Terrific authentic Chinese noodles at low prices. I used to work in China and this is very similar to the noodle shops found all over China. Very casual, limited seating, and terrific service. I highly recommend trying this spot out. This is a true whole in the wall. It even used to be next to a closed planned parenthood which really sets the mood.

Little hole in the wall noodle house that has great noodles. We stopped here looking for noodles and dumplings like the ones I got while in Beijing. What they call dumplings everyone else would call wontons.(The noodles are Fantastic and authentic) I was hoping to get a bun too, but beware those are only served Tuesday and Wednesday. Also… unless you like to taste your food with your 5STAR burning spicy hot don’t order anything above mild, or spicy at all.

This was my first time visiting Kung Fu Noodle and having traditional Chinese noodles. Unfortunately I was a bit underwhelmed. All the reviews I’ve read were fantastic so I was excited to try it. I went on an afternoon that they served their steam buns that everyone raves about. I ordered the pork and cabbage steam bun. It was pretty good, flavorful and dense. However I felt it was a bit too oily. I then ordered the pork and noodle soup with stretched noodles… I will say it was amazingly hot(as in temperature) but unfortunately it was pretty bland. I spent time trying to Doctor it up but still wasn’t a big fan. I would go back to try the spicy beef as it seems to be a reviewer favorite. But as for now there’s no mad rush.

We stopped by this noodle house on our way back to Cali after my parent’s retirement. We were pleasantly surprised what this noodle house has to offer. We ordered beef broth with hand-made noodle, pork/chive dumplings, and veggie noodles. Pork/chive dumplings were excellent! Beef broth were full of flavors with thin cut beef. My parents enjoyed veggie noodle. They were surprised the tastiness of noodle and dumplings. Customer service was prompt and efficient. If we were to visit San Antonio again, we will surely be back!

Place is unassuming, straight noodle bar vibe. Excellent beef tenderness and the noodles feel as homemade as possible. You get a huge amount of dumplings with an order and they taste great. Just too bad they are on the other side of town for me.

First, I like the authentic Asian noodle house look. It reminded me of the places I went to in Asia. Second, the flavor of the food are authentically delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Why. Why had I not been here before?! I had this place bookmarked for a while and finally visited today. Given their limited menu, it didn’t take long for me to order, and I settled on the lamb noodles. I ordered the medium spice and it was spicier than I imagined, but still manageable. Word of caution though, if you are not much for spicy food you’ll find the mild one with quite a kick(or so I was told by a spice-intolerant friend). I can’t attest to the other dishes but the noodles on this one were juuuust right. Also, the bowl is huge and can easily serve as leftovers for the next day. Yay!

This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. It isn’t like your everyday Chinese restaurants with all of the entrees you would regularly see on the menu. The menu consists of noodles, dumpling, and buns. I got the lamb noodles and loved them, but the buns that are only one dollar each, is what took the crown. The pork and cabbage buns are amazing! I payed less than 10 dollars for my food and these portions are definitely meant for sharing!

I’ve bookmarked this place for a while and finally got the chance to check it out! Verdict? I think I found a pretty good authentic restaurant that serves Chinese food. Read on… A lot of people may be critical of the interior of the restaurant, but to me, this is normal of an Asian food establishment. There’s no need for the restaurant to impress with interior design or fancy decorations. It’s strictly business with good food and good service. The store itself is not large. There are wooden tables where you pick a seat and order from. The waiters are very friendly and patient! I’ve seen reviews where people have said that customer service isn’t that great here. I didn’t experience anything bad and actually had them come to my table to refill my water and check up on me. I even spoke Chinese to them! It was a wonderful atmosphere. Now on to the food. I ordered the lamb noodle soup with thin noodles, two pork and cabbage buns(baozi), and one Chinese bun(mantao). Buns are only 1DOLLAREACH and available only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I actually really wanted to try the pork and chive dumplings(this is literally my FAVORITETHINGTOEATWORLDWIDE!) but they were out!!! Tears… I will have to come back next time, and maybe try the thick noodle with my soup. The soup isn’t too extravagant and the cabbage buns were way too oily for me, but I gave this place a four stars because I’ve been on the search for an authentic Chinese restaurant. And the prices are so cheap here… Really, what more could you want? The portions are pretty large that I took it home to eat for dinner. What a steal. EDIT: Got to try the pork and chive dumplings. They were enjoyable but slightly salty to my own preference. The order is about 20 dumplings for $ 6.99. I also got to try the wide/thick noodle with lamb noodle soup again. I highly recommended the thicker noodle instead of the thinner noodles.

Super good noodles pork and chive dumplings are the bomb! The place is really awkward to walk into. It was too quite even with a packed house. Very weird pictures on the wall. Maybe some music playing? Put some décor on plain white walls

I’ve been a bit addicted to Kung Fu Noodle these past few months, luckily it’s finally getting cold so I don’t feel as crazy coming here so often. The handmade noodles have almost a spring to their chewiness– if that makes any sense, it’s like they use carbonated water to make the dough, resulting in a noodle with less density, but I don’t think it works that way. Also impressive is how their little lamb bits so perfectly tender while having a nice crispy char on each little morsel, delicious but super fatty. The green onion and pork dumplings are great, even take out orders of those reheat well, a lot of it reheats well but the soups are best eaten fresh right there. The actual place is pretty authentic in appearance for a noodle house, staff curt but efficient, prices great. I suppose the only downside to the place is that it’s small so it crowds easily and often.

Kung Fu Noodle is an authentic noodle place with no extra fuss. The soups, buns and dumplings here are simple but delicious! I usually get the lamb noodles and a pork bun which has just the right amount of spice. My one warning would be that if you go during their peak lunch hours, service can be a little spotty. They try their best,(I’ve never had RUDE service) but are simply too short-staffed to deal with the huge crowds that inundate them at lunch time. The crowd happens for good reason though; the noodles are affordable, fresh pulled, and simply wonderful!

Cozy inexpensive noodle house. The noodles are homemade and broth is so good! The cabbage bun is so good too! It’s only 1.00 but you can easily have this alone and might be full. Like others have said, place is simple and small. I love that this place is so close. Really needed one in the area.

Fantastic! I ordered and received everything before I finished checking-in on Unilocal!Friendly guy seated me & took my order. The Chinese bun and pork & cabbage bun were outstanding! The spicy lamb noodle bowl was spicy! with wonderful flavor of anise and tender lamb! I’m hooked! And the portion is HUGE! I will be taking this home so the wife and I can split it for dinner! Noodles were perfectly cooked, with enough bite to be pleasantly chewy. I am in love! One little ODDity — tv was set to country music videos! Struck me as odd but I don’t even mind! Lol

We were crazy excited like all other food obsessed people when we heard that we are getting our very own hand made noodle place! After waiting a few months for the furor to die out, away we went to experience the noodle making chops of KungFu Noodle… to have a pretty darn flat experience. The locale(nicely dicey), the interior(very sparse with crappy laminated menus) all pointed the possibilities of a great experience, but alas! it was not to be. The noodles were overcooked and the broth did not have the depth of flavor that absolutely has to be present to make all this work. On the second trip I hit upon the idea of having them make the noodles extra spicy which worked because the extra chile and garlic flavored the broth and this then was okay with the nicely cooked bok choy. But overall the noodles, the broth, dumplings, were just meh. Go try it just to support the small business, but if you have had great noodles, this will leave you wanting.

OMG! I’m so glad that I found this little gem. I was getting my nails done and I was telling my nail lady about a new phở place on Bandera, but I couldn’t remember the name. With that, I pulled up good olé’ Unilocal and put in «phở» into the search bar. As the search hits came up, I noticed this place called«KungFu Noodles» and I was intrigued by the name. So, of course, I had to call the hubby up and we had to go there immediately! I was a little thrown off by the shopping center when we drove up. However, when we opened up the doors, I was shocked to see a well lit, clean, and CUTE little restaurant. The waitress was super sweet and gave us a menu immediately(even though we were THOSE people who showed up 30 mins before this place closed) and we were seated right then and there. I was dying to try their pork and chives dumplings(that’s what fellow Unilocal reviewers were suggesting), but they were sold out. They only had the pork and mushrooms left, I heart mushrooms, so I was A-OK with the situation. We also ordered the handmade noodles with pork soup. The waitress let us know ahead of time that the noodle bowls were pretty big. I ordered the small noodles this time around, but I“m dying to try to thick noodles next time. I thought we were going to be sitting there forever before our food would come out, but within 10 – 15 mins, we had our noodles on the table. Yes, please listen to the other reviews when they tell you that the soup is steaming HOT! But man, was it good. The broth was so flavorful and the noodles had just the right texture to it. Next came the dumplings… and I was impressed. I made a little dipping sauce(the KungFu chili oil and soy sauce) to dip my dumplings in. I was super delighted. To top it all off, the prices were MORE than reasonable for the type of food that we were getting. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the pork & chives dumplings and NO buns!!! Apparently buns are only available on Tuesday and Wednesday. I couldn’t try any tonight, but hey… I know have another excuse to come back. EEK! I’m so excited that I found this place.

This little eatery in the middle of Leon Valley focuses on one thing and one thing only… fresh, handmade noodles. And I meant that in THE best way possible. It’s Kungfu’s minimizing of their menu to key, significant items that allows the kitchen to plate(or bowl, in this case) quality offerings consistently. Choose your indulgence: Noodles — think handmade(wide, flat) or stretched(thin) noodles — in lamb, pork, beef or chicken soup, Fried Noodles & Vegetables, Dumplings(pork or beef), or ‘Chinese Buns’ or ‘Pork & Cabbage Buns’… all of which have a nice, spicy kick to them. Atmosphere’s nothing extraordinary, but service is pleasant. Prices more than agreeable.

This place is the best spot I’ve been to in San Antonio for noodles. I’ve gone 3 times and normally for dinner. I’ve never had to wait for a table, which I like, but there are normally a vast variety of people eating in the dining room and taking orders to go. The staff is very attentive and your food comes out in less than 10 minutes from the time you ordered it. All noodle bowls are piping(and I do mean piping) hot, so be careful! The noodles look and taste fresh and the additional ingredients are great too. I’ve had the pork and lamb, which the lamb is a dark red and spicier broth, which were both great. The dumplings are basically bread rolls, but if you really want a treat, go with the cabbage filled dumplings. They’re almost like a meal in themselves. The broth for each soup could be a meal on its own. Lots of flavor and delicious. The dining room is small and tables seat 4 at a time. It’s pretty much a barebones set-up, but the food is the main reason I go. Although, I would like a bit more comfortable table/chair situation. The shopping center it is attached to might be a little unsettling(hemp shop on one side and planned parenthood on the other) but this place is awesome!

Okay, i’m sold here now on my second visit. My initial complaints were that the broth and noodles were way too oily. I went in on a thursday night and was greeted and seated immediately. With my group of friends, i ordered: Pork and cabbage steamed bun– a sizable bun for $ 1! I could eat 5 of these and be comfortably full Beef dumplings– delicious and made in house. Dumplings done right and very familiar to my childhood. Lamb with wide noodles in chicken broth– yay customizability! My fiancé can’t handle any spice so the waitress offered to sub out the spicy lamb broth with chicken broth. My friend had half lamb/half chicken broth for a medium spice. SO. GOOD. I definitely recommend getting lamb regardless of the kind of broth. This is a place to get fast and cheap food. Fat bowl of noodles = $ 7. Overflowing bowl of dumplings = 5. Sharable and amazing in every way.
