I have been here! Why didn’t I Unilocal it when I was a scout? Geesh. So… the low down on private bike shops is this. If you are a PRO, go. If not, head out to your nearest Academy for a comparable bike that costs WAY less. I am sure that all the wear and tear is handled with great maintenance, but if you are a normal biker like me, you would have to be reminded of that oil change with the little sticker at the top left of your window. Do bikes have a place that you will be tempted to look at? I am way off here, but what I say — especially in this economy — is go in. Have a look and remind them that they are asking too much for the layman biker and no one has the money to pay their prices. Everyone wants to support the local shop, but with what you can get for less — it is a no brainer to head over to the cheapest place to satisfy your biking needs.
