Hidden gem on the TPKE. Great food at great prices. It should be busier than it is, and I think that may be because of the bar crowd, which can get a bit loud.

I’ll start off by saying the food is very good, in terms of BBQ. I had the tri-tip and baby back ribs and they were delicious. The mozzarella sticks were ok. The wings were good(nice and crispy) although lacking in heat. I will come back for the bbq. Where I was turned off started from the phone call to make reservations. They do not take reservations for less than 8 people. Fine. I can deal with that. It’s your restaurant and you can dictate this based on demand. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be 20 minutes(we had a party of 5, including our little one, which required a high chair). 40 minutes later it was me that was checking in with the hostess and manager to see how our table was looking. Listen, I get that you want to keep customers, but we have a little one and you didn’t check in with us at all until we came to you. 40 minutes is a long time for a 20-month old to be waiting. And add 10 minutes on after that. We were sitting after waiting 50 minutes. Additionally, a better approximation of wait time goes a long way for me. I don’t get upset, I merely leave if the wait time is too long. Anyway, it’s tough to enjoy a meal once you are frustrated from the get-go. We will try coming at a less busier day than a weekend. Our waitress was awesome btw.

Pretty good BBQ, the tri-tip was a little weird tasting. The mac and cheese was incredible, as was the french onion soup.

Paul and the team from Fireside catered my son’s Bar Mitzvah this past weekend and were phenomenal! The food(bbq chicken breasts and tri-tip and mac & cheese and cole slaw and more) was all wonderful and the service was top notch. The evening ended with an apple cobbler that people just could not get enough of. Thanks for making the event such a huge success! I highly recommend them for catering your next event.

The barbecue is the best around. The meat just falls off the bone and is very tasty. We bring friends there often and everyone loves it. The staff is friendly.

This place sucks! Worst service ever, and then after waiting after almost 2 hours, the food was ice cold. Tried to complaint about meal and the waitress argued with us! If you’re looking for a bad time out on the town, this is the place for you!

We finally tried Fireside BBQ and Grill Not what we expected, seemed less than run of the mill They were a bit busy, it was a Friday night Things just did not click, it did not seem right We walked in they said there would be a 5 minute wait Within 20 minutes I was seated with my date They seemed disorganized but I get it, they were a bit busy The hostess and staff seemed to be all over the place, not focused, a bit dizzy Our table for two was wedged in the corner, right by a door That the waitstaff and customers used to get to the outdoor dining floor Needless to say it our location was on a main thoroughfare I highly suggest that a table for dining should not be placed there Our waitress was very pleasant and she did try her best It seemed as if she was overwhelmed, but I must say she did pass the test We ordered two chicken selections, one slow roasted and the other cooked on the fire When the dishes came out they looked exactly the same, not much to desire I thought we were going to have some type of BBQ Instead we had two half chickens swimming in broth just like a stew Sides that my date liked were salad and broccoli I had some peanut Cole slaw and I don’t even remember, did not impress me I suppose to be fair, we should give Fireside another chance But with so many choices in the Hudson Valley we probably will not even give it a glance

I have literally driven past this place for 20 years. Tonight we stopped. A local family joint for sure. Love the tavern aspect and the smokey smell in the air. Sat where I could see the kitchen and it’s clean and efficient. Dining room was filled with families which I love to see. I had the Tri Tip and it was amaze balls. My ‘date’ had the land and sea and loved it! We will be back! Thank you for the great food and service and good luck at your seco

Let me start off by saying I am not normally a BBQ fan. HOWEVER, this place had me at the smell of the meat when I walked in. The atmosphere made me feel like I was in the south and had a pet alligator but that was a-OK with me. The waitresses were very sweet and attentive and the food was awesome. We tried the Tri-tips, pulled pork and ribs with the 2 side choices of mac-n-cheese and peanut slaw. I don’t liek peanuts but i def ate my share of slaw. I twas delicious an dnot made with mayo. The mac and sheese tyasted homemade, not store bought or frozen and paired perfectly with the delicious pulled pork. The ribs fell off the bone, let me repeat, THEMEATFALLSOFFTHEBONE! the sauce wasn’t your typical thick sweet sauce but more of a light weight tnagy taste that really displays the taste of the meat. the Tri-tips were my favorite though. all you need is a butter knife to cut through them and pop em right in your mouth. so freakin good! i already told my family they have to try it out.

the BBQ here is awesome. Get anything at all and you won’t be disappointed. They also have a full bar and one martini had me zonked! we go there often and highly recommend it to all the corporate restaurants around. the atmosphere is country, they have a fireplace in winter and the place smells wonderful. very friendly staff. Do go! Historic tavern feel, lots of locals.

My girlfriend and I stopped by Fireside BBQ for something to eat while passing through. This is one of those don’t waste your money places(and a lot of money, it’s expensive!). It is obvious that everything here is pre packaged and frozen, typical fried bar food. Even fried bar food can taste good, but there is no flavor to anything, except a greasy fried taste. The bartender had no idea how to make a drink. And the alcohol selection was bad, all flavored bourbons and vodkas. It seems the staff is just interested in hanging out at the end of the bar complaining about how much they hate their job. Atmosphere is bad, could be cozy, but it is just dirty, too bright and horrible music(late 90’s pop). The crowd here is older, not a fun environment.

We came to the Fireside Bar and Grill for our second time with a party of four. The food was very good, however, we were all disappointed with the small portions. No exaggeration. Our waitress was very nice. I was a little embarrassed because we had recommended this place and our guests were treating. I would like to come back but probably won’t because we just didn’t feel any generosity with the portions.

This is not the first time coming to Fireside but it was not good. The place was not full yet we had to wait for the waitress to come by to take our drinks, luckily we where ready to order also(that’s how long we waited). The food was ok, not awesome and the waitress was MIA!!! I think we are not coming back in a looooooooonnnngggg time!!!

Quaint n Rustic Cue This local joint near Poughkeepsie is worth a stop when you are on a long trip on the Taconic expressway. The bar was littered with locals avidly attentive to the sports playing on the TVs. The place feels like a historic tavern with a stone fireplace in the dining area. I had the babyback ribs and tri-tip. The lunch special is even served on Sundays. The babyback ribs were meaty and delicious. The tri-tip was tender and beefy. I enjoyed the Asian style peanut slaw. The baked beans were also good and the Cheese-whizzy mac n cheese was comforting. I also had a summer ale to wash all this down. The onion rings were one of the best I’ve ever had. I suspect they were beer battered. My beer mug was the frostiest mug I’ve ever seen, which was a pleasantly cool surprise. After reading some Unilocal reviews, I decided to have the warm Apple cobbler a la mode which was also divine. The apples were never-ending. I think there were at least three whole apples in there. It was a whole lot of crunchy-cinnamon-y– apple-y indulgence. I struggled to finish it but I was triumphant and defeated the dessert. I felt a sense of gluttonous accomplishment. Oh, but it wasn’t over yet. We also had the cheesecake with raspberry topping. The cheese cake had an almond biscotti crust. After a couple bites we had to take the cheesecake to go. During the car ride back to the city, the cheese cake received some warmth from the sun. We couldn’t resist but to try some sun warmed car cheesecake and it was even better than the first bite. It was love at second bite; where I could taste the almond biscotti in the crust. Definitely worth a stop if you are passing through. Fireside will fill your belly up and have you leave with a warm smile.

Let me start by drooling over the amazing tenderness of their tri-tip mm mmmm. My husband and I tried this place on Sunday for the first time around 4pm for an early dinner. It was pretty empty, except at the bar where all of the locals stopped to stare at us newcomers as soon as we walked in. The bartender was pulling double duty as the waitress, so service wasn’t too great. She forgot basic items such as napkins and plates but was prompt in bringing them when we asked. Two things that we’ve come to expect from BBQ joints are cornbread and bottles of sauce in different flavors to try. This place had neither, so that was a disappointment. But the BBQ chicken nachos and meat were amazing, so we left happily stuffed.

A must go to in The Greater Poughkeepsie area!!! Make sure you come hungry, they have so many great things on the menu! Very close to the Taconic Parkway and worth the stop to try some amazing BBQ. Be sure to try their Fireside Brew(similar to Rolling Rock). The Tri Tip(offered as multiple apps and Entrées) melts in your mouth. The have a peanut coleslaw that is to die for– Unique and worth ordering as a side dish. This is the best BBQ I have ever had in the North.
