The official timepiece of San Antonio. This is the one that you need to set your pocket watches to. This is a Texas-sized pocket watch, at 4 feet in diameter! This clock has been around since 1878, when it was originally on Commerce St. but was moved to this location in 1910 when the Eli Hertzberg Jewelry Co moved to Houston Street. Zales bought out Hertzberg, and the store was eventually closed. Someone once told me that this clock is so old that it has to be wound by hand, and isn’t even electrified. The roman numerals are easy on the eyes, and the time is usually accurate.
