Garden Ridge Center For Dentistry

After a bumpy start here, I am pleased to say that I’ve found a great dentist!
Upon my first visit, Dr. Mark Howell said he found a pretty deep cavity, which might require a root canal. Having never had more than a surface cavity, I was shocked (angry even) thinking he was just trying to make some money off of me.
I went for a second opinion (to Dr. Voight in Stone Oak, who is wonderful) and he said Dr. Mark was not only right, but I was «lucky» Dr. Mark had found the cavity because it was pretty hard to see on the x-​ray.
A few weeks later, I had the filling done (no root canal — hooray!) and Dr. Mark was so nice about the whole ordeal saying, «Sometimes you need a second opinion» and encouraging me that «trust» is everything when it comes to finding a dentist. I agree wholeheartedly.
Recently, I chipped a tooth on a Friday and the office was closed; I left a message asking someone to get back to me on Monday, but was surprised when someone called me Saturday instead and squeezed me into the schedule for the next business day.
I am been so satisfied with Dr. Mark and his staff. They are kind and understanding, and the office is lovely. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.

There isn’t enough space to write all the positive comments about Drs. Mark and Maria Lopez Howell.
Ever since we moved to Texas, they have taken the best care of our family of eight. Our kids have been seeing them, including when our daughter was 3 and our son was 4. They always made them feel comfortable and relaxed, and now the kids actually look forward to going to the dentist. Many dentists would want to use nitrous oxide, but our kids trust them enough that it’s really not necessary.
We’ve had a couple of emergencies, including our very first visit, and they have always accommodated our need to see them promptly.
The hygienists are the most gentle, yet thorough, and the assistants are cheerful and helpful as well. Even the front desk staff are incredibly friendly and joyful. Their rates are reasonable in comparison to other dentists, but it’s the outstanding service and professionalism that sets this office apart.
I cannot imagine getting anything else but the best treatment possible with Drs. Mark and Maria. It really doesn’t matter which one treats our family members, because both of them are skilled, professional, and very, very patient and friendly. They treat us all like we’re a part of their family.
And, no, I’m not a paid endorser — just a very, very happy patient among a family of them!

If you are looking for someone who is good with children, then look for someone else. Dr. Marie is good with kids but not her husband. Luckily for us we were leaving shortly after I found this out but if we hadnt moved I would certainly not bring my 7 year old back here. The dental hygenists are really nice but I question how much they charge and what insurance covers. With the exception of 1 or 2 times, I always walked out feeling like I was getting screwed on the bill. For military families moving to the area, I recommend going somewhere else.
