurant would be the same as eating at Las Brazas it NOT! The only good thing about the change to the new restaurant is that it smells cleaner.

I am amazed by The Grand opening of La Herradura Mexican Restaurant. Walking for the First time into this NEW restaurant it brings a sensation as to New Food, New Service, and a good spending time quality. I love the 3 breakfast Tacos(same kind) for $ 2.69. And The Huevos Rancheros Plate is Fantastic! They serve homemade tortillas(corn and flour) (Lunch) I just fell in love with The item in the menu called«Herradura Burrito» … Topped with gravy and melted cheese. «The Mexican plate» is served with rice, beans, salad, 2 enchiladas, 1 crispy taco, and 2 tortillas!!! The weekly lunch specials are only $ 5.50 from 11 am to 9:30 pm I have been eating here for 5 days consistently during my breakfast and lunch hours, this place is AMAZING I will definitely go back and have a wonderful time!!! *** I really recommend everybody to come and have a great time with family and friends at this Restaurant

Picky husband had the duck tacos and loved them. Their chips and salsa are addictive. Guacamole is done right. I had enchiladas suizas. Very nice flavors.

When you walk in its a hole in the wall but it’s busy 24⁄7. Been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late at night. Breakfast specials Huevos Rancheros 2.99 and to tacos .89 cents. Lunch specials 3.99 with Thursday my favorite calabaza with pork. Dinner all you can eat cheese enchiladas 5.99. Cash only and service is great but they usually only speak Spanish. Live the salsa and chips.

Open 24⁄7 which is awesome. Better than going to those overly crowded places like mama Margie’s, las palapas, or IHOP late at night. Food is good. Yes, the place is a bit rundown but the food is decent.

Las Brazas is a great neighborhood 24 hour taco joint. They offer everything from tacos and Menudo, to enchilada plates. I particularly enjoy this place after a night out on the town. It’s close to home, and their carne asada la mexicana taco is my favorite. Some people say this place is only good after a few drinks at 2am, if you now what I mean. However, I have stopped in for a few lunch time tacos, and thought they were just as good. They offer cheap eats, and its cash only. Parking is very limited. There is always someone eating in the dining room. A lot of cops stop in to eat. People may be put off by its quaint looking set up, but I call that charm.

No, no, no, just don’t do it. There are so many better choices. San Antonio, after all, is Tex Mex heaven, even at 3 am! I would honestly tell anyone I cared about to stay far away from this place. Friends of ours live nearby. Stopped in for tacos late one night, to go. Good enough and cheap enough. My son wanted to stop by again to try their«all you can eat» enchiladas, and that’s usually a good idea for me $$ wise since he’s a teenager and he can EAT. So, we dropped in and he ordered the all you can eat enchiladas, the rest of us opted for other menu items. Three of us ended up ordering puffy tacos(beef) and about three bites in, I noticed that my tacos were stuffed with half cooked meat. Gross, undercooked, pink ground beef. Scary scary. And the same was true for the other 2 in our group who had also ordered the same. It was very clearly undercooked, this was not debatable in the slightest. Long story short, got manager(??) involved, after several attempts to discuss with the waitress(who, all of a sudden, spoke no English although she spoke sufficient English prior to our issue!) with no luck. Manager rudely and quite angrily insisted that there was nothing wrong with the meat being«that color» and that it was normal for picadillo tacos to be «that color» and insinuated we just didn’t know better. Stupid gringos and all, we just didn’t know what«picadillo» looked like. Refused to budge on the issue, would not take any of it off the ticket, and in fact threatened to call the police if we did not pay in full and leave immediately, when we started trying to tell her that eating meat like that could make us very very ill. An absolute nightmare, I have never been subjected to such horrible treatment, and especially in a place where hole in the wall Tex Mex places are LITERALLY on every corner! The arrogance and attitude was astounding. I think the health department needs to visit these guys.

10 years ago the people that cooked in this place did really well. 10 years go by and I return to Texas from Florida and I wanted to see if the olé place was there with the good eats… noooooo! I went in and it took forever to acknowledge that I was there to eat.(should’ve left then but I held on to hope for a minute) We finally got to order food and it came back moments later. I can honestly say this isn’t the food I had years ago. What in the name of God happened??? The food was horrendous! It was embarrassing! If I were the owner I would fire the cooks and close my business down with whatever dignity was left. The 2nd bite of food and I spit out a small rock onto the table. That’s when I said I’m getting the hell outta here. I asked for the server and me and my friend stated that the food was not good and we want the check… now! She only charged us for the drinks and after that food we tried to eat I should’ve charged her instead. do yourself a favor and go to IHOP… we did and we got much better service and food.

Oh, sweet mama. Las Brazas. Las — f’ing — Brazas. Pretend you’re a sailor being thrown across the sea in your tiny old wooden boat. You don’t ever think you’ll make it to land… but then you see a bright, white light. It’s a lighthouse atop a rocky hill. LANDHO! You’ve made it. You’ll survive. Now tone it down about 10 notches and you’ll have my experience a few months ago when finding Las Brazas. I live in Alta Vista; work downtown. That’s my comfort zone. And in that comfort zone there is Cristan’s Tacos. A magnificent place for cheap, delicioso tacos at cheap, cheap prices. Las Brazas is the Cristan’s Tacos of Vance Jackson. Does that make sense? For starters, this place is open 24 hours. Ditch that Taco Cabana crap and get over here for fresh, homemade tortillas, mediocre coffee and a feeling of Lil’ Mexico. Most of their tacos are $ 1.25−1.50. They have a full menu, but tacos are my thing. Best of all, if you’re a drinker, get your grub here, then walk over to La Fogota for your fancy patio, decorative lighting and margaritas. Notes: Plenty of parking around the building. Not sure if they have restrooms. Waitress service, but pay at the register. Pass on the salsa. No es good. BIGNOTE: THEYONLYTAKECASH. No credit cards. No checks. Mexican pesos, maybe.

I wasn’t terribly impressed by this place. It is cheap and filling, but below average Mexican food. San Antonio certainly has better, cheaper Mexican food. I got the huevos rancheros special for $ 2.99, which is a good deal. It came with two flour tortillas which seemed to come from the grocery store. The salsa was runny, and unappetizing. The potatoes looked like they had been previously frozen. The refried beans were marginally acceptable. They only accept cash, and the ATM charges as much as the breakfast cost me to get cash. The wait staff was aloof, and spent more time gossiping than making sure me and the only other diner in the restaurant were happy. It wasn’t quite clean. It looked like the floor hadn’t been mopped in quite some time. They had a jukebox that randomly played cumbia tunes very loudly, which made it difficult to carry on a conversation or read the paper. Good prices, mediocre food.

Call me crazy, but this place houses my favorite cheese enchilada plate EVER! Something about the taqueria that has lots of tables, but hardly any space with cash only transaction and it’s dingy, but somehow still cleanish and it doesn’t really matter anyway b/c the food is just so DAMN good that you will ignore surroundings. San Anto represent! For my mother and i-this place is tradition. So much so, that we drive a little out of our way to pick up or occasionally dine in :)

This is a tough one to rate. I’ll give the pros and cons. PROS: Super cheap! Huevos Rancheros plate for $ 2.99. All you can eat Enchilada plate(certain days, I think Wednesday from 3−6pm) for $ 5.99. Breakfast tacos for $.89, Monday-Friday from 6am-10am. Open 24 hours. It’s literally a block over from La Fogata, so you can load up on cheap food before going over there for their margaritas and atmosphere, or conversely, go to Las Brazas after all your margaritas for the cheap eats. They have homemade corn and flour tortillas. CONS: They take CASHONLY. There is an ATM inside and the fee is $ 2.75. Food quality is average. It’s kinda hit and miss. Sometimes I go for a to go order when I don’t feel like making dinner and recall the tacos being so deliciously satisfying. Other times, I’ve eaten on site and had the food come to the table at luke warm temperature. Depends on what you want in a restaurant. Fast, cheap and filling? They make the mark. Otherwise, it’s your basic, average, San Antonio taqueria. Can get kinda packed on weekends late at night with rowdy drunks.
