Haven’t actually tried the food so I can’t give it 5 but I pick up lunch for my company’s business meetings and the customer service here is great! With my large orders it is so nice to have someone go over everything with me to make sure it is correct, and they even help me carry it out to my car!

Best place to go to for a quick lunch. Oh and I love their BBQ Chicken Salad. Highly recommended!

I got their pineapple regular rumbi burger and it was really good. The burger itself was pretty tall and required a toothpick just to hold it all together and it was a little messy. I wouldn’t recommend eating this in the car loll. I paired it with chips and salsa and the salsa was unique because it had mango in it, which I haven’t had in a while. The chips were crisp and freshly made. This place is perfect for 2 – 3 people having lunch together but I think it might be better to find another place for larger groups. Their parking was kind of hectic because the lot is small and there are other restaurants there… so it gets busy But the food was good and I’ll be back

I am a fan of this place only because of the consistency of the food and if you are in a tight jam for a quick lunch spot these guys are always a solid choice. The fish is usually what i eat there with the rumbi rice to go with. Blackened Mahi.

I’ve never been to Rumbi before and I’ve lived in Utah for 6 years. Utah seems very prone to the whole cafeteria style restaurant which is a slight upgrade from normal fast food, but still not a place you take a date unless you’re 14 years old and your mom dropped you off down the block so your friends couldn’t see her mini van that you’re embarrassed of. If you come here knowing you walk up to a counter, talk to a pimply faced high school kid, and wait to have a tray of food brought out to you, then you’re all good. Because for what it is, the food is good. The rice bowls are what they’re known for, and they’re filling. But I definitely say try their soup, it’s made with coconut milk and it’s light and delicious. Also, try their sweet potato fries. And lastly, try cocaine. Not from Rumbi’s necessarily, I’m just saying try it. Because how else do you know something is bad unless you try it for yourself. Here’s a tip though: it’s not bad. Farewell!

Neat concept for fast food. Healthy. We don’t normally do chains, but can’t offer too many complaints here. We liked the bowl. Good fries.

I’m tempted to do one of those single sentence distillations that I see so frequently on Unilocal and just say if you’re a fan of marginal toppings on a lot of rice in generally undersized and overpriced bowls, then this is the place for you. I suppose that might be a bit unfair(but only just barely), but nothing here is really spectacular. Most of what I’ve had wasn’t bad per se(a friend of mine really liked this place and I indulged him for a while), just mostly overpriced for what it is, unless you really really like rice and paying excessively for it. They didn’t have sandwiches back when I was going, so I can’t speak to that, but given their model, I doubt those are going to be too tremendous, either. I might go back someday to find out, but the entire experience I found so distasteful towards the end(I began to feel like I was not only being robbed but an accomplice to the crime), I still do not look on them particularly fondly. It’s not quite good enough to be a regular restaurant for a change of pace, since so many others deserve it more, but maybe if I had a coupon or something… maybe.

The fish tacos here were good, the rice bowl was fine(get the Rumbi rice!) though I got shrimp on it and I didn’t feel it was the best quality shrimp. I’ve had a salad here before I think was pretty good as well. They send out buy one get one coupons often which makes this place a great deal, but regardless, if you need food this place is fine.

Gracious food portions! Awesome cooked meats; had shrimp, chicken, steak, and all are great! Being a college student I wait for bogo offers in the mail, or email from Rumby. For me it’s a little expensive without a coupon. a single item will be between 6 $ and 12 $. the Bogo makes it a sweeeeet deal!

If only I could give this garbage pit negative stars… Ate here for lunch today and am nearly at a loss for words. I ordered the aloha salad and requested that the dressing be on the side. My boyfriend ordered the chicken club, which the menu stated came with bbq sauce on it. Wouldn’t you know My salad came drenched in a strange noxious dressing, and my poor boyfriend’s sandwich arrived slathered in mayonnaise. No BBQ sauce anywhere near it. Now I for one am a mayo fan. The boyfriend is NOT. What sucked the most was that we were crunched for time and didn’t have the option of sending our food back. As anyone with a drizzle of common sense knows, you can’t undress a salad any more than you can wipe mayonnaise off of a sandwich. Once it’s there, you’re stuck with it whether you like it or not. Moving on, while the concept of my salad sounded intriguing on the menu it was obviously conceptualized by a no talent ass clown. The only saving grace of our meal was the side of tempura shrimp the kid at the register upsold us on. That is, if you can call three pre-frozen, pounded and over battered shrimp deep fried in rank old fryer oil a saving grace. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Eh, it was ok, but is out classed when compared to L&L. I guess it’s like Hawaiian BBQ for haoles. Not really my thing.

I often eat out with my kidlet and Rumbi is a favorite because I can get a fresh salad while the wee one has a nice bowl of mac and cheese. The food is consistently good, but on my last visit, the brightest, most cheerful hostess(?) helped us. She was soooo friendly, I wanted to hug her! I could see her wiping tables with a smile, spreading cheer and an energetic vibe wherever she went. I really really appreciate still finding businesses that TRY to employ friendly people. Let’s not become elitist snobs SLC — support happy people!

The rice bowls are huge! Tried the steak with teriyaki sauce; delicious! and the chicken with orange sauce; good, but I liked the steak better. Rice bowls comes with yummy veggies. Loved the meat, but didn’t love the fact that there was so much more rice compared to meat. Tip: Share the rice bowl if you’re not starving. Bowl was 80% rice and 20% meat.

Just went here randomly and it was a decent place. I got a pulled pork sandwich with some fries that were a mix of potato and sweet potato, which I thought were kinda cool. The overall experience was just okay. If you are looking for a lunch place during a break then try it out. Not too busy when I went during lunch so it was kind of quiet. Out of all the fast food restaurants though, it’s something different if you want something a little more«island-y.» So, not bad place to add to the fast food list.

I know it’s a chain store. I know it’s nothing spectacular. I know that my expectations shouldn’t be too high. I’ve been to the Murray(53rd and State) location a dozen or so times and have always gotten good food and service. Good solid 3 stars each time. Yesterday was my first visit to this downtown location and I was not impressed, at all, even by Rumbi standards. I ordered the«special» combo that was advertised on a huge poster in the front window. It came with meat, sauce, tempura shrimp and a salad. Great! We placed our number on the table and began to wait. The order-taker/waitress/cashier/person came over to our table and announced(well, mumbled actually, we had to have her repeat the announcement 3 times to understand) that they were OUT of tempura shrimp. «You want more chicken, instead?» was her solution. I had an epiphany and asked if they had any«regular» shrimp they could put in my cobmo instead, thus keeping it as close as possible to what I ordered. She obliged. When the food got to us, I was wishing I would have opted for the O-T/w/c/p’s idea of having an extra-high pile of chicken, because it was good(as good as frozen chicken can be). The shrimp were terrible! They tasted like they had been cooked from frozen, but not quite cooked enough. They had a strange, astronaut food, type of taste and texture… gak! Lisa’s teriyaki rice and veggie bowl was very good with yummy steamed veggies. I think they were just having an off night and I ordered the wrong thing.

As a rule, I loathe chain restaurants. There is something inherently creepy about getting exactly the same meal no matter which location you go to. Places like Rumbi’s, and a few other chains such as Chili’s, Applebees, and Red Robin kind of freak me out. The food initially seems quite good. But as you eat, you notice something unusual and specious about these Stepford meals. The food looks real, it smells real, but the taste has a fake and phony quality. When the meal is finished, you feel full, and your taste buds have been properly stimulated. But still, you feel vaguely dissatisfied, and even a little dirty. Basically, dining at chain restaurants is kind of like going to a prostitute. They are painted up nicely, and they have done their thing so many times, it appears like they really like serving you. But in the end, you just get screwed. Anyway, Rumbi’s food taste really good, especially their fries. And from time to time, I’m willing to pay for it.

This restaurant is part of a larger chain with location throughout Utah and possibly other states. This particular restaurant is located on the North side of 400 South. One important note about this location is the lack of parking during the lunch and dinner services. It is often difficult to get in and find a parking spot for your car without some level of difficulty. While this is not really the restaurants fault as it is part of the larger strip mall it is a downside about this location. One final note about the physical location is the size of the restaurant is small compared to other locations I have visited so it can make finding a seat a little difficult. One of the nice things about this chain is the consistency they provide. You always know what you are going to get and I have always been happy with what I have received. I’ve never had any differences in menu items amongst locations. The salads are always very good and healthy. They also offer rice bowls that are tasty and offer a good variety to choose from. You can even substitute the rice for noodles. Overall this is a good place to get a quick bite to eat and have the food be reasonably healthy especially if you get sick of burgers and fries.
