Van Leeuwen Adam DDS

Went to this Dentist a month ago. They gave a quote that did seem higher than normal and we have awesome insurance out of California. We rescheduled for a follow up for me and a new patient appointment for my wife for March 1^st. We have been ill all weekend with a head cold and strong hacking cough. We called as soon as we could to cancel. It was 24 hours before the appointment. When I asked to reschedule, the girl at the desk said she would call us back. When she called back 5 minutes later, she said that we would have to pay a $ 50/​hr cancellation fee and that we booked for 2.5 hours for me and 1.5 hours for my wife. I asked her if she really wanted us to come in sick when we couldn’t even breath or sit without coughing. She said they certainly didn’t want us to come in if we were miserable. which we are!!. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.

Van Leeuwen dental has been my primary dentist for 30 plus years. Recently my wife needed some dental work. Adam Van Leeuwen did a simple extraction of a single tooth in January and required a follow up visit. Since retirement I find myself without dental insurance as do many seniors. The cost of the simple extraction and one follow up appointment was well over two thousand dollars. I paid half at the time of service. Since that time I have seen one statement and paid an additional five hundred dollars and received no less than 30 very rude and threatening phone calls and a letter threatening collections and it is not even the end of February. I used to proudly recommend all of my friends to Dr Van Leeuwen and am sorry to say I will now issue warnings about going to this place. The receivables girl named Danielle is beyond rude and I have found that the cost of the work they do is so expensive that insurance will be of little or no help. Also, they refuse to offer the standard of a 10 to 15 percent discount for uninsured patients like most every dentist does. Sorry to say me and my family are done with the Van Leeuwen’s. I would strongly urge anybody looking for a good Dentist look elsewhere.
