It’s not romantic, it’s not fancy, it’s not a culinary delight. It is however, one of the best dive bars in San Antonio and that is what my rating is based on! I’ve lived in SA all of my life and I am embarrassed to say my first time there was last night. It’s a groovy little place with live music or DJs in several places. The main downstairs area accommodates maybe 100 people with plenty of table space for parties — which we attended last night. There is a decent sized dance floor from which to get your groove on. Meander outside through the back doors and you will find a nice little brick and stone patio with another bar and either a band or a DJ spinning tunes. They gave an upstairs room(that I didn’t get to see) and one or two other rooms that had private parties inside. We ate before we got there, so I’m really not sure what they had to offer. It appeared that our party was catered though — not sure if it was by The Cadillac Bar or someone else though. We got there after 9pm and domestic beer was only $ 3. Not a bad evening at all and I would go back — for the bar experience!

You want to eat some mexican food during the week downtown stop by this place. If you want to grab drinks during happy hour or weekends, this is the place. Usually it is Tejano music from a live band but there are other events such as Rock Explosion. This is a historic site and the patio marks the first city light. This venue also boasts several banquet rooms for weddings. I live the Cadillac Bar!!!

Dude after party… nuff said. Wow we close this place down after a night of Aztec theater action. This place is an old standby and a reliable one at that for some cold beer or call drinks and some good tejano music!

Since I work down the road my coworkers and I decided to give this place a try when we heard about their $ 5.50 lunch specials. As soon as we got there the waitress told us that they weren’t serving the full menu and all they had was hamburger, enchiladas or flautas. We ordered the enchiladas and an order of flautas Which came with unlimited soup and salad. The salad bar didn’t have any toppings except cheese and the soup was basically broth. When the food came it was warm but not hot. The«flautas» were literally delmex taquitos you get in the frozen section at HEB. The food was so so but I guess we got what we paid for, it’s a shame though because it’s a great location and has the potential to be a good lunch spot but the effort is clearly not there.

Great live music, great location… terrible service. I ordered nachos, they were EIGHT dollars, and the cheese was so coagulated, it was like melted plastic. I’ve gotten better nachos at a truck stop. Come here to be entertained… but eat elsewhere.

How does a restaurant«run out» of avocado slices for their chicken fajita salad when it just opened for lunch? Salad was plain, chicken fajita chunks very dry, not juicy at all. When I asked about the avocado slices the waitress told me after the fact that they were out. I might have ordered something else. Bad service. No refill on my water. Not impressed.

Had to make a return trip to the Cadillac Bar! Stopped in here a few years ago and made a friend. Time for déjà vu. Walking distance from our hotel, a good thing, they make some strong drinks here. Very safe area for walking. Police station is just on the next block. A dive bar with tons of character and friendly people. There happened to be a benefit the night we were meeting, so they had three bands playing. It was loud and fun!

Good live music on Fridays, excellent service reasonably priced drinks and beer Lovely patio — ESPECIALLYNOW during spring weather. Love the place. But the bathrooms could be inspected more often to KEEP them clean. Ram

Their happy hour is from 5 – 9 and the prices are great. Only draw back is no bar food peanuts, chips or other salty items. The service is great the bar tender was very attentive and the drinks weren’t your typical diluted happy hour faire… They free pour and you know it! I’d probably return if they added the munchies to their offerings. Not asking for cooked food just something to stuff in your mouth in between sips of jack and coke

Bad. Really bad. Really, really bad. At least for lunch. When you walk in to this cavernous dark dank place, you’re hit with the overpowering odor of ammonia, or fabulosa, or something like that. The chemicals attach inside your sinuses to disguise all other smells for the duration of your visit. They say that taste is really 50% smell, and my ammonia enchiladas were no exception. The furniture is old used up wobbly convention tables and chairs, likely from the 1970s. The«salad bar» has tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, and tortilla chips. The Spanish rice is mushy, and the beans were probably from a can. Their dinner menu seems overpriced for poor quality tex-mex. Big bar, outdoor seating, and huge space inside show promise for a night out drinking with live music.

So I was here for a Office Christmas party in which we rented out the area and they had tables set up for us. We had a taco buffet, the food was pretty good; but I was upset they didn’t have soft tortillas and only the crunchy ones. The staff was pretty decent and the drinks were cheap. After our Christmas party a few of us stayed to close down the bar. They had a DJ, though I honestly wouldn’t call him that cause all he did was download music off his phone and play it through the system. It was a lot of Hispanic music and country, mostly Hispanic though so I really had no idea what was going on. The country music they played was depressing and sad and«classic». Think old 90s stuff, nothing upbeat or «popular» like Luke Bryan or anything. My friend asked for some Kenny Chesney and I swear they played the most depressing song he ever made. They had a nice outdoor patio area, which was a major plus. And for a Saturday night it never got too busy that I couldn’t go up to the bar and get a drink right away. The crowd was a mix of old and new, with the older people leaving mostly after the basketball game was done. There wasn’t really a lot of people who danced either; so if you are looking for a place to dance, I’d go elsewhere. Overall, it was a decent place to hang out and have a drink. There’s parking across the street(city deck) and two lots behind and beside it. It also has it’s own parking but by the time I got there it was full.

First time and was attending a birthday gathering. First walked in and the music was so loud couldn’t properly introduce myself to the party goers… was the +1 so didn’t know anyone. The food was ok nothing that was any different then what I could get at HEB and warm up. Since the music was so loud ordering drinks required hand signals and don’t try to order anything other then beer… or good luck yelling it across the bar.

Dropped in to the bar after walking around downtown. They’ve got some seriously cool décor in there(mostly showcasing the Jack Daniels name) that I actually wouldn’t mind donning in my house! There was supposed to be a band playing that night but oddly the band didn’t show lol! A little disappointing because I was in the mood for some live music but the jukebox worked just fine. The variety of music was incredibly odd — but it was totally awesome too. I heard country, 50’s music, Latino and an assortment of other genres back-to-back which was a lot of fun. I saw people eating everything from store bought chips to delivered pizza… It’s pretty neat that you can just go have a few beers and bring in food. Cadillac seems like a really chill place where you can dance to 50’s music or just hang back with a cold one without fear of judgement. Would definitely go back!

«I miss you. I think we should have dinner together», that’s all the text said. It wasn’t exactly what I wanted to see, first thing in the morning. I had spent the last six months forgetting everything about her. Even down to her telephone number. It took me a few minutes to even realize who was on the other side of this texts. Who misses me? What kind of person misses me? There are two kinds of people I don’t talk to anymore. Either they have moved away, or grown to hate me. So, excuse me if I’m a little jaded when people say the’ve missed me. Lucky for me, and in my opinion her, I was leaving town. I try to do this often. I’ve grown weary of my city. It is a shadow of its former self, just like the woman that sent me that text. I was aiming to get lost, and I have found that San Antonio is generally the perfect place to become anonymous. It was a Saturday night, and I knew in the back of my head that all my friend’s were playing«cool» in Austin. Yet, I walked into the antithesis of Austin, with my head full of sights and smells from this sleepy city. Cadillac Bar could not have been any more perfect. I slipped in the doors during the middle of a huge graduation party. The music was blaring, people were dancing, cowboy hats were tipped, and I felt right at home. The bar was packed, but when I stepped up service was quick and friendly. Jack and Coke in a man sized glass. Not an Austin hipster glass. Cake was offered, cupcakes were offered, and finally an old lady offered me a dance. The hours I was there felt like an eternity. The sound of music was interrupted occasionally by the loud cowbell that rings for large tips. The crowd goes wild when the bartenders are tipped graciously, and they deserve it. Anytime ghosts from the past haunt me, I will do my damnest to make it to that long wooden bar, and I will let them be scared away with the sound of that large metal bell.

Beer was cold… And though I got there after they stopped serving lunch, they called in a cheeseburger from a good delivery place. Excellent!

Bar I was looking for a place that was close enough for me to walk over but not directly on the Riverwalk and after some Unilocaling I see that the Cadillac bar gets decent reviews and is a short walk over from my hotel — so I grab my jacket and head on over. Located in an old building and apparently they had won a mention in the Guinness book of records for largest margarita ever made, i knew it was going to be a fun place. I settled in at the large wood bar and figured when in Rome, I’ll do what the Roman’s do… except most of the occupants were drinking beer — so I went with a margarita. The bartender was great and that margarita was perfectly made and hit the spot completely. They do not seem to serve food– or more correctly nothing of note — I saw them bring out some chips and salsa but if you wanted food, they will actually order something for you from down the street — and that place delivers. Odd — but it works. People were of all walks: lawyers, convicts and locals — everyone was having a cocktail and unwinding after work — and with really good tunes cranking, it is a great place to chill. Bathrooms were clean enough and prices were cheap– so get yourself in there. Small parking lot on the side.

Went over to the Cadillac Bar after getting married by the Justice of the Peace accross the street. I had known about this place for a while but had never been before. The restaurant has been around for about 35 years now but the building it is housed in is much older, 210 years to be exact! When you walk in you get that old Texas feel. It has one of those grand old bars in the front of it that takes up the whole wall. It was begging for me to belly-up to it but now we were more in the mood for eating. They had some really good lunch specials $ 5.50 got me a delicious order of cheese enchiladas made with red corn tortillas(quintessential San Antonio) they were sevred with a tasty order of rice and beans. That also came with serve yourself salad and tortilla soup. My lovely bride had the chicken-fried steak speacial for the same price, and it was a good one, not the best ever but definitely good enough to be a good deal. Since it was an old Texas building in an old Texas bar I felt compelled to order a Lone Star beer, I haven’t had one of those since my college days at Texas A&M, and it tasted about the same. The service was very freindly and attentive, plus they let us know that on Friday nights there was live music. i’ll definitely be back, especially when I have out-of-town guestscome to stay.

A haunted bar?! You don’t say… Danny C was the first to tell me about the ghosts of Cadillac Bar. But, others have whispered rumors as well. So, I went. The building is really cool and around 150 years old. Since I didn’t actually see a ghost myself, I’ll just have to take others word on it and wish you the best of luck should you be hunting one yourself. I did however have a great night here. You can rent this venue for a party but be warned that if you don’t rent the entire space there may be several parties This San Antonio institution has earned its spot in our city. The drinks are great, atmosphere is all party all the time, and service is fantastic.
