My boyfriend and I have ate here twice. Both times we were beyond pleasantly surprised. I got the Korean Bbq Banh Mi with tempura sweet potatoes and a delicious aioli sauce for dipping. My boyfriend got a delicious phở on our first visit and a pork egg roll vermicelli salad the second time. Everything tastes so fresh, comes out fresh and hot. The flavor are bright and refreshing and the cleanliness of the restaurant is amazing! We also shared a mango coconut boba drink that is the best boba drink I have tasted. We have had fast and friendly service each time as well. Definitely on its way to becoming our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I’m puzzled by the negative reviews as we have had phở and Banh Mi’s all over town and this place out shines them by far!

Good phở, good service. Works for us for a quick, consistent warm and cozy meal. Love the add ins to the phở and we always have leftovers. Only complaint is both times we have been here, it was really stinky(like old wet rags) back towards the restrooms, which is also the area of the kitchen :/

With an enticing and thorough menu, the restaurant unfortunately fell short of my expectations in terms of the food and service. We arrived on a Saturday night during peak hours, but surprisingly there was only one other party ahead of us waiting for a table. However, there were two booths in the back that were CLEARLY available. Rather then seat us there when we were the only parties waiting for a table, they made us wait until parties left and tables were cleared without giving us any explanation or apologies. I mean, if you’re going to reserve booths for«special guests» or customers with preferential treatment, at least do it in a less obvious way. Geez. And apparently, the employees don’t know how to read. My friend specifically asked the server not to put cilantro in her phở, and what do you know? Out comes the phở with cilantro all over the broth. But not only that, after they took it back and brought it out, you could clearly see their halfhearted attempt to just spoon out the cilantro because there was definitely still cilantro in her bowl that my friend had to remove herself. When the check came out, the receipt read«NOCILANTRO» in capital letters by her entrée so clearly this was missed by everyone involved in the serving process. The set up of the restaurant is also not ideal because it’s a mix of community seating(sharing a long table), regular tables, and just two booths. It just makes for a confusing and unorganized atmosphere. I will, however, give them points for the flavorful broth. I also appreciate how they include vegetarian and vegan options, and allow you to add items to your phở(while I wouldn’t pay for additional toppings, it’s a nice option for those who would). They also serve brunch, which I would be interested in trying, but hesitant to do so after our experience with their service. If you have a happy-go-lucky attitude and are down to pay more for non-traditional Vietnamese cuisine, give it a shot. Hopefully your experience goes better than mine!

This place is good, and almost great, but misses the mark on a few things. I ordered a Bahn Mi with a spicy asian style meat, sweet potato fries, and an appetizer of chili lime wings to split. The food came out fairly quickly and I was ready to eat. I’ll split my review up a little below. Fries — really, really good. I loved what they were battered in. The sauce was like a fry sauce but better than your normal fry sauce. 5⁄5 Sandwich — Spicy meat was perfect. The bread was also pretty good, as well as the other toppings. Basically your typical Bahn Mi, but with some killer meat. The spiciness was just perfect, not too hot, but hot enough that you felt it and might think about sweating. Large sized, and a little hard to eat as it was so big and each bite seemed to have a never ending supply of meat coming from it. 4⁄5 Chili Lime Wings — Disappointing. Honestly tasted like something from a Costco freezer bag. Decent enough if I was eating at home on the cheap, but not what I expected for here. The breading was a little soggy as well, which is never good. Hints of greatness, but very rare. 2⁄5 Service — The place was packed, which was surprising for when we came in around 7:30. We were seated at a large table with other parties on it. This was fine as the table was large enough to not really feel like we were part of other parties. Service was fast at first, but completely disappeared towards the end. After a long wait I finally decided to just get up and grab a waiter to get me a to go box and the check. 3⁄5 Overall it was a great meal, I’ll skip the appetizers next time as I was full just off the sandwich and fries. $ 10.50 for my sandwich and fries seemed like a good deal, plus tip. I’ll come back in the future when I’m in the area and in the mood for some Bahn Mi or Phở.

It’s was ok, nothing special. A little over priced too. I also didn’t like that the take out menu is only half of what they serve. Won’t be going back.

I had the brisket phở and it was great. Like other reviewers said, the broth was solid. Each brisket piece was excellent and tender. Serving size was large, $ 8.00, and good service, I’ll be going back. There was a wait at 12:30 for a table. It was pretty empty when we got there at noon.

I thought their phở was decent — but not the best I’ve ever had. It’s also overpriced — I think I paid $ 12 – 13. I would come back if they lowered their prices.

The phở was the worst I’ve ever had. I can make better out of the can I buy from the Asian mart. Service sucked too. We will not be back.

We drove by Phở Thin on a Sunday(big bonus) found it open and gave it a try. Really pleased with everything we found. Clean and modern and again open on a Sunday in SLC. The phở was good and what set it apart from most others was the rich beef broth. Not too salty or strong. We also had the brisket banh mi and would say that it was the best I have had. Great bread, well prepared meat and condiments and a really fresh slaw. Service was a bit slow and it is not your least expensive choice either but it gets five stars because this place is about the food.

I came here with a group of friends who just love the place but I really didn’t see what all the hype was about. We arrived for lunch on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm(props for being open on Sunday!) and the place was packed but we were quickly seated. After that, service was slow and almost non-existent(empty drink glasses, no one to check on our order, etc). The other three in my party ordered the same thing– beef phở in the southern style(with sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapeño on the side) but what came out for all three dishes was phở in the northern style with the onions and vinegar already added plus the side of southern extras; the one person who had been here before was the only one who caught the mistake but by that time it was too late(and again, service was non-existent by then). Needless to say, the vinegar and the lime flavors kind of clashed. Personally, I am not a soup person so I ordered the Shanghai noodles with chicken. It was an ok dish but nothing I would order again, it was just too bland. It needed garlic or ginger or something… I just ended up putting a bunch of siracha on it(not by first choice but it was better than nothing). I tasted the beef phở and wasn’t impressed; maybe it is just that I am not that into soup but the broth seemed very thin to me. I almost ordered a Bahn Mi sandwich but I am glad I did not because when I looked around the restaurant I saw several half eaten sandwiches on plates after people had left. I guess they did were not a hit either.

We have eaten at Phở Thin multiple times and have always been happy with the quality and taste of food. However, the last few times we have gotten the phở they have shorted us on the broth. This is just both rediculous and frustrating since broth is the cheapest ingredient and the most important. I’m not happy about it and will be letting management know. It’s a simple issue to fix but one that matters to us consumers.

Best phở I’ve had in SLC! Definitely order the dough sticks and coconut boba.

I like the phở & sandwiches. The sandwiches are more expensive, but they come with a *usually* generous helping of tempura sweet potatoes which are delicious. Servers are busy & I have had very slow service here before. There are a few servers I always hope to have. Elisa is the most attentive and there are a few other servers who I can count on. Other servers have disappeared into the back for long periods of time when I want to pay the bill. If service was better, they would get 5 stars. Also if sandwiches were cut in half on request when sharing.

Let just say that I have a very specific taste of Asian food since I grew up in Asia and lived in LA for a long time… Since I moved to Salt Lake, every asian restaurant has been nothing but disappointment. Until I went to phở thin! This is the first Asian that I really enjoy in Salt Lake. They certainly offer the real taste of Asian food. If you are tired of those fake American version asian food, give phở thin a try! I’m truly happy that I have found a place I like :)

Excellent food, great prices, and decent service. The good: I came here with a friend after watching a movie at the nearby theater. It’s within close walking distance from a lot of great spots in Salt Lake. The sandwiches are amazing! We ordered the Korean barbecue and chicken hoisin sandwiches and split them both. They are rich with flavor, crispy vegetables, and are served on thick quality bread. The french fries were also very tasty. It seems like they have been fried a tempura batter. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was very nice with dim lighting and pleasant music. The not so good: even though we liked our servers, our food took about 25 minutes to get to our table. If it weren’t for this small detail I would have given them a full five star rating.

Came back once again, really love their Phở! Their meat is so perfectly tender and juicy. Service is great. Only complaint is that they still crank the A/C which makes it very cold inside.

Nice to have a Vietnamese restaurant here in Sugarhood… too bad it’s not as good as other places. The more and more I go, the worse it gets. It’s a little overpriced,(that’s to be expected in Sugarhouse) and parking sucks for others; I live at TheVue, so it’s easy to hop down here for dinner. They got rid of the traditional banh mi sandwhich too, my favorite. It’s also like a refrigerator inside. why is the air conditioning so cold?! There’s only one good server there too; the rest of them have left a bad taste in my mouth, literally. I got the wrong order a couple of times, and sometimes it takes too long. I’m not a phở snob, like some hipsters claim to be, but the phở is alright. I honestly want to like this place since I live near it, but now I go out of my way to better places like Mi La Cai, Oh Mai and other better Vietnamese places :(

I got take out and normally I wouldn’t give 5 stars without actually dining in the place and experiencing the full restaurant, but what I saw there when I picked up my food definitely deserves 5 stars. Let’s start with the food. I got the beef phở and it was AWESOME! The broth was super tasty and ingredients were very fresh. It was well plated in a nice to-go box. Made it easy for me at home. Looked more like nice tupperware rather than those cheap styrofoam boxes. As soon as I got there to pick up my order(which was prompt and on time), I noticed the nice atmosphere. I was expecting some cheap asian hole in the wall, but it was quite hip and modern. Besides the décor, there’s a couple of things that earned this review 5 stars. The man that greeted me was super friendly. I asked him if he could add a drink to my order because I forgot to mention it over the phone and he comped the drink, no charge! As I was waiting to be rung up, a group of 4 women walked in. It was 9:40pm(they close at 10) and they asked if they could be seated or if it was too late. The guy immediately made them feel welcome, even joked with them about getting take-out instead of sitting down, and said it’s absolutely no problem! I felt like they went out of their way to make sure their customers are happy and I will definitely be back!

The staff at this location are extremely nice. They went the extra mile to make this customer happy I wanted orange sweet potato fries and I got yellow ones and so they made me a new plate of orange one. My Korean BBQ sandwich is off of the charts amazing…

Stopped in here for a quick dinner with a friend from out-of-town — it’s nice to have a little bit of ethnic cuisine in the otherwise pub-and-pizzeria-dominated Sugarhouse downtown. The menu is broad, with a lot of options other than phở, but phở is what I wanted that cold night. The layout of the menu seemed a little confusing if you’ve never ordered phở before — even though I had, I was a little overwhelmed by all the toppings and«special» phos to choose from and had to ask the waiter for instruction. Because I’m expecting a baby, I couldn’t get the traditional raw flank steak(sliced very thin, it cooks in the hot broth) so I ordered the meatball version. Disappointing. The broth, noodles, and the toppings were fresh and very tasty, but wished there were a bit more noodles and broth — giant portion size is one of the expectations of good phở. The meatball flavor was just yuck — I’m never one to leave food on my plate, but I ate all the noodles and drank the broth and left the meatballs. My friend was craving banh mi(Vietnamese sandwich) but they didn’t have any vegetarian ones(a little disappointing.) She ordered an eggplant stir-fry(one of the only other options for her) but didn’t want the eggplant — the server said the kitchen couldn’t substitute tofu or something else, which seemed strange and unaccommodating. Service was good but nothing special; the ambiance is a little confused because it seems like a pretty casual joint with a counter up front(where maybe you order takeout or lunch?), but has finer-dining prices and table service. The lighting was nice and dimmed, but the chairs were hard and uncomfortable and the tables pretty close together. Only 2 – 3 booths. It was busy when we went on a weeknight so seems pretty popular with this Westside crowd. I’d like to try the flank steak phở next time but am not sure I will be back if I have to pay the tab next time.
