Quiet little gallery tucked into a San Antonio neighborhood. BF’s mentor from art school was having a show here along with other Houston artists, so we made sure we stopped in. For a commercial gallery, it’s quite beautiful and the pieces were displayed very well. There’s a second story connected to the ground floor by a winding staircase with additional space, and the interior is designed with plenty of light and air. The owner was a wonderfully nice woman who showed us some pieces in the backyard when we expressed some familiarity with the artists being exhibited.(There’s even a small pool in case your feet get overheated during a gallery opening.) In our experience, gallery owners can be a little prickly if you’re obviously not there to buy, but she seemed delighted to talk art with us. This is definitely worth a stop if you’re in San Antonio and interested in looking at art past the museum scene. FYI, the Unilocal map is slightly inaccurate – we turned two streets too soon, but there is a picture on the website that will help you get there.
