I bought a used piano from Alamo Music Center and couldn’t be more pleased with the service and overall buying experience. We live in Houston and I was just going in to kill some time and price some pianos for our new home. Raul was the salesman who showed me around and was really great to deal with. No hard sell tactics whatsoever but had answers for all my questions. He showed me two great pianos to consider and I took his business card. Fast forward one month later, we were ready to buy one of the pianos and Raul took care of the deal. Very fair price, awesome piano.(1968 Yamaha P2) Delivery was prompt and professional. Piano was tuned and approved by my son’s piano instructor as being top notch. Dealing with Raul made me very confident about making such an important purchase. My family looks forward to years of enjoying our piano and I would definitely recommend Alamo Music Center.

This place is centrally located. I was pleasantly surprised the every time I take my daughter to guitar classes I always greeted with friendly helpful people. This is a great place for private guitar classes. I highly recommend.

They charge you 27.50 for strings to be changed, gave me zero to no info of what string quality were using and no time frame for when to pick it up, over all customer service was mediocre.

Folks here were very helpful with a troublesome string change and the guitar’s inexpert user. Nice neighborhood shop with an independent feel.

I understand that Alamo music is a privately owned company but quite honestly, that doesn’t sway me into purchasing from them. A few things to note: 1. Everything is overly priced. Guitar strings, cheapest is around $ 10. 2. Very small selection of brands, specifically guitars. Fender, LTD, Ibanez, and a few others but no big brands like Gibson, PRS, Marshall, MesaBoogie, Engl, etc. 3. And this is very important, I feel like I’m more knowledgable than the individuals who work there. I overheard two employees in the guitar section having a conversation and one of them didn’t know that Squier was owned by Fender and didn’t know LTD was also owned by ESP. These are the kind of things these people should know and the fact that they don’t, does not make me feel comfortable ever coming back here. Save your money, go to Sam Ash, and get help and knowledge from people who actually know what they’re talking about.

Sometimes in life you get the«I wants», and sometimes you have a need; but when you stumble into a music store with those quick fix I wants and end up leaving having that satisfied feeling of having your needs met… You were at Alamo Music. Christopher McKee helped me. I helped myself by getting off the couch and desiring a bass guitar after listening to some DeLoused in the Comatorium for the umpteenth-thousands time. I felt comfortable waking to Alamo Music, strait to the back of the store, unharrased. Chris, approached after a while setting me up to jam(noise) and leaving me alone to be annoying. He helped me answer the questions which I knew the answers to and couldn’t say, and without lifting a finger had me leaving the store with a bass, an amp, and a fender custom shop acoustic guitar. I’d say I spent too much, but. I know what I got thanks to Chris and Alamo Music. *shhh* I robbed them blind!

Great to see that stores like this are still alive! Alamo Music has a great selection of instruments and a very knowledgeable, welcoming staff waiting to answer any questions you might have. Nice to have real musicians helping you choose an instrument rather than a salesperson. Alamo Music’s prices are very fair and compete well with large chain stores(Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc.). Their laid back, relaxed environment provides for a hassle free search process for the perfect instrument to fit your needs. They offer lessons on site by qualified and dedicated musicians available for novice musicians or advanced musicians seeking new stimulation. Prices are very fair for the quality of the instructors. I would recommend Alamo Music over any other music store in the San Antonio area! Keep local music stores alive!

Absolutely one of the rudest service managers and worst customer service I have ever encountered. I took my amplifier in for them to listen to a hum in it. They listened, said they couldn’t do anything and charged me $ 50.00! Beware!

Good to see shops like this staying alive with the likes of megamarts Guitar Center and Mars dominating the musical instrument landscape. Alamo Music Center offers privacy with separate rooms for drums, basses, electric and acoustic guitars and pianos. Lessons are offered on site as well so you can sign up with the people in house. Today the boy was trying out some acoustics to compliment the electrics he has at home. Alamo offeres a great selection of brand names, not so brand names as well as a room dedicated solely to handmade Taylor guitars. It is always fun to roam around and play a bass or bang on some bongos while the boy picks at some guitars. «That’s some mighty fine pickin and a singin» Another plus is you don’t have the numerous aspiring axe shredders playing their version of Eruption on twelve different amps across the room while you’re trying to listen to your guitar. There was one guy in here who was treating us all to his youtube acoustic version of Careless Whispers. Now normally I might make some backhanded comment on how gay or lame that might be, if it were any other profession displaying what I consider to be an affront but I respect musicians too much so I endured.
