Well… The selection of food is great. And some of it was really good. Some of it was stale, and barely warm. I had a chunk of steak from the grill, medium rare. It was passable steak for a buffet like this, and it was actually medium rare. I only got a tablespoon or two of each thing so I could try a wide assortment of items, and I would say the pot roast was the best thing I had, followed by the mashed potatoes and gravy. Peas were way undercooked(mealy because they were not cooked thoroughly enough). The popcorn shrimp was okay… nothing I would crave again. Since I am diabetic I had to really choose carbs carefully, and did not try any of the numerous types of bread they had. I liked the fried fish filets, but had to go light on those also. And they had some kind of rice, cheese, and veggie casserole near the steak station which also tasted delicious, but I could only have a taste of it because it was carb heavy! I walked around the salad bar, and everything looked very fresh and appetizing, and there was a really good variety of things to make an awesome salad. They had a large selection of desserts, and even had three items that were Sugar Free, or No Sugar Added! I didn’t try any of it, as I had more than enough trying all the savory buffet offerings. The real upside for me was the service. Yes, you are at a buffet where you pretty much serve yourself the food, but for the condiments, drinks, sauces, etc. they have waitstaff, and the person waiting on me was awesome! He checked with me frequently to see if I was satisfied with what I had, and to see if I needed anything else. Not frequently enough to be annoying, but at just the right pace! Bottom line: I may come back, but the food was mostly average and a little expensive for the quality. Only had a few tasty items, and most was bland or not well cooked.

As far as buffets are concerned, there are a myriad of choices: Chinese… can’t think of many others. But we do like Golden Corral, and our favorite is this one on Bandera Road at Loop 1604. Wife wanted something, and I wanted something else. So we compromised. Why did she want GC? One word: Jeff Foxworthy(and you always thought he was good for nothing more that his comedy routine). Foxworthy is their spokes-comedian, and she saw him hawking for GC last night, so she wanted to go. Always great food with equally great service. Consistently fresh food, servers who check on you regularly(and not flirt with their customers like the one at the Loop 410 location did that one time), and a great location there on Bandera Road: easy parking, easy in/out and never an issue with anything else. (Yes, Mike… we’re working on those WESTSIIIIDE locations you recommended!)

I usually like Golden Corral. Good place to cut some carbs. I eat at locations all across South Texas and Southern Louisiana. This location is not very good. Perhaps they just had a bad day. Air quality inside the store was slightly funky. I’ve smelled worse in other Golden Corral locations. Ordered medium steak and got medium rare. Not that big of a problem and I ate it anyway. I like to put the Pico De Gallo on my steak. They were out. Got some sauteed mushrooms to go with the steak and they were cold and uncooked. They looked good becauuse they were splashed with the sautee sauce. The other people at the table wanted some dinner rolls… they were out. Some finally came out of the bakery. We got a few and went to get some whipped butter… the container was empty. Tried some of the fried chicken… it tasted as though the oil it was fried in was old and burned. Tried the sesame chicken in their limited Asian offering. The chicken was ok. The fried rice was soaked in oil and you could visually see oil pooled in the bottom of the serving bowl. I could understand poorer food quality in the middle of the afternoon but this visit was prime time 6:30 pm. Store was not very crowded perhaps 30% capacity. The store near my house in Universal City is much better as are almost all of the other Golden Corral locations I have visited. This location is one of the older format designs. The newer designed locations offer more diverse food. My advice to everyone is to go to a different location.

My family and I have been coming here for over five years and I have to say it’s the best buffet in San Antonio and Helotes area. Food is steaming hot and fresh until my most recent visit. Came here on a Monday night for dinner and I was a little surprised with the crowds usually it gets crowded but at that night it wasn’t. Our waitress took about five minutes to greet us. The salad bar was full of veggies and dressings which wasn’t bad. After I had my usual salad I went to fill my dinner plate with steak with baked potato and sides. I was disappointed with the steak which I ordered well done. It tasted charred and burnt. When I went to the desert area I was a little shocked with the display it barely had anything and it looked old. I’m not sure if I would go back after this recent experience. I remember it being very crowded and great for large families. I hope the next experience here won’t be as unpleasant as this one.

Typical American buffet. I only like a few things here such as the dinner rolls and a couple other items. Wish it was a bit more clean and organized. Also more sanitized since there are many people around touching everything in site and moving things around. It gets messy very quick. Doesn’t hurt to have extra large liter bottles of Purel everywhere to keep hands a bit cleaner.

We enjoyed it. Kids especially. If you have friends or family in town and everyone has different taste for food in your house like mine then golden coral for you. They have little bit of everything for everyone.

I actually enjoyed this GC because the table next to us didn’t run out of the restaurant, yelling and cursing and chasing after their stolen vehicle. But an obese man sitting nearest the salad bar kept staring at us. At least my coffee was refilled 7 times. Why, however, would a middle-aged woman dip cotton candy into their chocolate fountain, so as to walk away with literally nothing but a big black mess? Slightly amusing. Mostly off-putting. Then again, when one’s consumed nearly their entire weight at a buffet, I guess strange behavior is expected. Rating specifics(i.e. 1 – 5, low-high)… — Overall recommendation = 2.25 — Food quality = 1.75(such averageness going on…) — Food variety = 3.5 — Price = 1.5($ 10 for pathetically mediocre food!) — Atmosphere = 2(why were pitchers of what appeared to be urine sitting by the trays and cash registers… random drug screening?) — General service = 2 — Waitstaff = 2.5 — Location = 2.5

Great waitress, kept the drinks filled and let our family focus on family. Steaks were better than expected — just realize well done is almost burnt so go for medium at most. And there was a variety of ribs with different sauces. Note: the rolls go fast but with the butter, you’ll know why. Very clean bathrooms and tables. A bit of a wait for food but that’s normal when in line at a buffet. Priced with taxes and a soda the dinner is about 15 dollars each — reasonable. Chocolate fondue fountain is fun. Only slight disappointment on the visit was the chocolate ice cream was empty when we got to dessert.

Very impressed with this location, amazing, all food was fresh, and good! From previous experiences was very hesitant about coming, I’m glad I gave in! Corn bread is beyond amazing, obviously they changed it up, because never have I had corn bread this good! Also wait staff, as well as the cashier were on it! Never had service been so good. In addition the man at the steak window was very nice friendly and polite. Will be back, sooner than I had planned!

Food is good as always staff very friendly, but I’m not crazy about the k-love music I loved the country music. We don’t go to a restaurant to just hear the music but it’s a part of the atmosphere. I believe in God and pray on my own time, but I was really uncomfortable about the constant word of God. I felt like I was in church. I can go into a list of why my family doesn’t attend but I won’t. If we want Golden Corral again I’ll drive to the other side of town.

Honestly I was not going to go since my wife and I are under 55 but we went and everything was great. Everything was hot and fresh and tasted good. The staff was great and place was really clean. All good ratings from us. We will be back to this location. The bourbon street lunch special was really good and the fried chicken. Enjoy.

Really good food and a wide assortment. However, their $ 9 price tag knocks ‘em down two stars. Sorry Corral… :(

This is a fine choice for a group looking to get out, and have a few options for dinner at one location, or one plate that can sample a variety of items without spending a small fortune at a mall food court. Service is very limited to drink refills and some condiment replacement. Food looks like it is served in safe conditions and cooked well without much special attention to presentation or appeal. I would not describe anything as flavorless, nor think that anyone’s palate would be sensitive to any of the items presented. The desert bar was a larger hit with the under 10 crowd than I possibly could have anticipated.

I’m really really not a fan of Golden Corral buffets and I’m not quite sure why. They have a million different types of foods and I’m sure it’s particularly kid-friendly if you have a picky eater on your hands, but I don’t know what all the talk is about. People I work with LOVE Golden Corral, but I just can’t seem to like it. It’s like $ 10 a person including a drink, but most of the food just sits there and gets cold under a hot plate. Also, I did order steak once during dinner time and the guy kept telling me he’d bring it to me and he never did. I went back up 10 minutes later and he didn’t even remember to cook it, it was just really strange. The only thing I found yummy here was the bread rolls and the chocolate fondue. Everything else was either cold or just tasteless. Totally not worth it. Would not recommend any Golden Corral or go here again!

The only thing saving this from being a one-star review is the fact that it’s a buffet, and high-quality food just isn’t typically in the cards for such an establishment. That being said, I was a member of a local business group that met up here on Fridays every week for networking. And it was the worst part of my week. You would think that would be difficult to accomplish, given that I was allowed out of work, during the day, on a Friday, and at a buffet no less– so I’d be able to pick whatever I was in the mood for each time(within reason)! Unfortunately, I consistently found that the food was mediocre all the way across the board. I rarely returned for a second plate of anything out of simple disinterest in the food– which made me resent the pricing. I don’t remember anything particularly unpleasant about the customer service or staff, and I’m sure they had to arrange to have the private room available to us each week, but given the continuous group that went you would have thought they’d have had a more active and positive role in situation– such as checking in on us or requesting feedback, to ensure that we would continue to meet up here. As I recall, the group was beginning to discuss new location options right around the time I decided to stop attending altogether. Considering it’s a buffet, the selection wasn’t quite as diverse as I’d expected, and the food was just mediocre if not bland all the way across the board. You’ve been warned.

The service was really good. The grilled items are great. I had steak and it was really good. The rest of the items were pretty forgettable, but it’s a buffet. If you’re into mass quantities for a low price then this is your thing.

Breakfast buffet Sat & Sun 7:30 — 11am for $ 7.89 each. A wide variety of choices and it was really tasty. I just wish they had the rolls at breakfast also.
