The big fat gross pervy bouncers make this place a joke. I wouldn’t go back if I was paid!

This place is AWFUL and I would not give one star if I could, this is due to blatant disrespect and discrimination from a man twice my size. I have never been so disrespected by a person in front of a whole bar the DOORGUY who is there every night basically big muscles and very rude decides to yell at me for no reason. I am a 23 year old young woman who got SCREAMED at by the door guy for asking why it’s not okay that my boyfriend comes in with a small hand tattoo while all of his tattoos are covered by a collared shirt. Instead of receiving any type of explanation a guy I have never met in my life starts verbally assaulting me in front of 30 plus people about how my boyfriend isn’t allowed in the bar because of his tattoos. I mean screaming, and the owner just stood there and let this man speak to my boyfriend and myself like this. We have been to this place a few times even going on our first date here, we have never caused problems, but I just could not believe the lack of professionalism by the owner and the door guy. I mean really dude you had to make yourself feel better by screaming at a young woman? Where is the respect here? There is none, and I didn’t realize I would experience discrimination by someone who is supposed to protect the people inside the bar. I will never go here again because it is not right that someone screams at you when you had done nothing wrong. Calling someone«stupid» for being someone that has tattoos is not okay, and this place is terrible due to the door guy!

I love coming here when Mario Flores Band plays! The band is really good and brings out a positive and fun vibe! The drink specials are much cheaper than other saloons I’ve been too. And the mixed drinks are good! The staff is super friendly! The women who work here are always friendly to me and they always remember what my boyfriend like to drink! We love to come for holidays like New Years! It’s a fun place with cheap drinks and great music!

If you’re into dirty country bars that smell like barbecue, this is your place! If you’re not, the people watching was worth the limited alcohol selection. Music was live and DJ-ed country, okay. There was a splash of contemporary music also. Be sure to leave the bar and public parking lot by 2 am. If not an angry door guy will, «shut off,» the restroom and tell you to get out of the shopping center parking lot(with ZERO authority to do so).

This is a nice chill spot. Service was friendly and fast. The bartender remembered my drink order after the first trip. Now this may not sound like much but I would get the drink orders for my entire table and they were very specific. Way to be attentive bartender. The men’s room has an attendant and he is very welcoming. All a mans needs right there in the boys room. From cologne to gum he had it all. This was a very nice touch to the atmosphere. Overall had a good time.

No arm tattoos is ridiculous — especially in today’s society. The ace is called Cooter Brown’s for Heavens sake. Not respecting our military boys is unacceptable to me. Thank fellow Unilocalers for the heads up on this place.

Evidently our military men and woman are good enough to fight and die for this country we all love… but not good enough to be allowed service at Cooter Browns if they happen to have tattoos on their arms!!! Does anyone else see anything wrong with this!!! Trust me, Cooter Browns is not worth going to if this is how they treat our fighting men and women, and everyone that reads this should agree that we are not living in the 60’s any longer, we are past the age of discrimination!!! Just because you have tattoos doesn’t make you a criminal!!! Cooter Browns should be ashamed of theirselves!!!

To put it simply, this establishment discriminates against their patrons. I am active duty military and I was not allowed to enter because of my arm tattoos, which are in no way gang related or offensive. Additionally, the staff inside are actually pretty great. It’s unfortunate that they operate with this ridiculous tattoo policy. I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone.

I felt like I walked into a time machine back to the 80’s and 90’s with the«Top 40» they played. Not to mention, it just wreaks of desperation. Couldn’t pay me to visit this establishment again.

Ok so this was my first time here. Not knowing what to expect I went in to meet some friends. It was a Great. I loved the place. My kind of music upbeat fun. The only drawbacks that I found was it took a long time to get drinks & the place was too small for the amount of people. The dance floor could be bigger also. But I do have to say the people I met there were friendly as well as the bartenders. it was friendly all around. I am not sure when the best night to go on would be but Tuesday night was not a bad night. I will defiantly have to go back and see how the other nights are.

I always have a great time whenever I come to Cooter Brown’s. CB is tucked away neatly off the intersection of Bandera and 1604 and it’s nice when I don’t have to drive all the way to Thirsty Horse, Wild Wild West, or Cowboys even. The drink specials here are superb and I especially love Fireball when it’s on special. This venue is a little bit smaller than others but I feel the patio outside makes up for it! Their patio is awesome no matter what the weather outside. During the winter they have tents and all to help keep you from the cold and during the Summer it’s a great place to knock back a few drinks while listening to some great Country. For those who aren’t always wanting to listen to Country– I can assure you they do play a nice variety to break up the two-stepping folks in case if you’re coming here for a birthday or celebration. They’ll have live music acts at time which gives it a great Texan feel. The best part is how they don’t charge a cover to get in. Never a fan of cover charges. The décor on the walls is really neat and take a look at all the details if it’s your first time here.

I can’t even give this place a single star considering my wife and I were physically assaulted by the«security staff», or should I say, fat asses who believe they are entitled because someone gave them a flashlight and a minimum wage job that makes them feel like a cop. Simply walking through this fine establishment a 250lb security guard was guiding a group of girls through who I guess thought in his wildest dreams would give him a BJ later was pushing customers out of the way with physical force when I finally said something, next thing I know my wife is being thrown down a hallway and body slammed against a wall by 3 individuals while I was tossed over a railing and out the back door. I absolutely should have filed a police report and am still kicking myself for not. Only giving it a star because Unilocal required me too and people need to see this.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. It doesn’t even deserve the one. This place is so horrible. DONOTGOTOTHISBAR! First off their entire staff is completely rude. They do not have any draft beer. It takes about 20 minutes to get a single beer. And it takes about the same amount of time to use the bathroom. The place gets so packed you can not even move. There is no where to stand. The dance floor is too small. The price you pay for a beer is way too much for the shitty time you have at this place. They do not give out birthday shots. They will not let you into the bar if you have ANY tattoos showing. The people who go to this bar is an older crowd. The bouncers WILL yell at you for no reason. I have personally got into several altercations with them. I am warning everyone to stay away from this place and save your time and money to go to a REAL bar.

I don’t like this place for numerous reasons. First they do not have Draft beer. What the heck. And they don’t have a very good selection of bottled beer. Now the main reason they only get 1 star is that they do not allow people with excessive tattoos in their bar. THISISPREJUDICEANDWRONG. The Lead Preacher at my church is heavily tattooed. You won’t allow someone like him in? My husband is heavily tattooed and he is an amazing man, husband, father to our smart, wonderful kids and a successful business owner. You won’t let him in? My friend has some of the neatest tattoos that everyone including children love and you won’t let her in? I can go on but you get the point. You will not get my business ever again. And I will make sure to tell everyone who is heavily tattooed that your establishment discriminates against people with tattoos. Truly disgusted with this place because of that.

Before reading this please realize I have worked in the industry for over a decade. Opening restaurants for owners and bartending, etc. It has been around a month or so since my first visit to Cooters. Sadly, due to pure ignorance I will never go there again. As my trip was short there was some perks and then the purely negative. First off, the place is pretty clean and it draws a decent crowd. The bartenders, mainly women, beautiful women dressed similar to a naughty Catholic school girl. Nothing wrong with that, right? I agree. Unfortunately, there is something wrong with that. The bar is a sausage fest, a tool shed. Yes, guys surround the bar to stare at some young ladies who might throw them a smile. On the weekend it does get busy with a semi-able dance crowd. For the most part the bartenders know what they are doing at least. Now, for the bad. With such a high focus on the male, it becomes clearly a place most would end up not liking. The place has bouncers, big fat Mexican ones who look like they would sweat to death on you if you started trouble. This is one of the main sad stays of this place. While parking I had a truck, big dumb truck, stop in the middle of the parking lot and proceed to not move. After a minute I honked LIGHTLY. After another 3 minutes, after playing on my phone and texting where I was the truck still hadn’t moved. I honked again before having to back up and go around the truck that took up the whole lane. Absurd, right. Not quite. The most absurd part is that the person in the truck was one of the fat Mex bouncers that works there. What a treat! In addition, he had the nerve to approach and ask me if I was the one in the car in the parking lot. He said I shouldn’t have road rage or he would throw me out next time. If my employees ever confronted a paying customer about anything, especially something they were at fault for they would be fired on the spot! Instead of talking to management, which I hope is not reflected in the employees, I just left and will not return. Another really horrible setup is the parking situation. On the weekends and days they may anticipate a crowd, there is a valet service. Really, valet? Reallllyyy? Get this though… the valet is the whole parking lot by the entrance and the bar. So in other words, if you don’t tip the service you have to park a quarter mile away and walk it. I hope any man is sensible enough to drop his lady at the door and then park, if you were daring enough to bring a woman there in the first place. So sadly, this place rates a big sad no. Hopefully, management is working to create something better because as of now the place is pathetic.
