White Elephant Exchange and Boutique

I came here with some of my girl friends. Such a fun place with such a unique selection. Most definitely my first stop for a buy, sell, trade place!

I stopped here one evening to check it out as an afterthought. I had driven by a bunch of times and thought the logo was cute, and I’ll admit, I was moderately swayed by the Unilocal reviews. This store is shared with the «Two Dancing Cats» store, and appeared to be staffed by both owners.
Upon entering, I was immediately greeted with a LOT of info about both stores. (think: two minute intro about sales, inventory, etc). I’ll spare the details of the conversation and be concise: have you ever walked into a store and immediately felt uncomfortable? That’s here.
The actual consignment section of the store is quite small: a few hanging racks, some shoes, jewelry and other accessories. The bulk of the store is the Two Dancing Cats.
If you like a lot of attention/​questions/​chatting when you’re shopping, you might find that this place works for you. I just don’t think the environment at White Elephant is my thing.

Such an awesome shop! The owner is very true to a hip and with it style! She always has new stuff every time I come in, and I can never leave without my eye catching something so unique and lovely. Definitely recommend this shop for everyone!

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Has a great selection and variety that you will be sure to find something you love. Has a combination of traded clothing as well as new forming a appealing aesthetic. I have found some unique clothing and jewelry that have become some of my favorite wardrobe pieces.
Selling clothing, jewelry and shoes is very simple. She’ll talk you through it if you’re new to the process.

Has hip, retro and cute clothes both new and used. I found the cutest dress, stylish pants and fun jewelry!!! I get lots of compliments everytime I wear them! Items are constantly changing so the selection of merchandise is always fresh and interesting. Owner and staff are very helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

I have visited this charming shop several times. Each time I am greeted warmly and given helpful suggestions. I adore and appreciate the personal attention I receive when searching for new outfits. I always walk out with something functional and fun. The store has a wide selection of both new and consignment items and offers something for everyone. I will be returning to White Elephant Exchange and Boutique again and again for their friendly and helpful customer service; along with their unique and versatile selection of clothing and accessories.

I’m going to start off by saying that I been into many boutiques and consignment shops in Salt Lake City. This one is BY FAR the worst. I wandered into White Elephant after seeing the clothing display outside, thinking I would check it out. The clothes were extremely overpriced, and they weren’t even good looking items. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a blond woman. She seemed friendly and helpful at first, showing me around. But this didn’t last for long, she began to agitate me by handing me clothes that I didn’t even like. «I know you’ll love this!» «Just try it on.» «This really fits your personality» The friend I was with called me by my first name. The woman who runs the shop began to call me by my first name. «Lizzy, come try this on!» I tried on what she had given me, and exited the fitting room. «Oh… I was expecting you to show me. How did you like them?» «Um… They were… Not my style.» «What do you mean?» «I didn’t like them all that much» «well. Do you want me to put them back for you?» She said with a tinge of anger in her voice. «That would be lovely, thanks.» She kept showing me items that «I would love» and «would look great on me» I had to explain multiple times that I’m not looking to buy a $ 100 shirt. I ended up purchasing one shitty necklace for $ 6, and a pair of sunglasses for $ 10.
The next day I returned with donations. She told me they were closing in 8 minutes. I had one small bag of donations, as if she couldn’t sort through it in 8 minutes. As I was walking out she said «you should know that we don’t take clothing brands like forever 21. Also no rips or tears. We value QUALITY» she remarked. She said rudely and sent me off. I had a pair of vintage Ralph Lauren’s from Italy– perfect condition. A prada bag– great condition. And many more high quality items. I hope to never to return to this awful store. I personally don’t like getting ripped-​off, but I don’t know about you. I do not think this store even deserves one star to be honest.

This place is THE BEST! It has a great selection of clothing and the staff is extremely helpful when it comes to finding a super cute new outfit. I will be shopping here again.
