A typical Home Depot experience– employees were around when needed. Check out lines were short and quick.

We recently moved to the area and bought a house, so naturally the home improvement store is now our 2nd home. I worked for The Home Depot for over 8 years before becoming a stay at home mom. Maybe I have higher expectations of their employees for this reason but so far, I have not been impressed. The cashier’s are very slow and usually not eager to check you out. I typically head for the self check out since the cashiers aren’t exactly begging for customers. Cashiers also do not offer to get you loading assistance. I recently bought 20 bags of soil in the garden area and she didn’t even offer to get someone to help me load, I actually asked her if I should just pull up and load up from the stack out front. Lucky for them I’m honest and only took what I paid for… no one bothered to check… not even the 2 guys that came out and stood around the grills talking, while I slung bags of soil in my vehicle. Most of the associates don’t say hello, let alone ask if they can help. I have wandered up and down aisles looking for people before… thank goodness my prior experience gives me most of the info I need. This store appears to be super slow volume… and even still the associates are lacking in all aspects of customer service. I see much more business going to Lowe’s across the street and even the Seaford location 20 minutes away in DE. The potential for greater success is there but the management is dropping the ball in this store.
