Excellent dinner for 2 menu! Jäger schnitzel, spätzle,(cauliflower/fried potatoes) side salad and apple strudel! Love the Bavarian Brauhaus

My hubby and I went back last night for dinner, unsure if the cook was new but the experience was not the same. The bread and red cabbage was great; however the bratty and sauerkraut had potatoes and some meat didn’t taste as good as normal and the brats were off a little too. When we informed the waitress she just stated that’s how they do it here.

Updating to compliment their great waitstaff and amazing food. Beer and cheese soup is just too amazing for words. Spetzle is super good, especially for south of the Hill Country. Good place, good eats.

Was excited to try this place for awhile… Walked in and everyone was so friendly and helpful, definitely a plus in my book. Great fresh hit bread to start, we were so happy! I ordered the pork jäger schnitzel and fries… It came out piping hot and tasty. Although I’m not used to it, my dinner companion informed me it’s typical to use more salt in the cuisine. Yes I found this true. But it was completely edible and delicious. Would absolutely come back when I’m in town. Next time I think I’ll try the meatball. Looks so good!

Stopped here on a whim, so glad we did. Hubby is full Dutch and said a lot of the food reminded him of his Oma’s cooking. Portions were huge! I could only eat ½ my corned beef sandwich and the pork shank was too much for hubby, needless to say we have enough for dinner tonight! Terri waited on us and she was awesome!

We love the Sunday brunch here because they have schnitzel and eggs! Pork schnitzel with over easy eggs and potatoes are amazing. Not only were they open on Easter, but we had the greatest service from a blonde woman with a braid in her hair who never let my unsweet tea glass stay empty for long. A great experience!

So glad I discovered this place. The lunch specials are priced perfectly, owner is on site and super attentive. Ordered the Wiener schnitzel and it was fantastic. I will be going back to this place for sure.

Drove by and saw this little slice of Germany. Wonderful wait staff, she took time to explain a lot of the menu items. Took advantage of the Valentines special. So much delicious food a will be eating leftovers for a few days. I will be back very soon. Next time I will try some sausage. They look and smell out of this world.

I’d like to give this place 3.5 stars, but since I’m leaving in a good mood I’ll round up. Service was a 5, food was a 3, atmosphere is a 3. Having been to Germany, I’m just not sold. Jägerschnitzel was a bit dry and the gravy was salty and somewhat flavorless. Potatoes were good, as was my little spinach side salad. The beer cheese soup is pretty good, honestly this place’s saving grace, but it was way too salty for me to eat a cup of it. The serve these little hoagie rolls, but they are really hard and somewhat bland. Just don’t feel like there is a whole lot going on here. Need to explore the menu before making further judgments, however I’s rather drive to New Braunfels of Boerne for quality German food.

«mmm a piece of fried pork and beer would be good» was the thought that got us out of the house and we remembered this place we had passed on some other sojourn before. Really nice place and friendly staff seated us quickly, got me my beer and brought over the really nice bread and butter. We quickly realized that this place is lets say not super vegetarian friendly(not that we expected it to be… being German and all) but we figured my vegetarian companion could make a meal of the sides and so off we went with our order. The weiner schnitzel was quite good though the crust was a bit soggy, but the pork itself was pretty tender and obviously seasoned before the breading. What were standouts were the sides with the exception of the cauliflower which was bland on bland as another review pointed out. But the saurkraut was delicious with perfect pickling, a tender yet crisp cabbage with tinges of caraway adding an earthy pepperiness to the mixture, the red cabbage was a heap of vegetal tastiness, roasted broccoli with hazelnut butter was very underwhelming due to the lack of nuttiness in the butter but the broccoli itself was perfectly cooked. On another occasion the brats were quite good(hard to screw up a brat if you ask me!), bratkartoffeln(sauteed potatoes with onions) were delicious with crunchy brown bits and bits of charred onion. Spatzle was okay but not terrible or anything. All is all a worthwhile stop when craving a quick german bite.

Lots of food that’s reasonably priced. Whenever I’m craving red cabbage and spatzle, I come here. They’ve got this great appetizer of baked zucchini with cheese, tomato and herbs that’s awesome. Their one pound(!!!) meatball is very tasty and you’ll more than likely take half or more of it home. The staff is very friendly. If you’ve never sampled German fare, I suggest you try this spot.

Nice atmosphere in a neighborhood location with in-door and outdoor seating. I really wanted to give this place five stars, but a couple details I noticed made this a four star experience. Let’s talk about the food first. The bread is a thick, kneaded dough and not for those who cannot chew fairly dense bread. It’s good, but be forewarned that this is not fluffy and soft. There’s great flavor and taste to it and exceptionally good with the homemade butter. I had the Wiener schnitzel which is a thinly sliced pork with a type of breading on the outside. Some brown gravy is poured on top. It was a good size, but very thin and chewy. I’m not an expert on German cuisine, so I can’t vouch for authenticity. I can only say that it was different than all the others I have tried in other restaurants. The spatzel was really yummy! It was a chopped dough that is very similar to a noodle, but thicker. I also had fried potatoes which were yummy as well. No complaints about the sides whatsoever. I would definitely go back to try some of the other items. They also have an extensive beer list. Our waiter seemed like a really decent fellow who was nice and friendly. However, I think he needed some more training because he seemed like he didn’t know some common etiquette in being a waitstaff. Normally, I am not very picky, but I was rather surprised. First off, we were offered bread that we gladly accepted. However, the empty basket and butter were never removed or offered a refill the entire time of our dining experience. I think, it’s pretty normal to remove dishes away to clear the table? Therefore, when the food came we had to help the person move our plates around to fit our food on the table. Then, our server came by during the middle of the meal so I never had a chance to get ketchup or any condiments until I was done. Which I guess was ok, since maybe some Germans don’t use ketchup on their fried potatoes? Lastly, the really odd part was when we received our check before our dessert came. So I had the bill all done and on the table and then waited another five minutes of dessert. It was just. Really odd. Anyway, I think he just needed more training because he was super nice, just a little out of order?

For a city largely founded by Germans, we don’t have very many German restaurants around SA! Props to this one for not only having traditional foods but also having great lunch specials and a bar, complete with German beers! Lunch specials include ~10 options, all under $ 10, including items like wiener schnitzel, jaeger schnitzel, and various sandwiches. The weiner schnitzel was crisp and tender with a savory brown gravy, spaetzel was flavorful, but sides of cold german potato salad and cauliflower with cream sauce were bland. Filling portion, good size for the price. Service was not particularly attentive. No one was at the hostess stand when I entered, but I was dining alone so I headed straight to the bar. I placed an order, asked for a missing item and the check, and that was my complete interaction with the staff. Note that they have a weekday HH(M-F, 3−7PM) with food and drink specials, Trivia Tuesday nights, kids eat free with adult meal on Wednesdays, and brunch is 11AM-3PM on Sundays.

Loved every part of this meal! You can get a beer flight. The complimentary bread and butter was very good. We ordered an appetizer, but it didn’t come out. When we saw the portion sizes we were glad! I had the Weinerschnitzel(pork) with spaetzel and broccoli for sides. Nice portion of breaded pork with a fantastic brown gravy. Service was good and we will definitely be back!

We had never heard of this place before, but stumbled across it on Groupon when we spotted a $ 17 for $ 30 deal and overall, it was pretty good! Way different from your typical restaurant go-to’s. Our meal got free bread(German?) as an appetizer. The bread itself was pretty tasty and a tad doughy on the inside, however we weren’t a fan of the butter that came with it. Reminded me of margarine. I got the Wiener Schnitzel with Spatzle and Kartoffelsalat(potato salad) for sides(pictures!). The pork was really good, and so was the Spatzle. The Potato Salad was okay… it just felt like it was missing something– and honestly I want to say it’s because it’s a German version, not Americanized. Our table also got the Bartkartoffeln(fried potatoes w/sauteed onions) and they were delicious. Then to wash it down, we both got Paulaner Oktoberfest– which was good, but took some getting used to. I would definitely recommend this place– however I thought it was still a little pricey even with the Groupon. The beers alone were $ 6, however I do think they have drink special nights. The service was also spot on though. We had the sweetest waitress and even the manager came around to ask us how the meal was at the end. Great service.

Amazing authentic German food. I have not had this good of German Food since I lived in Germany back in 1987. Servers are amazing and know the entire menu. Ralph the owner visits everyone that comes in to make sure they are satisfied.

Excellent food. We’ll be back. Owner is from Stuttgart, Germany. Great flavor and textures. We had the Wurst Sampler. 4 different choices: Brat, Jalapeño, Curry Wurst, Nunberger. Very tasty. I had the Wienerschnitzel(Pork) with the potatoes and the Spatzle(noodles). A good size portion mixed in with a light batter, tender meat, and brown gravy all made for a great tasting meal. Very tender and very delicious. My wife had the Pulled Pork with sauerkraut and another side of Cold German Potato Salad. It was AWESOME. So tender and with a great taste. We will be back to this awesome German food haven. We ordered the Bread Pudding and took it home. Came with a sweet sauce. Oh my, «it was good». Guess we’ll have to go back tomorrow and try the other food items. Outside seating is nice. Dining room looks very inviting and the«hands on» owner made it all come together nicely.

I was really excited to try this place, so it breaks my heart to say this place was simply just mediocre. One interesting thing to note… most of the clientele at this restaurant were older people… I’ve never been somewhere were over 50% of the people eating were over 60? I ordered the jagerschnitzel which was a dollar more than the normal schnitzel because the gravy comes with mushroom. The food was just meh. The schnitzel was hard and difficult to chew. The gravy was simply brown gravy with some mushrooms added to it. Saurkraut was good, but that’s because I don’t think you can mess up saurkraut, and the cold potato salad? It was extremely bland. I nuked it with black pepper to try to liven up the taste, but alas… nothing worked Our waiter, Anthony, was a doll though. He did a really great job and helped us with the menu. 3 stars not for the service… strictly for quality of food
