Terrible on all accounts from the perspective of a skeet shooter. I arrived at 3:00pm and was told that I would be placed on a waiting list unless I wanted to shoot some other ridiculous sounding field. I waited while someone who clearly would have been perfectly content shooting the trap field, which was open, stood at a single station and shot for an hour; he and his son never deviated from that station. I was puzzled why I couldn’t shoot with this group in front of me(three people but only two shooters), but I was told I would have to wait. I waited until 4:40, when I finally got to shoot by myself, using a delay button. The skeet traps were not aligned correctly, both high and low house more closely approximating a springing teal than an traditional skeet target. It took me a full round to adjust. Then it started pouring rain, and they closed the course. I should have just left when they told me there was a waiting list. The staff were indifferent and precocious. I only came out here because the San Antonio Gun Club is closed for the holidays. I’ll never be back again for skeet. I’ve used this range’s rifle and pistol areas before and they’re decent, but it’s fairly obvious the people running this operation don’t care about shotgun sports in the slightest.

Great range! This is the only range my husband and I go to. The staff is awesome and they give military discounts :)

Wow. This place is my new favorite range. I live in Austin but some down the SA to visit in laws regularly and will be making this place a must go. The staff is amazing, every one of them are super friendly and helpful. Bonus, they give us veterans a discount.

Updating Review: Adding on a star for Larry M. the RSO. He gave me great pointers during my breaks. Very professional, very friendly, and much appreciated. Thanks Larry! I really like shooting here. It feels safer than other ranges I’ve been to. I like the divided pistol lanes. The pulley system is nice, so there is no cease fire, but I knocked off a star because there are no yardage markings. You just have to estimate how far you’re sending your target out. Not good if you’re trying to improve certain yardages. I also took my CHL here. I knocked off a star for that. I bought a «ticket» from their website but didn’t get any confirmation email other than from paypal. Would have been nice to get an email knowing what to expect, to bring food, etc. The instructor was knowledgable because of his law enforcement experience, but could use some presentation/teaching skills.

Outstanding – my favorite San Antonio range(and I’ve been to all the major ones)! I come almost every week; the staff are all extremely helpful and the range safety officers are highly experienced and very politely monitor and ensure safety. The pistol and rifle ranges are just about the best facilities in the area. Heck – there’s even a giant swamp cooler out at the covered pistol range! Nice floor to ceiling dividers in the covered pistol range keeps the ejected brass from the adjacent lane from hitting you. The target ranging«system» on the pistol range is a great thing – but the wire lines need to be greased a bit. Keep up the good work! Oh, I forgot to mention, they take good care of military active/retired/veterans and LEOs.

I’ve shot here three times and the staff is very friendly and safety-conscious. Lots of wonderful outdoor space. I have never purchased a weapon here but they do have a big selection. Great place to come practice any type of shooting.

For one thing this shooting range is a great disappointment. They at one time were shut down and I believe under different ownership. They were a good shooting range and now it appears it all about their profit margin and not customer courtesy. The range staff especially some tall Anglo staff person in the pistol range military seal or police officer wanna be was the rudest person to me and my wife. We were not even in the facility yet and he came out yelling where to park or not to park. And later making remarks about Mexicans not knowing where to park to another co-worker. Well let me tell you I’m not a Mexican you bigot — and second I used to bring many of my co-workers to this gun range no longer. There clearly are other places to go here in San Antonio. I know many Hispanics spend hard earned money at this shooting range. It’s disappointing the staff are extremely low on diversity training. I just ask all Hispanic or other minorities to be aware of how you are treated at this range and consider taking your business elsewhere. My advise to management consider diversity training for your staff. My Hispanic money and that of my friends are going elsewhere.

Very good, comprehensive, safe, friendly place to shoot — pretty much anything. We shot clay, but I looked at the pistol, rifle, and archery areas. All were outdoors and decent. Staff was friendly bad the store was very extensive. Bathrooms were a bit dicey, but clean. I would do back.

A place to shoot! This is my go to shop for ffl transfers, professional and friendly staff. From my experience, you will get a call from them within 2 to 3 hours of receiving your weapon. Competitive price on transfers and no BS. Pistol range = i like that you dont have to go down range to set up your target, each lane has dividers(not bullet proof) but at least you wont get the casing from the person next to you. Rifle range = also have dividers, all lanes have spotting scopes, sandbags available. i like the 50⁄100 yards combo lane. I love this place!

The customer service is great, the ranges are decent and I love that pistol, rifle, and shotgun are distinguished. The rifle range only goes out to 100−200m and there is no way to check your target. They’ve installed scopes to check your targets, but they’re blurry and useless at the 200m targets. Their products are decent and they sell weapons as well as run a range.

Customer service needs work. If your looking for a good pistol talk to Larry, he is an excellent man to work with! But avoid the young blonde associate with a diamond ring who turns out to be the managers wife. She was very rude and knew nothing of the products and treated my husband and I like second class Mexican citizens. I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years because it’s a good place to shoot. And this is the first time we have felt mistreated and unwelcomed.

Best range I have found in San Antonio thus far. The staff are very professional and helpful. They also have a good selection of weapons for sale. I don’t mind driving 20 miles to go this range.

We took a NRA pistol training course out here to learn about how to safely operate our new hand gun. Our instructor, Alan, was nice and knowledgeable, and he made the 4 hour course entertaining. They have an outdoor shooting range, archery range, and gun shop. All the employees were friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend checking out A Place to Shoot!

Awesome staff and great outdoor range! This is my favorite range in San Antonio! It also seconds as a practice range to the nearby police academy. Definitely give this place a try if you’re looking to clock some range time!

Visited this range this morning with my wife who has never shot before. From the moment we walked into the store we were looked after. Every member of staff was courteous, professional and genuinely pleasant. Cannot recommend highly enough.

A great staff, very fine folks here. We enjoy coming here to shoot our hand guns with no pressure or attitudes. I only wish we could shoot our home defense shot guns here; hopefully some day. Again, the professional staff is top-notch.

I’m a relatively new gun owner(a little over a year now) and have been to four gun ranges in San Antonio. There are many reasons why I’ve been to a Place to Shoot dozens of times, and the other three, a total of three times. The customer service is awesome, prices are right, and range environment is the best of any outdoor range I’ve seen. I just took my CHL class here today, 12÷10÷11. The class was so good and instructor so knowledgeable that it prompted me to leave this review — but please understand, the class is not the reason I’m leaving them a five star review. The rating has been earned from the sum total of numerous visits to this range over the course about a year, and I hope to continue visiting for many more. Keep up the good work.

Not the cheapest range(not the most either) in the area but definitely the best I’ve seen in the San Antonio area. As others have said, this place is under new management. I’m not sure what the other person was talking about but they easily have the best customer service out of any range I’ve ever been to. Most ranges seem to have a hobbyist mentality where service is a distant second but not here. Their prices are listed on their website– you can’t be surprised about what they charge. They even have the requisite range dog lounging in the shop… and a cute little puppy running around playing. Definitely a family-run business atmosphere.

The customer service here leaves a lot to be desired. They charge you extra for an extra rifle or pistol on the same target. Husband was not happy about that. The Bullet Hole only charges per day regardless. My husband and I went to try the skeet & trap range and it sucked. Clay came out broken 50% of the time making it completely useless and frustrating. Thankfully they didn’t charge us for the broken clay.

I’ve been going to this range for about 10 yrs now. Staff is always friendly and courteous. No range nazi’s here. You walk in and are greeted by a friendly staff member. You pay($ 10 fee) and let the employee know how many weapons you have. You receive your target(s) and go on your way to the range(pistol, in my case). Pistol range has individual booths with wire lines for setting up your target. I haven’t used the rifle range, but it too has dividers between shooters. The range store appears to be well stocked with anything you need related to shooting. If you’re a mature adult and safety conscious, this is the place for you. I usually visit mid-day during the week or on Sundays at noon, when they open. Highly recommend.
