Bad service by Amanda. Waited 10 min to get a second cup of coffee. Ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast, only thing that was good was the egg whites. Second order, asked for a bowel of chili and got a cup. Also asked for Tabasco and she forgot it. She don’t know how to make a simple Arnold Palmer. Hash was burnt. Oh and out the Window was an elderly women in a wheelchair chain smoking. Not a great experience. I probably won’t be coming back.

The food is always awesome, the only time I’ve ever not liked something on their menu is due to my personal taste, never their competence in the kitchen. My mother-in-law LOVES their tortilla soup, and swears it is the best you can get in San Antonio. The servers are very attentive and really good about refilling drinks. The ones that have worked there a long time know us as regulars and are always very happy to see us. Sometimes the restroom is less than perfect, but it seems to only be when they are extremely busy, and never seems to have been that way for very long. Sometimes the wait for food is long, but never to an exceeding degree. The prices are okay; about $ 8.00 for a large Spanish omelet stuffed with onions and bell peppers, with hash browns, refried beans, and flour tortillas. The drinks are about $ 3.00, but refills for coffee, tea, and soda are free. For those who have never been to a Jim’s, the ambiance is that of a 50’s diner to a modernized degree. Oldies music spanning the 50’s to the early 70’s is always playing at a low and comfortable yet listenable volume. They offer bar seating in high-backed stools, comfortable booths(including a few large ones that comfortably seat as many as 8 people) and standard table seating. Overall; this location has its flaws like any other, but the rare complaint is swiftly addressed with sincere apologies and corrections of the issue. I would definitely recommend this location for its good food, cheery service, and overall pleasant atmosphere.

Could not wait to taste the food had to report to save someone who was expecting coffee the huge disappointment. The WORSE tasting liquid next to hemlock. Really Jim’s get some real coffee not this watered down muddy water. Cheap scates.

I love Jim’s, their food is probably the best value in town. Their specials are pretty good, love meatloaf Mondays and the pot roast on Wednesdays especially. Where they fall short is slow service. I realize the food is mostly cooked to order but it’s hit or miss weather it’s going to be a one hour visit or two! Still worth it in my opinion but bring an iPad or smart phone to entertain yourself just incase it’s a slow service day.

3 fingers of scotch is what Mr. Smidgens is used to. Now 3 fingers of gravy? That’s a first! Yuppers, Mr. Smidgens and his lovely song bird were heading back to Austin after playing a charity event for The St Jude Foundation. We had read via social media that our very own Kelly S. had dined at a Jims recently. It was a cold dreary day, why not. We walked in and saw young and old alike. The older crowd had just come from church and were all dressed to the nines! They were regulars too. They knew the waitstaff and the waitstaff knew them. The service was great! Our waiter really took care of us and he genuinely enjoys his job. That is always great to see. We made our choices and went with the eggs Benedict and the chicken fried steak with cream gravy, hash browns, and eggs over medium. «What the? Wow!“‘ Is what we both said as our food was brought to the table. My cfs was flipped into a bowl and full of creamy gravy. It was glorious! I did indeed measure the gravy with my trusty scotch fingers. 3! What a time to be alive!

If Ivy is your waitress, treat her super nice! Her boss Tracy treats her like crap! Her boss put her down and reprimanded her in front of us!

I would have gave them 5 stars but the manager Tracy was very unprofessional with the wait staff. Yelling and making smart remarks usually doesn’t work Pulling them off to one side and addressing there mistakes is better. Showing them the correct way is best. Food was good though Lol

Simple food prepared well. My fish sandwich was a real piece of fish not a patty of indeterminate origin. Hubby’s patty melt was perfectly cooked. Service was slow which we attributed to the fact that the place was packed. We will definitely return.

I don’t know what these people are crying about. I’ve gone here several times in the last three years and always had great service.

HORRIBLE. Never again. We waited about 5 min to be seated. I was acknowledged after the fact that I told my husband we should leave. Once we sat down they took 15 min to bring us our coffee and take our order. Wellllll we waited 40 min in absolute discomfort. The heat was at full blast! We asked the waiter if they could turn it down and he said no… So we got up and said we would pay for our coffee and leave… Mind you we never ate. Never again I tell you! Never!

Sunday.6pm– 8.19.2012 10 minute wait to get any server acknowledgement — 3 tables in the entire restaurant. Customers at other tables having to get own refills and silverware. 5 front of the house employees linger around dining area not providing any assistance to customers. 15 minute ticket time for a burger and a soup and salad. Ordered a #1 got a #3. Server resolved. Food was good but not worth the service experience. Someone needs to do some customer service training. STAT! — Dear Jim’s, what gives?
