The way they fixed the diver sea scallop with foie gras was the best! Had the freshwater ruby trout as the main entrée and a drink called«rhythm and beet». Delicious! My son had the bouillabaisse lobster spaghetti. All fixed delicately with superb taste!

Truly wanted to love this place from all the raves and reviews. My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try on a Saturday afternoon. The gentleman at the front entrance politely told us that there was only one table left unreserved and we would get to seat immediately before the rush came in. As we sat, we were introduced to wines and dishes off the menu and we then ordered our cocktails, that were delicious by the way. My boyfriend ordered an off the menu vegetarian pasta dish and I ordered the lobster spaghetti. Knowing my boyfriend like the back of my palm, has always finished his plates(practically licks plates clean). To my surprise, his plate was half eaten. He then states that it was way too salty. As was mine but I haven’t eaten since 10am that morning and my hangrism(hungry&angry) was already set in so I devoured my plate entirely. Later that evening, possible an hour or two after dinner, I felt the food come back up in tiny increments. Shortly after being reintroduced to the salty seafood taste in my mouth, my body forced every single bit of the lobster spaghetti out. I threw up. Twice. Which also ruined our whole Saturday night. So in conclusion I would like to state that I got mild food poisoning from our meal.

I’m not going to delve into the food at all, but focus on the horrible service. Food and service are paired, and if its great, it can elevate the other aspect. When one issue is horrendous, it detracts from everything else. And it’s a shame, because the food was pretty good and the décor is pretty. Our waiter was terrible. I hesitate to use his name(which we got from the manager), but he never introduced himself to our table, so I doubt he’ll introduce himself to you. Some issues, may be related to how service is run by staff — 15 minute wait for waters, 30 minute wait for drink orders(not a packed house) — but other issues were definitely personal. When asked for favorites on the menu, his advice was terse«Everything is good.» When we offered to provide our food order with our drink order(because it was such a long wait) — he cut us off, and only took the drink order and walked away. Nary a smile or courtesy was offered the whole night. He was clearly annoyed of our requests to split plates. And yet, we saw that he was affable and engaging with other tables. So maybe our table pissed him off somehow. I’m leery of doing a 1 star review, as I don’t think I’ve left one before. The other tables he waited on, were probably happy, and we seem to be outliers. But we were all so pissed at our treatment, even after giving some time before writing this review, we’re still angry at the service.

Here is the thing I wavered on my «star status.» Not because I couldn’t decide if they deserved better but rather, I was confused by the overwhelming amount of «5 star» and«Hell YA!» reviews. I went in with good expectations and I have had nothing but great experiences form the sister bar, Francis Bogside Tavern. However, it was a «3 star, Meh» for me. Price: Contrary to the lies on Unilocal, this restaurant is defiantly $$$ not a $$. This is funny to me because the Rivard Report describes this place as, «modern cuisine with old tavern culture» HA yea OK if, old tavern culture includes a $ 16 appetizers. I don’t see John Wayne dropping that amount of coin. Food: We had a crab salad with homemade ranch on a bed of lettuce, topped off with truffle oil. The shredded lettuce was soggy and the truffle oil was hardly noticed. I ordered duck and my friend ordered the Chilean wagyu ribeye. The Plates were gorgeous, but looks are not everything(thanks mom). My food and my friends food came out COLD. Also, the wagu beef was downing in chimichurri sauce, too oily. Dessert was a chocolate cake with peanut butter moose; it was tasty but nothing to write home about. All in all, I had a great time with great company but I was simply not dazzled. I will give it another chance, but I will probably do brunch! This place has good bones, I have faith they will work out their first year growing pains.

Came here after searching for a good brunch spot while working OOT. I ordered the Barbados tacos and a Peach Bellini. The tacos were great! I love the fact that they allow you to salt the food yourself as I don’t like my food too salty. The reviews were very helpful as the food was delish! It’s a quaint little spot I almost walked right by so keep your eyes open for the sign but the atmosphere is great with a friendly staff to match.

Brunch Heaven! I had the arugula salad with pork belly and a passion fruit mimosa. It was fantastic. The pork belly was perfectly crisped on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The prices aren’t so bad either. The average brunch entrée will cost you on average 11 $. The drinks are where they get you though. On average the cocktails run about $ 10 each. But I’m sure they are all very delicious. I have also had the pleasure of dining during dinner time. The prices increase fairly dramatically for dinner so know that going in. I ordered the tomahawk steak dinner for two. It came with very generous portions of fresh veggies from the farmers market such as beets, green beans, potatoes and mushrooms. If I heard the waiter correctly the vegetables change day to day. The steak was a hugeeeee t bone steak that looked like a tomahawk. It could have fed three or four people. Before they set it on the table they came out with a small brown box full of steak knives. We ordered it cooked medium but it definitely came out medium rare which made it very hard to cut, even with their fancy knives. It tasted good either way. The one thing I didn’t like was that the steak had an extremely high fat content. Half of the steak was basically fat. Maybe that’s normal I’m not sure I don’t eat steak often. The meal ended up being around 160 $ after appetizer and meal(no drinks). The quality of service definitely makes it worth it. I would recommend a reservation as this space is smaller than most. Highly recommend

Fantastic food and wonderful service! I went with a group of four and we first ordered the grilled oysters and scallop appetizer along with a bottle of wine. the oysters were seasoned deliciously! We had assumed there would be 3 or so scallops served, however there was just one. it was delicious but not what was anticipated. I ordered the trout with corn succotash and dirty rice which was extremely flavorful. The rest of the party ordered the grilled sea bass with black beans, the seafood spaghetti and the ribeye –everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dish! After finishing our bottle of wine, we decided dessert was in order so each had the deconstructed strawberry shortcake. out. standing. The cake stood alone with fresh cream and strawberries, drizzled with a bit of balsamic vinegar and pistachios scattered about with a scoop of strawberry sorbet. We were so so glad we had chosen to go with dessert! It was a cute, cozy space and not overly crowded or loud. I would hands down recommend to anyone in the San Antonio area!

RECOMMEND: Freshwater Ruby Trout(hard to make a recommendation since their menu changes often, but probably mostly everything here is good!) ATMOSPHERE/SERVICE: This is a cute restaurant with a chill, but intimate ambiance. What stood out to me was the absolutely, amazing service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and very accommodating to anything we needed — even with substitutions on dishes. It was quite evident through his voice how much he enjoyed his job and how much passion the restaurant puts into their food. I absolutely love this kind of service at restaurants — it really colors how much love they have for creating the tastiest and most beautiful dishes. FOOD: –BREAD: Not going to lie, I initially judge a restaurant hard by the bread that is put out in front of me. Our waiter joked that they got an award for Best Crusty Bread before, and I after biting it, I can definitely see why! The bread is incredibly airy, light, crispy and goes extremely well with the butter. It is one of the best crusty bread I’ve ever had. –FRESHWATERRUBYTROUT($ 20): This dish came with corn succotash and emulsion with dirty brown rice. And wow, it was a delicious dish! The trout came with a wonderful, crispy layer and tender, flavorful meat — each bite was great with a little bit of the corn succotash — the corn was juicy with a nice bit and really one of my favorite aspects of the dish. The dirty brown rice was another wonderful surprise on the side; the spices are very reminiscent of cajun rice and brought spice to the entire dish. Also, the portion was actually quite a bit compared to what I’ve seen in the past with their other dishes. It was an excellent entrée! –DECONSTRUCTEDSTRAWBERRYCAKE: My friends are the absolute sweetest and told our server that it was my birthday. Usually restaurants come out with a piece of unimpressive cake that could’ve been sitting for who knows how long, but Brigid really brought it’s game on with this dessert. The presentation was absolutely beautiful with a scattered pistachios on the side of the dish and a decadent combination of fresh cream and strawberries on top of a crunchy pistachio shell cup. A simple dessert idea turned into something gorgeous. PRICE: So Brigid is on the pricier side of restaurants, but this is a great place to take someone for a special occasion and considering the quality of food we received, I think the price is worth it if you’re including the service/ambiance. PARKING: No parking lot. You’ll have to find street parking! NEXTTIME: I really wanna come try their brunch!

What an outstanding meal! Can’t imagine a better place in San Antonio thAt offers great food, great drinks & fantastic service. French inspired wine list, crafty cocktails and amazing ingredients for your meal. Hidden away and not far from the river walk. Strongly recommended.

This place is ridiculous. we drove half an hr in the torrential downpour to get here for brunch. When we showed up, the place was practically empty and the only table the hostess could offer us was right in front of the hostess stand, next to the coat rack. Hello, there are only 4 other patrons at the restaurant, at least 20 empty tables, and the only one that available is right where everyone is walking by?

The wife and I tried Brigit a couple of months ago, right around the time it opened. We were so glad that a new restaurant opened in Southtown, seeing as we love going over there. We came on a Friday for dinner after making some reservations. The food turned out to be pretty good, I had the pasta which was mixed with some sort of smoked pork belly, it was quite nice. My wife enjoyed the steak and it was cooked perfectly. Service was a little on the slow side, but overall this is a great addition to the Southtown area.

At last, fresh pasta comes to San Antonio! Three cheers to Brigid for bringing quality european fare to downtown in a warm, relaxed setting. The pasta is deliciously house made and especially good with the braised ribs. My bouillabaise lobster dish had all the right flavors and came chocked-full of huge fresh scallops, langoustines, a lobster tail, and mussles all in a heavenly red sauce and garnished with fennel. The only thing that could have made my experience better would have been a seaside view. Given this stellar experience, I’d be a fool not to go back to try the Brunch menu some weekend.

Absolutely amazing! Scared I won’t be able to get a reservation next time I’m in town if everyone finds out how great it is… I ordered braised short rib pappardelle and my boyfriend got the steak. We split each half and half because we couldn’t decide which was better! Great cocktail menu, lots of gin choices in particular. Will be back ASAP. Remember to respect the neighbors and follow parking rules!

Brigid is super nice inside! I love the lighting and the way it’s designed. I was super impressed with the food, especially the scallops. I honestly have not had better scallops anywhere else. The plating is excellent and the food looks so nice you don’t want to eat it. I was crazy about everything I ate there. The butternut soup I had so much flavor and had a perfect consistency. For dessert I ordered the panna cotta and it was to die for. The servings are pretty small. I was still kind of hungry afterwards when I left so maybe consider picking up a snack afterwards, lol. I really liked the food so I would definitely go back.

I realize that many places offer a different experience depending on whether lunch/dinner/brunch is being served, and while we’ve continued to be impressed with dinner here, we had never been at any other time until today. Sunday brunch was absolutely amazing. In addition to the selections appearing on their website, they had an off-menu duck/crepes selection that was superb. Even with a full house(might suggest reservations for brunch primetime) the noise level allowed for easy conversation, service continues to be exemplary as well.

I had a great meal at Brigid! I took my mom here for her birthday– Brigid is totally a ‘celebration’ spot. They have a nice wine list– service was great! To start, we had the veal cheek appetizer– the beef was tender and fell apart and was nice with the cheese grits. Mom and I both ordered steak; but different dishes. Her cut was the New York Strip; I got the filet. The cut on my mom’s steak was a little too fatty. The truffled potatoes were SO delicious though(let’s be real– I love truffled ANYTHING). The Bordeaux sauce with my filet was tasty and added really nice flavor. I mentioned it was my mom’s birthday and they gave us complimentary strawberry dessert which was really yummy! I can’t wait to try Brigid for brunch, which is on Saturdays AND Sundays :)

We went to Brigid the other night. It was pretty good, but not exceptional. We split the scallop ceviche to start, which was very pretty, but also very salty. My wife had the filet and I had the pork shank on red beans and rice. I’m not sure I’ve ever had pork shank before; but it was decent but wasn’t «fall off the bone» as described. I was probably envisioning pork shoulder. The red beans and rice were well seasoned, but not very spicy. My wife’s filet was very good, rare to her specification, and tender. They have a full bar and own the bar next door(though we never popped in). Our service was decent, but some other tables stood and lingered, almost to the point of hovering over our table; a turnoff, but not really the restaurant’s fault. It was a decent experience, but not a game changer by any means. I’ll be making the rounds before considering another visit here.

Chef Chris Carlson is just a genius with food. He is consistently Outstanding, laser-focused on quality, observant of customer satisfaction, and generally an all-around brilliant kitchen tactician. His new restaurant highlights that in a very Chris Carlson surrounding. The menu offers a focused few seasonal, freshly prepared choices for each course. From starters to salads to entrees to desserts, one can imagine the amount of thought and planning that went into each offering. Also, having paired with the team from Blue Box, he not only offers a great wine selection, but also Olaf in situ, giving seemingly the same attention to detail to the cocktails as Chef Carlson does the food. Ahhhhhh, but Emily, when will you get to the business of actually talking about specific food? Now, dear reader! I went on opening night and was glad to see some familiar faces from chef’s last restaurant. I was promptly seated and waited upon attentively by all the staff. Actually, I’ve been twice now and the same was true both times. On my dinner visit, I had four courses: sous vide pork belly, melon salad, red snapper, and panna cotta. Chef Carlson also sent out a sample of the cavatelli and Chef Justin sent sorbetos. Just as expected, the plating was beautiful, every texture was considered, and flavors were arranged artfully. For example, the melon salad had some bits fresh, some pickled, some with salt, some with a hint of chili. The red snapper(really, who cooks fish better?) was crisp and moist and tender all at once. The brunch was equally divine. Chef Justin was at the helm and it was equally wonderful. There were freshly baked breads and muffins as well. I had classic steak and egg and potatoes. The aroma alone was enough to satisfy(almost!) Chef sent a beautiful sample of bagel and lox, which was perfectly cured and lighter than usual. I have to say that I’m so glad that this restaurant has come to fruition. It’s long overdue and very welcome!

Unbelievable! Absolutely a must go. Brand new restaurant in San Antonio. Opened yesterday– the prodigy/ever-so-talented Chef(s) who left the Sandbar Restaurant to start their very first venture, Brigid. Quite the unforgettable experience. Could be the best restaurant in town. Dined for dinner last night(opening night) and then back again today for lunch bc so impressive. Will be coming back at least once again this week to try every dish on the menu. Atmosphere is warm and inviting and intimate. Fantastic staff from servers to management to kitchen. Did not wait, food out/served at perfect pace. Great place for after work, a date or friends. Brunch menu seems killer– must return for this. Open 7 days a week!!! Say whaaaaaaat? Way more compliments to give about this place, but it’s 11:11pm on weeknight– need sleepy. Caveat: no sign on door, but look out for the heavy cast iron cut-out door… Note to self: must go visit the cool looking bar next door– also brand new– interesting looking people next door.
