Dream Gymnastics Academy is, not to sound cliché, a dream! The facility just opened in August of 2015, meaning all of the equipment is brand new and state-of-the-art. I am a former competitive gymnast from Ohio who has been going through gymnastics withdrawals for the past 12 years since my days of participating in/helping coach classes at BYU during college. Dream gymnastics was an answer to my withdrawals with their adult tumbling class, yet I knew that wouldn’t be enough. I talked with the marvelous Joy and Charity and we all decided it was time for me to dust off my nearly 10 years of coaching skills and become a coach with Dream. My «dream» is to share the love of gymnastics I have with gymnasts young or not-as-young. Gymnastics absolutely 1,000% changed my life. I was a reserved, unconfident, less-than-healthy 11-year old when I decided to give it a try. Long story short, I became a competitive gymnast, continued taking classes(but not competing) through college, and continue to this day to use my skills in Salt Lake area theater performances or in choreography. I became a confident performer and a physically healthy & fit person who continues to hit up the gym 6 times a week. Speaking of the gym — the location of Dream doesn’t get any better than right next door to VASA fitness. Mom’s and Dad’s interested in fitness can workout while their children can change their lives with gymnastics at Dream. The staff at Dream is great with children of all ages and the schedule is full of variety and skill levels. They have goal lists for skills so the gymnasts constantly feel as if they are advancing. With multiple classes running at the same time, the younger/beginning gymnasts watch the more advanced ones with awe and inspiration, while the advanced gymnasts love to help share their passion. The coaches dedicate individual time to each gymnast in the class. Private lessons are available if desired. There is a time to have fun and there is a time to work hard. At Dream, they try to combine the two. After two months coaching here, I feel part of a growing family of the team of coaches and the team of gymnasts.
