Fred’s Fish Fry

I’ve been eating at Fred’s since they opened in San Antonio on the South side over 40 years ago. Super cheap hot fried rectangular fish patties. Nothing special, but always hot and just plain good fried fish with two slices of fresh white bread and shoestring french fries. Don’t get the oysters! They’re not even recognizable as oysters! Never have been. This place is not for seafood «aficionados!» No high class seafood here. Just fast, cheap, hot fried rectangular breaded fish patties. I love this place and always will. I can’t even get my wife to come near this place… she doesn’t like seafood much at all, and if she’s going to eat seafood, it has to be fancy shmancy expensive Papadeaux’s. Don’t get me wrong. I love Papadeaux’s also, but for quick and cheap and nothing fancy, give me Fred’s Fish Fry!

Don’t ask for extra ketchup, they will charge you. But it’s ok to give 10 packs of salt and 7 packs of tarter sauce. I’m even tried to return all the extra condiments because I don’t use them, but still extra for ketchup. Never again!
