Boardwalk at Med Center

Solid place to live next to UTHSCSA. Safety was a big priority for me when choosing a place to live in medical center and I always felt safe living at Boardwalk. For a more luxury apartment feel, I felt the prices were more affordable than some of the places that my classmates were living in especially if you split the price of a 2 bed, 2 bath here. I think the office has new people now, but when I lived here the office staff was always very helpful and friendly. Rent can be paid online which was really convenient. In addition, maintenance orders can be done online. There was a small beehive that maintenance promptly removed on our patio and they also were able to pretty quickly fix a minor issue with our stove top.
The amenities here are also pretty solid. Although I never used the pool, I thought it was on the nicer side. There is a nice patio area with tables a shade to hang out at by the pool and grills to bbq. I also liked the cozy fire pit outside. My fiancé and I would come and sit and relax outside by it every once in a while. The small gym here has the basics, but the cardio machines are pretty subpar. The biggest con here was the parking. You don’t get an assigned spot and if you come back late at night, you’ll get a spot but it might not be the closest to your apartment. That means you have to walk a bit with your heavy groceries or whatever you are carrying. They have spots and garages that you have to pay extra for, so that takes away from the regular spots. I’ve heard people complain every now and then about people not picking up dog poop around the complex, but I’ve never had any big problems with the issue or noticed it.
As for the actual apartments, they are on the newer side. They look modern and have more of a luxury apartment feel. I really liked our kitchen here. The kitchen has all granite countertops and new appliances including a microwave that is integrated over the countertop. Kitchen storage was pretty plentiful. The pots and pans rack that hangs from the ceiling is also nice feature. The living room and kitchen has nice dark faux type of wood that seems pretty good quality and looks really nice. Both bathrooms are nice and spacious in the apartment, which I also liked. The washer and dryer comes with the apartment and nicely located in a separate closet which is a plus.
As for the location, I like how Boardwalk is close to medical center, but not in the center of it. I think it’s a big reason that it seems like a more safe and secure complex. I have classmates who’ve told me they’ve had homeless people sleep on their doorstep on some of the apartments right off Babcock and classmates who complain about car and apartment break-​ins at their newer complexes closer to med center. One classmate said they had a problem with people dressing up as maintenance or something and trying to get into apartments. Soo scary! The quieter location is definitely a big plus!
Overall, I definitely recommend this complex for anyone looking for an affordable, modern feel, safe apartment near med center!

Since my review last year, Boardwalk has failed to address the noise issue in any manner. They have also failed to address the dog poop issue, and have now «lost» multiple maintenance requests. The automatic payment failed, a technical issue (not our fault) and the office got belligerent and rude, saying we should have been «more responsible about payment.» Office staff since Salaie has left has been lack luster to downright petty and rude. While attempting to file a complaint, the office manager actually told us to leave her office because she «didn’t like our tone.» Excuse me? It’s a complaint, what kind of tone do you expect me to have? As such we are moving fairly promptly and given the changes to management I can’t recommend this location to anyone.

I did not have a chance to visit the property prior to moving here (moving in from out of state). The apartment was immaculate and even better in person than the photos I saw online — No magic trick filters or angles.
As of now, this property gets 5*. I’ll do a follow up review in a few months.

If you are looking for quality, security, and convenience in your future home, live here! From the beginning, the management has been exceptional. Salaie, my leasing agent, has been consistently helpful and reliable. I have never had a bad experience with the management here.
The rooms have a modern feel to it. All of them come with a cool hanging rack for your pans that make you look more hipster than you actually are.
The outdoor fireplace by the pool is my favorite part about boardwalk. It’s on a self timer that you push to start. So easy and makes having poolside s’mores a dream come true!

It’s a really chill clean place, I mean sometimes there is the occasional pet poop but the pool is nice and the gym has the bare essentials. The apartments are nice and spacious eith typical neighbor problems but comes with the territory. It’s located right down the street from an H.E.B which is convient and a Shell. It’s also with riding distance to Leon Springs park which is connected to O. P Schnabel Park which is awesome.

I have lived in these apartments since August of 2014. Being a new apartment renter, I have had a pleasant experience here at The Boardwalk. Of course, an apartment is not like a house, and you do have the occasional «noisy, inconsiderate neighbors». Or the pet owners who do not pick up their fur child’s droppings.
Otherwise, this property is clean, well maintained, and overall a great place to call home. The apartments are SPACIOUS with tall ceilings, and black modern appliances. Best of all, a washer and dryer IS included! Definitely a plus!
The gym is a little tiny, but they try to include standard equipment. The pool is clean and relaxing, only I wish it had a little more pizazz.
There is always a parking spot available and it rarely gets crowded.
All in all, I highly recommend these apartments!
