I’m a firm believer that the key to success is through your haircut. Galvan’s Barber Shop is IT.

I took a weekend and flew down from Vermont to San Antonio to relax and take care of some business. It’s almost impossible to get a good haircut in Vermont so one thing I wanted to do was get a proper haircut from a proper barbershop. After a little research, I found Galvans. Real deal barbershop. Best haircut I’ve had in years. Love this place. Even the other people waiting to get their turn were great. Highly recommended.

«best in town»? gotta be kidding. i’m new to town, needed a simple fade, told the owner what i wanted the second i sat in the chair. simple fade… want the top to grow out… told him twice. nodded, yesd me, and then started just buzzing my head on top. 3 mins later it was over thanks for not charging me for the shitty buzz cut i could have done at home. and it’s not even… even. it’s choppy for fucks sake. how do you fuck up a buzz cut? offered me 2 free haircuts… right… not gonna take you up on the offer… I told him thank god you don’t tattoo…

Decent haircut for a reasonable price. Outside looks very run down and neglected. Inside is stuffed full of animal trophies, fishing ornaments, and various pirates decorations. Small shop with only two chairs. Haircut is fast with a reasonable price. This is a no nonsense haircut. They finish the haircut with a straight razor cleaning around the neckline and side burns. Pretty cool.

Small, down home shop. The guys have great attitudes. I went in a few weeks back and there were quite a few people ahead of me, but the wait was extremely short. They definitely cut right to the skin, which I appreciate. The fade point could have used some work, but all in all everything I need in a barbershop. Accommadating, fast quality service, and inexpensive. I will be going here again this weekend.

Great barbershop. Did an awesome taper fade. I will definitely return again. P. S. this is a more masculine barbershop but feels homey. Low prices.

A man’s barbershop.
You can get any haircut you want here, as long as it’s on the poster. Not a place to talk about your feelings with your «stylist.» Do not ask for texture shears. You will not be offered a cup of tea. Just tell ‘em what kind of cut you want and then shoot the bull until you leave. Or just be quiet.
Stag heads and model pirate ships adorn the walls, complimented by the odor of musk and Barbasol. Conversations wander through a narrow range of man-​topics, from sporting news to whimsical misogyny. It’s just that kind of place. And I’d have it no other way.
Haircuts come with a straight razor clean up around the neck line and sideburns. Or you can pay a few more bucks for the full straight razor shave. Not too many places where you can have that done any more.
You should also know that fast service is not part of the DNA of Galvan’s. There are two barber chairs here, and lots of places to sit and wait for your turn. So when you stop in for a cut, make sure you allow plenty of extra time to enjoy the experience. You won’t regret allowing yourself a little man-​time.

I took my son here for a haircut (found it on google search for barber shops off mccollough) and we had a very pleasant experience. The haircut was quick but I watched Jerry and he really did a nice job (the neck shave is a big plus!) The shop is very small — 2 chairs, but the waiting chairs are cushy theater seats — very comfy! The barber was very polite with my son when asking him to turn this way and that (and my son can be a bit fidgety!) The price was right and parking is available (always a plus when downtown!) We’ll definitely be back.
