The only real redeeming quality of this place in my opinion was the food. And that was a bit misleading. I ordered their burrito and from the image that is displayed of said item, I got two little versions of it. The reason for my rating being of two stars is because we waited about 5 – 7 minutes at the drive-thru window & when we completed our order and got to the window to pay, we waited another 10 – 15 minutes! It was ridiculous in the customer service sense.

Great food, not only chicken, finally a place in San Antonio that has authentic Papa Asada, needs more Mexican crema on the potato. Has taquitos and hamburguesa asada too! Gave it 4 stars cuz beans are extra, and soda machine not working.

Came here for lunch, and was amazed by the chicken! I got the chicken quesadillas, which were absolutely delicious! They had a wide variety of chicken dishes– all of which were reasonably priced for the size that you get and all the sides. They offer an array of salsas, which were all delectable. They have about five different varieties of salsas in a self-serve bar, along with limes and onions. I especially enjoyed the green sauce, it was creamy, tasted of cilantro and lime with just a hint of spiciness. The onions and limes looked like they had been sitting out for a while. My quesadillas came with pico de gallo, which was obviously freshly made, guacamole, also very fresh, and sour cream, which I didn’t sample. The service was very good. I was greeted with a smile, and the food came out very promptly. They apologized profusely for the soda machine being busted, but they had sodas in the back, and were happy to give free refills. They also offered Mexican sodas, and aguas frescas, which adds to the authenticity of the place! The chicken here is smoked, which is not the typical way of cooking chicken north of the border. It gives it a crispy feel on the outside, and they use a rub or marinade that gives it a sweet and citrus taste to it. I understand that the style of chicken comes from Monterrey, Mexico, and I am now a big fan. The quesadillas were amply sized, loaded with plenty of their scrumptious chicken, cheese, tomatoes, and onions. It was cooked on the griddle so it’s perfectly crispy. I didn’t try the desserts, but I saw that they have a wide variety of Mexican dulces. I suspect that they’re not made here, but come from a local bakery. All the desserts were reasonably priced at three dollars, and all of them were huge! I would have tried them, but I was stuffed after the quesadillas! This location has an outside dining area. It’s in the shade, and offers a scenic view of Bandera Rd. The location was clean, well lit, and had easy parking. They also offer free wifi, and had a television tuned into a Mexican soccer match. The reason I gave it four stars instead of the perfect five star rating is due to the fact that the soda machine was broken, they didn’t offer any silverware, and were out of lids for the salsas(I would have taken a few cups home, it was so good!) The restroom was somewhat tidy, but they were lacking a paper towel holder, and a soap dispenser. The soap was in a bottle by the sink, missing a pump to apply it to your hands. This location was not very busy inside. I came in during the lunch rush, and there was only one other family dining. However, the drive-thru does swift business! In the thirty minutes I sat there, there must have been at least twenty cars come and go through the drive-thru! It seems that’s the popular way to do it around here. I’ll certainly be back. Next time, I gotta try the whole chicken meal deal. I saw more of those things go out the drive-thru window than any other dish, hands down.

Love the food and love the service. Very clean from the inside and out. The cashier greeted us with a smile and was very welcoming. I’ve been to this location two times and had a great experience on both occasions.

I am very picky about my chicken especially when a restauraunt advertises that it has an authentic Regio(Monterrey, MX region) style cuisine. I have been blessed to experience this cuisine first hand as my family is from there and I travelled there for months at a time to visit friends, family, and spend summers in that amazing Mexican city. This city is dear to my heart and brings out a lot golden memories. So when I drove by, because I work nearby, I HAD to stop to check out the menu. Let me tell you the food here is delicious. The baked potato with fajita meet is to die for. The portions are very appropriate for the price. They have some good lunch specials and family specials. So if you are trying to feed a large crowd, you must check them out. They have a very fresh chicken salad that is low on carbs it is a must try. I would also suggest they’re grilled jalapeño with any meal. They are nicely toasted with just the right amount of spice. I have also tried the hamburger, the torta, tacos, and quesadillas ever since. They are carefully prepared and they are delicious. And for dessert you MUST try the churros. They are the first churros that I taste that are perfectly tender and seasoned correctly instead of a big stick of flour. My coworkers love this place! What I liked even more about this place was the cashier’s friendliness and the management team’s desire to be better. They always are friendly, courteous, and professional. But more than anything thrive on recommendations to make the experience much more pleasant. You HAVE to check this out at least once.

While driving down Bandera Rd today I noticed a new location of El Pollo Regio so, of course, I had to drop what I was doing and pick up a chicken meal to take home. If you’re a fan of Pollo Loco but haven’t tried El Pollo Regio, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. The chicken is delicious, nice and charred with a slightly spicy, slightly citrusy marinade. The chicken deal comes with 1 whole chicken, a tub of rice, a tub of charros, homemade corn tortillas, some lime wedges and some of thier green and red salsas for 15 bucks. The green salsa is something special. It’s a smooth, creamy avocado-chile sauce with the perect amount of bite to go with thier chicken and corn tortillas. Pollo Regio is my favorite of all the pollo places. Highly recommended. .plus they have a drive thru. How can you beat that?
