Canticle Hot Glass Studio

Canticle Glass Studio Studio is a neat little shop located within the wall of Mission Espada. The studio in staffed and all of the beautiful art is handmade by Brother Jim Hickey O.F.M., a resident parish monk. It is always a pleasure to talk with Brother Jim and look at the beautiful art he creates.
Being a local we have found this shop a great place for Christmas presents and house warming presents. Everyone we have given one to absolutely loves the beautiful glass crosses. We have gotten some for our own walls as well.
The crosses come in different sizes with price points that are friendly to any budget. Also for sale is jewelry, bowls and lights.
The hours are Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 5.

We were wandering the grounds of Mission Espada, paying notice to the fact that part of the mission was still occupied and marked private. As we neared the chapel (still in operation by the way) we saw a sign for Canticle Hot Glass Studio. This we had to check out.
Inside we met Brother Jim, the artist behind the objects for sale. We saw many beautiful items (both large and small), and selected one as a keepsake for this trip (we recently started collecting glass as mementos, so this worked out perfectly).
If you are visiting the mission on the weekend, be sure to see if the shop is open (12PM — 5PM). It is a great source of unique, one of a kind, gifts.
BTW, all the glass is of the «fused glass» variety.
