This was a great restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious. The owners, Shirley and Chase were very welcoming and made you feel like you were family. We plan on going back often. I had the Orange Chicken plate with fried rice. It was delicious and they don’t use MSG

Decent Chinese food is difficult to find in San Antonio. Excellent Chinese food, even difficult-er. This Chinese food here is measurably excellent. And, naturally, very hard to find. The location is terrible. Hard to see from the road, even when you’re actively trying to see it from the road. The proprietors, Chase & Shirley, are good people. This wouldn’t matter if their food sucked, but it doesn’t — so it does. I recommend the pork fried rice. Other dishes are highly subjective, but this fried rice is objectively good. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that if you try it and don’t like it, it’s likely that you have at least one of several serious medical problems. Get help. Finish your meal. And then get help.

I love this little hidden gem. I have been here a few times and my favorite dish hands down is the salt and pepper chicken. They also offer salt and pepper wings which are equally as good. The staff is very friendly and I love supporting a family owned business. I hope they can be around for a long time.

This place is a little hard to spot but once you find it, it’s such a relief. First off, the owners are the nicest people to ever serve you and even though it’s empty most of the time(very clean place too) the food is so BOMB. Seriously no lie, go to this place as soon as possible. I recommend the pepper steak. Everything is made fresh and you will not regret it.

I ordered the egg flower soup and the beef broc. The sauce that the beef broc was made in was thick and jelly like. It was gross. The soup was blehhh. I spent $ 30 here for two people and we both got sick. It’s been two days and I’m still sick to my stomach. Never coming here again.

Food was good, service was good. Place was clean. This used to be Rice to go and I liked it better then. The tables and chairs look like they came from a old used table store. Sort of random that they have a box of used DVD’s for sale on the counter? Anyway food is good, it is prolly best if you take it to go as the ambiance is not that great.

Ok… I have lived in Texas for most of my life. So, I have seen my fair share of Chinese food restaurants located in a strip retail center. The food is usually pretty close to the same you would find at any of the to numerous to count buffets. Edible, but not remarkable. That is why this place is great! It is none of that! Hong Kong Garden is in a strip retail center, but the food will amaze. The portions are huge. The prices are great! The dumplings are hand made. The pork roll(which is like a fried spring roll) is also hand made. Hand made! They told me sometimes they sell out. Trust me… you want to try both! They are great!

Decent price but the authenticity of the food is not. We order hot and sour soup and it came out not hot or sour it’s more like sweet and sour soup with imitation crab and tofu. Authentic hot and sour has bamboo and earwood mushroom and tofu and is suppose to be brown not clear orange color. We order a large and took a sip and did not finish it. We ask the waitress politely if they would take the soup off our bill she went to the back said something to the chef in Cantonese and then came back and adjusted our bill to take out the $ 3.50. That was nice of them. The Mongolian beef is also made with the same chili sauce from the hot and sour soup they serve here it had more onions in it then beef. The chicken chow mien was sweet not savory at all. Had way more bean sprouts than noodles. The 10pc dumpling is fried and really you can’t do anything wrong with something that fried so it was just that. Fried dumpling came without dipping sauce so since I had a little bit of the sweet and sour soup I used that as my sauce. The only thing memorable from the meal is the fried rice that came with the dish which is simple. It has onion and eggs and the mapo tofu we order was decent and was close to what it’s suppose to taste like.

Great food made by a chef who takes great care in the preparation of your meal and is served with sincerity! You won’t be disappointed and you will be supporting a small local business.

This place has the best fried rice! It actually has flavor and it’s not just bland fried rice that you usually eat two bites and throw the rest out, me and my son ate every last bite it was so good! Their foods pretty good to but I didn’t like how the orange chicken had the sauce on the side and I hated the hot and sour soup don’t order it you’ll be disappointed it taste nothing like real hot and sour soup it’s more of an Asian Korean fusion soup. It had imitation crab in it? I’ve never seen that in hot and sour soup??? Other than that the owners are very nice and the food was hot and fresh I will definitely be going back but just not ordering the soup lol :)

I’ve driven by this place a few times, and finally decided to stop by today. It’s tucked away at the corner of the shopping center, so it is easy to miss if you’re driving by(and actually keeping your eyes on the road like you should be). We came in sometime before 1pm and as we arrived some other diners were leaving, which left us the place to ourselves. It’s really clean with plenty of tables available. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and genuinely pleased to have you. We got an order of the golden rangoon as an appetizer and they were cooked to perfection, but they’re just a tad smaller in size than the ones we’ve ordered at another restaurant. The lunch specials are all $ 5.75 and come with your choice of rice and an egg roll. I had the Kung Pao Chicken which was very light and not too spicy even though it is marked as so on the menu. The waitress mentioned that on our next visit we could ask for it be hotter if we wanted. My brother had the Mongolian Beef and I’m a little sad I didn’t get that. It tastes just as good as it looks. All the food is made to order, so when it comes to the table it is steaming! They’ve also got some special dishes available like Chinese Sausage Fried Rice and Hong Kong Style Pork Chop that sounded tasty as well. I also noticed that they’re promoting low sodium cooking, which shows in the food because it wasn’t salty at all. Overall, this spot is nice. I’ll be coming back with more people to give some other dishes a try.
