Just like I remembered. Great shrimp gumbo, you have to try the Fish&Shrimp Mxican style. Delicious!!!

This place never disappoints. The girls at the register are really nice & management is top notch. Lately I’ve been trying to watch my carbs so I asked for the oyster poboy without the bun and substituted the fries for more lettuce. They were super accommodating without a shred of hesitation. I truly enjoyed my lettuce wrapped oysters. This place rocks! Signed a big fan;)

For a fast food seafood restaurant the quality is good. The only thing I did not like was that there was too much onion in the Cole slaw.

One car in the drive thru ahead of me. One. How long should it take to get my order? 2 min? 5 min? 10 min? Did I mention I’m in the drive thru and there’s only one more customer ahead of me? I also ordered a sandwich. Nothing odd, just a sandwich off their specials menu. Well, it took 15 minutes. For those that aren’t aware, drive thru minutes are like dog years. So, in drive thru time, that’s an hour and forty-five minutes!!! ;) They’ve also jacked up tea prices and no longer offer them with their lunch specials. That’s just wrong!

There’s a reason why this joint hasn’t replaced Long John Silver’s as the go to place for fast food trashy seafood. The Mac n cheese tastes worse than the kind you can but at a gas station on your way to Juarez. The breading on the fried fish is awful and the fish tastes like it was caught last year. The fries were good. And to add to that, bill miller’s finally got their head out of their a$$ and realized that their tea is not that great and that at least at these stores, they don’t charge for refills. I’ll drink to that!

My niece opted for this place for her birthday dinner. We roll in and I ordered fried shrimp plates. I do not like cole slaw, so I opted for green beans. When I ordered drinks for everyone, the young girl behind the counter screwed that up. We asked for tea and she gave us root beer. When we tried to correct her, she did offer to give us a drink free because she was going to just throw it out. The food came to us fairly quickly. I ask to ask for tarter sauce and cocktail sauce. You would think it would be out in the dinning room. I did notice they gave me cole slaw. I had mentioned to my father that they screwed it up, the cashier who already had a big line came and snatched my ticket up and looked to see if she had screwed up or it was the kitchen, which was rude. The food was hot; but, the shrimp were«tiny». The 8 piece shrimp was more of a snack than a meal. My kids were asking if we were going to get something else afterwards. The green beans were smothered in tomato sauce. You would have thought the portions could have be a tad bit larger. The have the drink machine on the register side. If you are going offer free refills, they should have it out in the dinning room. I might have given them more stars if the service was a little better. I do not see what all the hype is about this place. It is just another seafood place.

Went this past Friday to finally give this a try — we also remember the old Barnacle Bills at this location years ago at 281⁄1604 and loved it — it was a busy Friday night of course due to Lent season so I called in my order and was told it would be ready by the time I went to pick it up — waited 25 mins inside the store, while other people who were in line after me and paid after me had their to go order before I did — I observed the plates that were being presented for the dining area and it looked tasty! I ordered family 8 piece fried cod, with one extra piece to be sure we all had enough — Our fish was soggy and fell apart as we took each piece out of the box — not a good start — My daughter ate half and didn’t want more, she said she didn’t like it — my son ate one piece and then started eating his fries so he could get the taste out of his mouth, since he said he didn’t like the after taste — I ate 2 pieces and felt it was a bit more“fishy” than it should be — I drowned mine in tarter sauce(tasty) and lemon juice — My oldest daughter also ate one piece but only said it tasted different(she loves, as we all do, LJS) — after about 30 mins my son said he felt nauseous — and about an hour or so, my body had to just let mine out — My wife got home and saw what happened and just went for Whataburger instead — Next morning I called to let them know of our experience — we still had 4 pieces left that no one was going to eat — manager said they would not refund money but would comp us the equal amount toward food if we came back(I asked him what they could do for me, didn’t ask for refund — i thought his response was appropriate and didnt want to be a jerk online demanding $ back) I told him I would swing by and take the fish back so he knew we were not BS-ing him and he was fine with that, and also said he could just put us on a comp list if we didnt make it in that same day — we never made it back as we had my son’s soccer game and then headed to Strawberry fest — upon getting home, my daughter and friends had eaten all but one piece — I asked them if they were ok with it and they said the food was ok, but also had put it in the broiler to heat up/cook some more before eating Well what do you know, I dove in and did the same with the last piece — made a fish sandwich and it went down way better and also didn’t taste overly fishy as the night before. No more bad after taste and no puking this time. Our issue seems to have been fish not being fully cooked. I will just call it a bad batch on a busy night, I understand that can happen, just happen to be ours! I mentioned to the manager, that we may have just gotten a bad batch, maybe undercooked? but he didnt think that could be the case — he stated they served over 1,000 people that night and not another complaint, although, I had called about 10am the next morning — maybe he had some after. I am not a picky person and I eat plenty! :) I would not have thrown it, or any food, up very easily or without reason — I can handle it but I did feel bad for my son and his nauseousness. Since the fish ended up being all eaten, I saw no reason to take them up on the Comp meals. All in all, the pieces were a good size, Fries were good just as Bill Millers and the bread slices and tarter sauce were very good too. We may give it a second chance, but if I am on another side of town and can hit up J Anthonys, Sea Island or Rudys — we would go there instead for dine in eating.

I love their tartar sauce. Great fish sandwiches. And all of the side are the same Bill Miller’s sides, so if you like those, you’re happy. Steak fries, cole slaw, those green beans(my God). Solid gumbo, too. No, really.

For a fast-food seafood joint(especially one owned by Bill Miller’s) I have to give mad props to Laguna Madre. I remember telling my other half a few years ago how I missed Barnacle Bill’s. Some of you may remember that place. When compared with Laguna Madre though, this place blows Barnacle Bill’s way out of the water! I don’t mind waiting for 5 or more minutes for fresh, crispy, flaky, tasty, piping hot fried fish with freshly-made coleslaw, hush puppies that would make any Long John’s lover jealous, and of course BM’s signature steak fries. I’ve come to learn that you don’t have to be a practicing Catholic to enjoy a good fish basket. Hell, you don’t even have to be Catholic! But all joking aside, with lent season officially underway, it’s just another one of many great reasons(or excuses) to order you some Laguna Madre right this instant! They officially opened up their newest location today at 281 and 1604, which is a lot closer to me than this Rigsby location that I always frequent. Also, for a limited time you can sample the same exact fried fish served at Laguna Madre, but at Bill Miller’s every Friday during lent. I swear I don’t work for these people! Might I also add, their shrimp gumbo is better than some of the measly cups of watery gumbo I’ve tried at places that bill themselves as Creole/Cajun specialists. I know, GASP! It’s just that freaking good y’all. I will admit that the fried oysters and fried shrimp are just average when it comes to taste and texture, definitely nothing to write home about. When it comes to fish, for me, it can’t look the way it did when it was gallivanting in the ocean. It has to be golden brown, flaky, and delicious, and Laguna Madre does it right. The fried fish at other seafood places tends to be too greasy or too bland for my taste buds. I just might try their grilled cod next time I pay them a visit. I’m already planning my next trip back to the Laguna Madre Seafood Company, you should be too! :)

There is no way I could cook like this at home. Normally I order the fried fish and shrimp but today I ordered grilled. Wow! I’m so glad I did! The grilled fish and shrimp had so much flavor, the rice and corn was fresh and tasty to. The bread was fresh and buttered perfect. I know I’ll be returning soon. 5 star all the way!!!

I come here because it’s usually on a night where seafood sounds good but I don’t feel like going to sit-down, tip your server establishment and Long John Silvers is too greasy. It’s worth the price for fish & shrimp combo. I usually get the shrimp and oysters, because I love oysters. The breading is ok, I prefer panko style but this will do. I don’t think it’s beer battered, more like a cornmeal breading. You get sides with your plate, I usually switch out my fries for something different. The onion rings are pretty good, sometimes they can be hit or miss though. I don’t care for the coleslaw… not much flavor. I switch those out for green beans… taste just like Bill Miller green beans a nice peppery flavor. All in all, for a quick seafood fix this is pretty good.

Just love the food here. The Shrimp Platter is wonderful and I drive across town to eat it. The people are friendly and go out of their way to serve you. I prefer this to Sea island anytime. Keep up the great work…

Don’t miss this place! Incredible food and fantastic service. I was driving back to DFW headed down the 410 and saw a Taco Cabana sign so I thought I would stop and get some lunch. As I got off the the highway I saw Laguna Madre and pulled in rather than go to the Taco Cabana. I have never been here before but decided to give it a try… the line was long when I walked in but don’t be fooled. Within 5 minutes I had my ice tea and was sitting down. I had just enough time to wash up(spotless restroom by the way) and my food was ready! I ordered one of the lunch specials«fish or shrimp taco special» — two tacos for($ 4.50). I ordered one with grilled shrimp and one with fried fish,(green bean side, yum) the young girl smiled and asked… would you like spicy sauce or traditional with that. I was expecting her to say something like you can have one or the other sir. But no… she did not skip a beat and asked if I would like anything else. She said the gumbo was great today, would I like to try a cup! She was right it was great. By the way, the two behind the counter were Erica(my helper) and Ana. Orchestrating all the food going out was Jay… big smile and working his tail off. The food was fresh, the place is spotless and the atmosphere was happy! I went back to top it all off with the key lime pie and take a moment to write this… It’s rare these days to find a great place like this so dont pass it up. As I left Ana wished me a good day… I’ll be back on my next trip through SA! Is funny, good customer service is like the wip cream on the pie… it makes the food taste even better… Take a moment and enjoy the food!

Fast, filling and pretty tasty. Lunch rush can be a bit heavy, but service is very efficient and I’m mostly impressed that the restaurant was clean and did not smell like seafood, cooking oil, or anything in particular. Plenty of places to sit. Grilled fish tacos were delicious and cheap($ 4.95 for lunch plate with fries). I can’t say the meal was particularly memorable; it’s comparable to fast food.

For a fast food seafood place, there is good value to be found here. When I think fast food seafood, I think Long John Silver, Rudy’s(not the BBQ place, the south side fixture) Gyro’s etc. The baked and fried cod are both above average and come with two sides of your choosing, a slice of garlic bread and a hush puppy. The sides are typical Bill Miller style… nothing to write home about. The fried shrimp have been excellent each time I’ve had them. They are lightly breaded and perfectly fried. There have been absolutely no rubbery shrimp in the three times I’ve had them. Highly recommended. I have not had the fish or shrimp tacos, but my dining companions say they are a competent enough, albeit without the fresh corn tortillas one should expect for San Antonio. The shrimp gumbo is very tasty with a great balance of flavors. The shrimp in this gumbo are not the perfection of their fried cousins, but that’s to be expected. The gumbo is served with or without rice, and a bowl of it is sufficient for lunch. To try the goodness of this fast food seafood restaurant, you have to venture south. This location at US87 and Loop 410 has a sister restaurant on SW Military Dr. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but when I’m in the neighborhood, and I have a jones for fish, shrimp or gumbo, this is my go to place. You won’t be disappointed.
