We found a flier at the hotel, so we thought it would be a fine place for an evening snack, delivered. The pizza that was delivered was all wrong, an hour late, and tasted like cardboard! We then decided to check the reviews and saw the picture of the«restaurant» and its location, All I can saw is OMFG… Yuck!!! and thank The Lord we did not get ill. And, yes, it was over priced to begin with and there was an unknown $ 10 delivery charge. There was Zero positives about this hole.

I wish there was a way to give 0 stars! This place is a scam. I have a similar experience to the other reviewer. I found this flyer under my door at a hotel. I called, was told the driver would deliver in 30 minutes. Guy was rude and seemed put off he had to deliver. Waited 1 hour, called back and told the guy he can shove his pizza. Asked the hotel front desk and they said this was a chronic issue and some employee sneaks into the hotel and places the flyers under the door. They told me they do not recommend this place due to poor service and stiffing customers on a regular basis. BEWARE! DONOTORDERFROMTHISPLACE!

I get back to my hotel room at 10 pm and I see Giovanni’s to-go menu slipped under my door. They are 1 mile away from the hotel and they close at 2 am. So i decide to order some food for delivery. I give them a call and the person on the phone did not seem happy at all when I told them it was for delivery. Long story short, I placed the order, person on the phone tells me it will be a 45 min wait, and by the end of the night, the food was never delivered and I was still hungry. =/

We received a flyer under our door at the Cowne Plaza hotel. Tired and not wanting to go out for dinner we gave them a call. I have had better grocery store pizza. It was cold as well.

Terrible service. Took 1−½ hours to get our food, and then it was the wrong food. When I called, they said the wrong order was delivered and they would send our correct order right over. We fell asleep after two more hours and they never showed up. A couple of days later I called to complain about the experience and rather than an apology the response I got was«So!» HAVENEVERDELTWITHSUCHANESTABLISHMENT and hope to never again!

THEWORST dining experience of my life. My friends and I ordered a pizza special(one large pizza and a six pack of diet coke) and was delivered two small pizzas with completely wrong ingredients and a liter of soda. We were told we still had to pay the full price for the pizza. We then called the next night and were told we would be getting a free pizza. After an hour, we spoke to a disgusting human being. He told me he would have someone’s «ass chewed out» for this. Then he told us there was nothing he could do, despite the fact that he was«the boss». He then hung up on us mid-sentence and when we called back, he told us he was the only person in the building. «It’s just me and my GUN.» His name is Bobby and it was UNBELIEVABLE the way he spoke to us on the phone. I’m disturbed and disgusted. And the pizza was horrible. I cannot believe this is a place of business with ANY sort of positive reviews. Awful.

The only two things I don’t like about Giovanni’s are: 1. Location: The area it’s in(next to a low-income housing project) is a pretty questionable place for a pizzeria. and 2. Hours: You don’t know when the place will close. 6pm is the time but depending on business, Giovanni will shut down earlier. Inconvenient for those that prefer to eat late. But the pizza is good. A little expensive but he is from NY and they know pizza so you get what you’re paying for. The cannoli is cheap and worth ending your meal off. And they have Mexican coke too. Giovanni is a real nice guy.

Perhaps the previous reviewer caught Giovanni’s on an off night or maybe they failed to see the charm of this local independent eatery. In my experience a visit to Giovanni’s is like dining at an old friends place. The owner(«Giovanni») is welcoming and gracious and the staff is friendly and fun. I can’t say I have tried the pasta but the pizza, sandwiches and desserts are definitely worth trying. Most things are made in house and if not they are as authentic as possible. The pizzas are handmade(try the Sicilian if you like deep dish), plus the salads are tasty due to the homemade dressings. As far as sweets go the homemade tiramisu is a must! There is the traditional as well as an amaretto flavored tiramisu. This is one of the best tiramisu’s I’ve had in town. Also, although the cheesecakes are not made in house, I was told that they are shipped in from NYC. Those from the San Antonio area might find a pizzeria in the heart of the Westside a bit out of the ordinary but that’s what makes Giovanni’s even quainter. When you walk in you might not be too sure what kind of place you are in, as it seems like a bit of a cross between a small pizzeria and convenience store. The convenience store feel comes mostly from the antique icebox that takes up almost a wall of the restaurant. But I digress. If you are looking for a place that is out of the local, not a chain and has some character then Giovanni’s is worth a trip. Oh, and like the last reviewer mentioned, the establishment is BYOB but still very family friendly.
