Dr Kyzar & Dr Izard treat my pets with the upmost care and really take the time to explain everything to me.
The staff are like friends every time we go there and everyone greets me and whichever dog I have with me.

This morning I brought my 17-​year-​old Siamese boy in for what I was afraid might be a life-​threatening kidney or bladder problem. Dr. Kyzer and his sweet assistant (I’m sorry that I’ve forgotten her name, but she was very kind and helpful) were both excellent with my frightened cat, and he instantly became calm under their gentle hands.
After a thorough physical exam, he was given an ultrasound, and I was allowed to help hold his little feet and scritch under his chin to keep him calm while it was done, and I was able to see the ultrasound as it was being performed, while Dr. Kyzer explained what I was seeing. Then a urine sample was taken so gently that I don’t think my little guy even noticed it!
Back in the exam room, everything was gone over with me and a path forward was discussed. I am so grateful for the genuine care and kindness shown by every member of this staff, and especially by Dr. Kyzer, the Cat-​Whisperer!
As others have mentioned, the waiting room is large and sparkling clean, there is an enclosed yard (I assume for doggie-​bathroom purposes), and the exam rooms are spotless. The professional fees are quite reasonable, especially considering that this is the best veterinary practice I’ve ever known. Like many others living on Social Security, that also means a lot to me. Highest possible recommendation.

I was so upset when I saw the intense injuries my 10-​year-​old kitty incurred from a cat fight. I didn’t have a local vet and I couldn’t afford the emergency pet hospital rates, but i had to get him treated. Upon a recommendation from my neighbor, I called them. Everyone I’ve talked to and saw was very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. He had wounds over most of his body.
Then, we had to go back a few weeks later because one of the deep puncture wounds abscessed over the holiday weekend, no less. They offered to work him into the schedule. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take him in until that Tuesday. They got him in right away. Everyone spent the time explaining what was going on, what to do and made my very upset, aggressive kitty very comfortable.
I’ve gone to other pet hospitals before where they usually won’t let me help to handle Sebastian because he growls, hisses, and is generally upset at the vet not to mention, scared and in pain. But here, they allowed me to show them where he was injured and let Sebastian «hide» under my hand and arm, which calmed him down so they can do what they needed to do without having to sedate him; which makes all the difference in the world.
The waiting room is very clean and comfortable as well as the exam room and I am so appreciative of the how friendly everyone is here. Thank you!

I love this place!
We have 2 happy little dogs no health issues, we go regularly to take the dogs in for checkups and always given as much time as we need with Dr Kyzer. He is knowledgeable and understands pets. We had one instance when we had to take one of our dogs in and he was able to see us. I really like the office it is big and feels modern and clean! It does not feel like a animal clinic/​hospital its just really nice. Prices are reasonable, I am a believer of you get what you pay for and going to Community Pet health Clinic is worth every penny.

If you are not taking your pets to Community Pet Health Clinic, you are missing out big!
Both Dr. Kyziar and Dr. Izzard are the BEST in San Antonio. We have tried other Vets over the past twenty years and many were compassionate, but CPHC takes it to a whole new level. The Dr’s spend time to explain what is going on with your pet and provide several options. They are truly concerned with your medical situation and not focused on their pocketbook.
For our situation, we have two aging Weimarinars, with multiple health issues. We are frequent flyers and know each time we will be taken care of by the entire staff, from checking in to checking out.

I have been very lucky in finding Community Pet Health Center when I relocated back home to SA. The facilities are awesome & the staff is topnotch! Dr. Kyzar has diagnosed, treated, researched, verified & cared for my many fur babies over the past four years. In November 11′ he diagnosed my cat-​baby Kiki with cancer in her chest cavity. Apparently it had spread from a cancerous tumor at the rabies injection site that had been successfully removed a few months prior. He correctly predicted that she would need to be let go in about two weeks because it was very advanced. Two weeks later he stood there with me as she slipped away forever.
About a month after that he had the task of informing me that my cat-​baby Houdini’s cancerous tumor at the rabies injection site had come back for a second time. He referred me to a surgical specialist, when the surgeon told me the chances of it coming back again & possibly killing him faster I couldn’t choose that option. I went back to Dr. Kyzar & asked him to explain how the tumor would run its course eventually claiming Houdini’s life. Again he correctly predicted that when summer came, it would probably be time to let him go. On July 13^th he stood there again with me as Houdini left me behind.
I cannot express the depth of Dr. Kyzar’s kindness & professionalism. He respected my choices & remembered how I had struggled with the decision to let the cancer run its course, to not put Houdini through another surgery or through radiation or chemotherapy. I still have 2 dogs, 2 cats & a rabbit, so I will see more of Dr. Kyzar in the future & I know he will always be there for me & my babies whenever I need him.

Cancer.
The term is terrifying when it connects to the humans you love but once attached to a furry friend takes on a whole new meaning. In this case, my beloved best bud Mocha Frappuccino was diagnosed by Community Pet Health a week ago and the word just means something different somehow.
In this case, cancer means a disease that will be expensive and hard to fight because she’s an old dog. But, this vet stepped up and has helped me explore every option to begin the battle. He didn’t just throw price my way but instead threw affordable and effective treatment plans that just might save my mutt. And I appreciate it beyond words.
He was humane. He was loving. He expressed so much concern for Miss Mocha Chino that I felt somehow comforted. And then he bent down and nuzzled her and looked back up at me with a tear in his eye that showed more compassion than I’d ever expect from a doctor you visit twice a year. That’s a high order for any health care professional, I’d imagine, but one who deals with animals, it just soars in my opinion. He’s not giving up on my baby and neither am I.
I can’t recommend this Vet enough. He’s way out of my way but worth it time and again. Not only is he knowledgeable, he’s an animal lover and can relate to patients as such. He understands that your pets are more than just that — they’re your babies, your best friends and your companions who deserve a fighting chance!

Thank you Dr. Jeff Lord for being the best Vet ever! You have taken the best care with my animals and I have 2 cats now and a dog that just passed. After my beloved dog passed, I received a letter from a Dean at a Veterinary School and it said your made a generous donation to benefit a student’s tuition and it was made in memory to my dog Schatzie. I will never forget her and you always treated her with the most genuine concern and love for her well being. She trusted you and animals have a sixth sense about people and she liked your aura. I will always come back to you for my pets care and highly compliment and recommend everyone to entrust you for the best care for their pets!
