As much as I gushed over Gino’s East when it was in the Med Center, I haven’t been to another real pizzeria(sorry, but I’m not going to the one in Live Oak because that really irked me). Until Last night, when, after we had a Cecil Whittaker’s Pizzeria flyer on our door, wife wanted to try. So we did. Located in the small strip center with La Michoacana Market, CWP is a St. Louis-based pizzeria. A traditional pizzeria offering everything from pizzas to calzones and all manner of Italian pizzeria fare, CWP is your traditional pizzeria. Warmly greeted by Taylor and seated, the place was virtually empty. We ordered appetizers: fried mushrooms, cheese sticks and there was even fried zucchini(YAY!) to be had. Placed quickly, the apps came out in about five minutes, piping hot and YUMMY! Served with ranch and marinara, the wife was happy with her sampler, with shrooms, cheese stix and zucchini, was equally good. Now for the ‘za. ONLYTHINCRUST is served at CWP. If you like a thick, bready crust… nope. Not here. Go elsewhere. A paper thin crust and the cheese is DE-FREAKING-LICIOUS! A blend made only for Cecil’s, the cheese made the pizza! A nice, creamy texture and taste, but a bit salty. No problem. Wife said that it will replace her normal thin crust from the national chain with the red rooftop. Service was spot on with Taylor, and all of the staff were friendly. Even Mr. Joe, the proprietor/franchisee was kind enough to give me the story of going to STL for training and finding out about CWP. So, we are duly impressed, and encourage you to go outside the pizza box and give the new guys a go. YUM Cecil Whittaker’s Pizza!

The pizza and cheesy bread were not that great. But the toasted ravioli and cheese sticks were amazing!

Wow! Decided to try this place off of Culebra Rd. We wanted to try something different. This pizza is amazing. They use a different kind of cheese which is extremely creamy and light. If you don’t like the cheese they can use a Parmesan cheese. Extremely good service. Friendly waitresses and manager Joe. We will definitely have to come back for their desserts, but the family meal filled us up this time. Extremely reasonable prices. 5-Stars!

Truly a unique pizza dining experience. Provel cheese is so creamy and smooth. Great taste and presentation. The service was on point. $ 29 total with tax for 2 large 2 topping pizzas, family size house salad and garlic cheese bread. We devoured the pizza so no picture to share. Kind of a dicey strip mall but nice and clean inside.

I’m in town for a few days, and decided to try this restaurant. I got the spaghetti and meatballs; delicious. The red sauce is tangy, with a tiny bit of heat. Portions are very generous, and the prices are great. The staff was extremely friendly. Just what I needed to satisfy my pasta craving!!!

For starters everyone needs to understand that this is St Louis style pizza, which is ultra thin crust and provel cheese. If you are looking for traditional pizza then keep driving. Most people who did not grow up on stl pizza don’t get it. The sauce is sweet and tangy, not spicy. The cheese is gooey and turns orange on a pizza. It is not for everyone. Toasted ravs are a St. Louis thing and must be tried. This is one native who was in pizza heaven. The only thing I was missing was Cardinal baseball and a bud lite and I was home.

I’m a native St. Louisan so when I learned about Cecil Whittaker’s here in San Antonio, I immediately made dinner plans for that night. St. Louis style pizza is crispy thin crust and creamy provel cheese. I got(an XL!) half bacon and half sausage with an order of toasted ravioli and between my fiancé and I, we finished the whole order. If you like trying new pizza places, you’ve gotta try this one, the only St. Louis style pizza I’ve come across in San Antonio. I’m also a big believer that everyone needs to try toasted ravioli at least once in their life and CW is gonna do it better than anyone else in San Antonio.

What a great throwback to our days living in the St. Louis area. Pizza was perfect St. Louis style – thin crust with melty cheese. Wings were crispy and tasty. The toasted ravioli were delicious. Will definitely order again!

My husband and I went to CWP based on the reviews we read. The reviews gave 4 stars but to our disappointed the food was not good at all! We had the 14 inch combination pizza and we did not know you had to ask for Mozzarella Cheese on your pizza instead of Provolone? We have never been to a pizza place where they automatically put Provolone cheese on pizzas. We did read in one of the reviews that they put Provolone cheese on the pizza but we thought the customer had requested it. The waitress should have given us the option for what kind of cheese we wanted on our pizza. The crust was ridiculously thin. My husband said it was probably frozen pizza dough and it tasted like a big baked cracker. And believe me my husband knows his pizza, being from New York were he had many of thin crust pizzas. This pizza was bad! We also had fried mushrooms and a Greek salad. The salad was smothered with dressing and there was a chunk of ice in my salad??? Which I thought was strange… so I asked the waitress if the salad had been sitting in the fridge? She said no. Also the croutons were burned. The only thing that was half decent were the mushrooms… and the only reason we ate those was because we were in a hurry. Because my husband had to go to work. My last comment is that my husband and I like to support the small local area restaurants. But if the food isn’t good we will not go back. Sorry…

Wow is all I can say thin, crispy and delish, off the path a bit in the shopping center off of culebra next to michoacana meat market, again total awesome find and gem so give them a try if you are a pizza fiend and need a differnt affordable spot besides the pizza huts and other BS pizza joint conglomerates. l Support local and enjoy the food most importantly, because it’s good and really good.

I came in for a small pizza with all of the meats on it. I was pretty hungry but I needed to get home so I ordered it to go. I was in the area and I had read some pretty good reviews of this place. When I got home and took a bite of my pizza, I dicovered the Italian sausage was still raw in the middle. Not a «slightly pink» raw. It was so raw, I thought Hannibal Lecter was working in the back. Thank goodness for toaster ovens, I had had to re cook my pizza. As far as the flavor goes, this was a really good pizza and I’m willing to give them another try. Next time I will pass on the Trichinosis Roulette and check the food before I dig in.

We decided to check this place out on a whim. Couldn’t have made a better decision. We order mozzarella sticks, toasted ravioli and fried mushrooms for appetizers. The mozzarella sticks and ravioli were great choices. The mushrooms weren’t bad overall but could have used a little more seasoning in the coating and the temp was on the low side. For the meal were opted for the 2 topping pizza and 1 lb of bbq wings. The pizza was amazing! The crust was thin and crispy, but not over cooked. The toppings were generous and topped with Provel cheese. The cheese is what makes this pizza unique. It’s a soft, creamy and not greasy great tasting cheese. The pizza was sliced into squares which made it fun to eat. The wings were equally as delicious as the pizza. They were large and crispy with a enough sauce to require multiple napkins. The staff was super friendly. Our waitress was attentive and offered suggestions, as this was our first visit. The appetizers were brought out within an appropriate amount of time and our pizzas followed when the appetizers were finished. We are thankful to have such an outstanding establishment in our neighborhood. We can’t wait to come back to try the other menu options including the Cecil burger, which we heard was fantastic.

Definitely great pizza if you like your pizza thin and crispy. My friend and I started out with the cheese garlic bread followed by a large 14″ pizza. Note: They use provolone cheese on the pizza by default. If you prefer mozzarella cheese, you will have to tell them at the time of the order.
