Exercise for dummies! Yep that’s me: What do I work on? What muscle group? Which machine does that? Nope none of that confusion or indecisiveness with Koko. You use one machine with hundreds of exercises. The computer program recognizes you with a special USB key. It recalls the weights you use and what you want do do, maintain, build or restore strength. Programs are only 24 sessions long so you knock them out at your pace but it’s fun and rewarding to go on to a new program. You do a strength test at the end of every program so you can really see if you’re improving. The computer even shows you how to do an exericse with a short video-like I said idiot proof. The staff is also available for guidance if you’re really lost. There are two type of cardio machines, elliptical or treadmill. The club has MP3 player with a CFO(chief fitness officer) offering guidance on speed, incline, motivation and education. Cardio sessions are only 15 minutes in length. Strength sessions are about 30 minutes. The Huebner and Bitters locations are the ony two I’ve tried out. Both set up similarly. 4 – 5 KoKo machines, two elliptical machines and three treadmills. There is a bathroom to change but no shower.-only reason to downgrade a star. There is a ‘fitcheck’ machine that measures muscle mass and once a member there is also nutritional guidance if you choose to use it. It may not have all the bells and whistles of a bigger club but the short programs and strength tests help me stay motivated and coming back. I need accountability and KoKo helps me with that. It’s really rewarding when I get a ‘perfect’ score on my strength training.
