Jump Start is a theatre performance space where new works are workshopped and produced on a consistent basis. Company members are a diverse group that bring different perspectives into the mix. Every show I’ve seen and the talk backs I’ve stuck around for are thoughtfully produced. The space is not a huge formal theatre and it seems they enjoy reconfiguring the space frequently. It is an intimate space so you are up close and personal with the actors. Everyone is very friendly and approachable if you want to chat and hang out afterwards. There’s usually some wine available to enjoy but really no frills. You can tell this is a labor of love by a dedicated company. They would get 5 stars if not for the parking. It seems the church that used to let them use their parking lot has started charging guests. There’s plenty of street parking but at night in an unfamiliar area you can get a little lost the way that intersection is configured. They could also use a food truck before or after the performances simply because people do like to stick around well past the performances end.
