The potato and leak soup was tasty and the quiche was pretty good. I received a vanilla latte in a mug instead of a cappuccino in a to-go cup. I didn’t know till it was too late, but the latte was fine. The food here is comparable to Bakery Lorraine, but I don’t think it’s as good and the selection isn’t as large. However, the atmosphere is cozier, so I’d probably come back just for that. I imagine their patio is a nice place to chill during the summer.

Commonwealth is an Adorable coffeehouse to hang out visiting. I found it on Unilocal and after reading great reviews I wanted to try it plus I got a free coffee. My daughters and I spent an hour catching up outside on the picnic tables with comfy seats.(you can grab a pillow). The backyard shady area has a turf yard and planter boxes full of fresh herbs, veggies, and fruit trees. The chicken coop is fun to stare at. Our bacon and egg tortillas were ok, only because they turned out to be ham and egg. The surprise was two came in a basket and I thought I was getting one. The setting and great brewed coffee will keep me coming back to this trendy coffeehouse.

This place is gorgeous! Coffee and pastries were delicious. The ambience was Parisian and full of life. It made my wife and I happy just to be there. Park in the back bc street parking is horrible. This place is a bubble with nothing but happy thoughts inside!

This is a lovely little spot to grab breakfast or lunch. Staff was courteous, food was delicious, and it was prepared really quickly. I loved the décor and looking around at the garden and chicken coop in the back! I just wish there would have been prices on the board that advertised their seasonal specials, but I’m frugal like that. I got the summer tuna salad and it was such a beautifully and freshly prepared dish! I’m looking forward to getting up early to try their breakfast tacos soon.

I’ve been coming here since they opened. Better food quality checks should be done. The Croissant Bechamel I ordered was stone cold is if right out of the refrigerator. The pastries are still the best in town.

Great coffee and delicious pastries. I haven’t tried their menu items and have been wanting to do so. Such a charming place with great coffee and food that is worth the hype. Their chocolate fondant sells out quickly. It is rich and decadent if you are a chocolate lover. The almond and even their plain croissants are buttery and flaky. I only wish they were open longer on Saturdays… Wonderful bakery!

I’ve been looking for good coffeehouse places in SA ever since I moved from Houston. This place by far is the cutest and best coffeehouse I’ve been to so far. The food and coffee here are delicious and are at reasonable prices! I got the chicken tarragon salad, mocha coffee(in an adorable cat mug), with a canele that left me super full and happy. The interior and atmosphere is wonderful and is a perfect place to study with friends! I would definitely recommend this place to a friend if they want amazing food and coffee!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been served coffee this way. This place is surreal. The owners are obviously experts in there field. Everything is top notch/high class. Food is above average and coffee is relaxing and smooth.

Such an awesome place! The décor and ambiance is great with indoor and outdoor seating, not to mention the food here is delicious! Came here with friends and was able to escape the stresses of everyday life and enjoy a good lunch out on the patio. We came on a Friday at around 12:30 pm and it was pretty busy. I ordered the salad they had listed on the chalk board by the front door– House Glaze Salad. I wasn’t too crazy about it, felt like it needed to have more avocado and mozzarella. My friends had the Potato Leek soup and the Tomato Mozzarella sandwich. Both of those options were so good! As far as coffee and drinks, we tried the water of the day since it looked refreshing, but I really didn’t like it. I’m not too sure if it was the fruit or the water, but it had an odd taste and smell. It wasn’t cold and I also didn’t like that they didn’t have ice available for it. They dont even ask you if you want any ice, you have to specifically ask for it. We also tried their Chai Latte and that didn’t disappoint. It was amazing! Overall, I feel like this place is great and I’m really excited to go back and try other menu items!

I came here to lunch with my friends and had a great experience. I love this place and hope to be back soon. I love the way it is decorated and all the outdoor seating. There isn’t a lot of space inside and it was pretty busy when I went for lunch(it was Good Friday so I’m not sure if that is why or if it’s always like that) so we sat outside. It worked out perfectly because it was a beautiful day and the outdoor seating is cool. There are too sections to sit outside and I kind of regret not picking the one with the chickens because I wanted to see them. Next time! The food didn’t take long to come out which is convenient when you need to get back to work at a decent hour. I wasn’t a big fan of the water of the day, and neither did my friends. Maybe it was just an off day but it had a weird taste and smell. Besides that their chai latte is delicious, so I definitely recommend that especially if you’re like me and aren’t a coffee drinker. I loved all of the food. I tried everything my friends had lol and liked that as well. I recommend the potato and leek soup, which I had. I liked it more than the tomato basil but they are both really good. I wasn’t too thrilled about the salad that was on the board for the lunch special. I felt like it needed more avocado but then again is there every enough avocado on anything? Next time I’m going to make sure to get the Commonwealth salad like I should have originally because it sounds amazing. The tomato mozzarella sandwich is such a great meatless option. It was really good and filling too. I get really excited when a place has a good vegetarian sandwich!

This has to be one of my favorite spots right now! You feel right at home with the beautifully decorated outdoor patio — everything else is just as cute. Also, they have a chicken coop with super happy chickens(best way to keep kiddos entertained). The tarragon chicken croissant my husband had was perfection. I had the quiche(played it safe) and our little one had the pb&j + nutella. Overall, satisfied customers!

Commonwealth is a gorgeous, quaint coffee shop that serves as a bastion of respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. The coffee is smooth, the pasties are fresh, and the prices are humble. There’s ample parking in the back and also chickens — actual, happy chickens making happy little eggs for happy customers. There are actually two washrooms, by the way! One inside, one out~ Always good to know the toilet situation of any place you visit hahaha Lots of outlets, a variety of seating, and cute baristas(always a plus). Highly recommend the visit if you’re ever in town!

I lived in Paris for a year and haven’t had croissants like the ones over there until I found CommonWealth. The space is wonderful. The interior is cozy and welcoming, the front patio has a little fountain and bistro tables and chairs, and the back patio is an enclosed garden with couches and tables. Now the food. The chefs are French, and you can tell. Croissants and caneles are out of this world. That chicken tarragon salad is unlike any typical«chicken salad» — that chunky stuff laden with mayonnaise and some other junk. This is pulled chicken, very very lightly dressed with mayo, some cranberries, tarragon and something else I can’t figure out. It’s spectacular. And their Vicyssoise soup. I went back three days IN A ROW for this stuff after I tried it for the first time. Enough said. Their lattes are the best in the city. We come here just about every weekend and I am so grateful this beautiful little spot with its absolutely perfect food exists here in San Antonio.

Was in San Antonio for work and ate at this place for lunch twice. I wish I just ate here for all 4 lunches! It us the cutest little place EVER. Love the interior and decorations. The coffee area is SO cute. Food was DELISH. Pastries were amazing. Service was great. Their chicken terragon salad croissant was perfect. I don’t normally like chicken salad sandwiches because I feel it’s just fenced in mayo but theirs was perfect! I also loved their tomato soup and fried goat cheese with strawberry salad. Their hibiscus tea was AMAZING. I definitely miss this place!!!

I had the chorizo and egg breakfast taco today(a departure from my usual(and amazing) almond croissant. It was the best breakfast taco I’ve ever had! I also managed to sneak a few bites of my husband’s chocolate croissant before he wolfed it down… golden, flaky and seriously tasty! Next time, I’m hitting the patio!

CW coffee house is awesome!!! This place totally rocks! I think they opened about 6 months or so. But they are off to a great start. First of all, they could decorate my house anytime. Love the interior! It’s so cozy and so inviting, I wish I was a student so I could go there everyday and just sit there and surf the web all day and sip on cappuccinos and indulge on the amazing butter croissants made there. Another great thing about CW is they have not one but two patios! One in the front and one in the back. Both very nice. Especially on a nice cool SA morning. One thing for sure, front patio is dog friendly and that is a plus in my book. Besides coffee and croissants, CW now offers breakfast tacos and other items on their menu for breakfast.

What a great little coffee house. I would of never of found this place it Tomas had not arranged an introductory Unilocal event here. I am now a fan. The staff here is absolutely wonderful. They go out of their way to make every patron feel like a VIP. I love the tables out on the front porch. So relaxing and inviting. The porch is pooch friendly too. There is off street parking behind Commonwealth. It is accessible from Davis Ct and Hildebrand. This is the perfect place to slowly wake up on a Saturday morning with a wonderful cup of coffee and a fabulous croissant or 3 :) This is a very popular place on Saturday mornings so the parking lot may be full as may the tables. Good places draw crowds. I do wish there was an easier way to access the tables in the garden area and getting to the restroom can be a squeeze. A great place with wonderful product and service.

Great tasting food and comfortable, cozy atmosphere. It’s easy to miss this restaurant since its exterior looks like a cottage, complete with outdoor fountain and seating. There’s parking in the back, so take note of the small sign pointing you to drive through cement tiles and the side of the building. There’s actually quite a bit of parking available. The chicken croissant sandwich was very delicious. A perfectly blend of chicken and leafy greens with a hint of orange and purple colored… Flower petals? The coffee has a great flavor and is definitely recommended for those who prefer a local coffee flavor. The inside feels like an intimate home with small chairs and tables, plus couch. It’s fairly small inside so could get a bit cramped on a busy day. Bring a book to read or take a stroll in their garden, complete with homegrown herbs and even chickens clucking. You would be hard pressed to find anything like this in Sa Antonio, a blend of French and Mexican flavor.

A 2011 graduate of UIW, I wasn’t fortunate enough to have daily experienced the pleasure of this unique eatery. Not only has Broadway cleaned up considerably since then, but the general area continues to benefit from an overall sprucing up which includes — and is by no means limited to – numerous business renovations, new housing developments, etc. Among these welcome upgrades is the addition of one of San Antonio’s hippest cafés to date… CommonWealth Coffeehouse & Bakery. Manned by an outstanding team, the shop’s 3 greatest attributes are its staff’s abundant friendliness, relatability & hospitality, its culinary creativity, and its actively fostering a strong community of like-minded people. These, along with simply awesome coffeehouse novelties(i.e. outdoor living room, vegetable garden, chicken coop, see-through kitchen, etc.), contribute to a downright lively, engaging, and super welcoming environment. It’s no secret that some cafés blatantly lack all of the above… thus the growing word-of-mouth and popularity of CommonWealth doesn’t surprise me at all. Alamo Heights is certainly lucky to have them in their backyard. All the stops have been pulled out at this place. Perfecting the«upgraded café palette,» CW hired on a full-time chef from France, resulting in a culinary troop whose dishes and pastries FAR exceed expectations, whether savory or sweet. Promoting local happenings, CW boldly supports numerous philanthropic initiatives as equally as artists seeking to expose their work. And lastly, providing a top-notch coffeehouse getaway, CW crafted and furnished the entire shop via creative hands and tasteful eyes; not a single detail has been overlooked in what’s easily become my go-to chill spot when I’m in the area. To wrap up, I’ll phrase CommonWealth as «Coffee with care.» The moment you walk in, you know you’re about to treat yourself to some freaking quality coffee. Sure, the Starbucks further up Broadway’s rather nifty itself; but CW’s where the love’s at. Come by and meet the crew — Jose, Danny, Vincent, Jefferson & Israel won’t let you down. Guaranteed.
