Stopped while going and coming to and from Norfolk and both times had great food. The srevice is great, the people friendly and the food all freshly prepared with locally grown ingredients. In the middle of chicken country, the fried chicken is excellent and the country breakfast like it was made in the farmhouse. Very good and highly recommended while travelling on US13…

Cheap diner style eats for old people is the business model. Decent breakfast but anything more complex is a dice roll. Senior citizen central. You get what you pay for.

I’m not sure what are with all the negative reviews. Sage Diner is what you can expect from classic Americana diners. They offer a large variety of foods that will have at least one thing to appeal to you. As well, all the food is very fairly priced and some of the better service in the area. Been coming here for a few years now and definitely will continue to.

Décor/ambiance(1⁄5) — There is a strange musk which practically slaps you in the face once you walk in. You’re greeted by a dessert rack with cakes which look like they’ve been sitting there for two + days. The décor probably hasn’t been updated since 1978. All of the patrons are senior citizens. Food — Greek salad(1.5÷5) — The Greek salad was pretty typical, however it was 50% feta cheese, 50% actual vegetable. Shrimp salad sandwich(1⁄5) — The shrimp salad is not your typical Maryland recipe, as the shrimps are practically microscopic compared to the big, juicy morsels as is typical. I had ordered it inside a pita, which contained the salad, a soggy tomato slice, and rubbery, straight out of the package Swiss cheese.

If I could give zero stars I could. This place has the most mediocre menu. Super cheap and piss poor quality. The waitress is absolutely stupid. I ordered a small Greek salad that comes with soup for $ 5.99 and the waitress kept interjecting with, «Oh, it’s on special today for $ 5.99, its cheaper.. How is the same price cheaper? Learn to add salt to your soup. Sheesh. I’m a local. And this is terrible. Only here for my 82 year old grandmothers birthday.

Have eaten here many times but after today’s experience I won’t be going back. We ordered breakfast and eggs were not Cooked all the way so I sent them back and they cooked them some more, but eggs had a hair cooked directly into them this time. They made me a fresh plate this time but by now I had lost my appetite, but I was charged full price for our food. I will never go back to this restaurant.

This place is just ok. I really didn’t care for the food I ordered. I ordered dumplings that were so slippery I had to eat them with a fork and spoon so they wouldn’t slide off. They did a have a good taste, but they were hard to enjoy… I felt like I was in a food fight and the dumplings won! I also got some«fresh» oysters. Well being from the Eastern Shore where the seafood capital is, these oysters were far from fresh… they were frozen and cooked and sold like they were fresh. Talk about false advertisement and getting your hopes up for nothing. The potato salad was tasteless and I ended up sending that back for greens… which weren’t too bad. I mean dang… at least one thing had to be good… IJS. My husband said that his food was okay. But he didn’t sound too convincing. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. So that earned them two stars. For the locals they seem to enjoy it… Including my parents… It’s just not good to me. Now my parents who are from the area loved the place… shoot they recommended it to be… bet I won’t listen to them again. So anyway… it was just a typical diner with not so typical food. But to each his own…

I wouldn’t call this place a greasy spoon, or even a diner really. It has the feel of a small town family restaurant, complete with ads permanently on the tops of the tables. My husband and I went here for breakfast, and the entire experience was«meh». They do a great job at getting people in and out, the food came out fast, and the server was very attentive. That being said, the food was very bland. My home fries and eggs were under seasoned and didn’t taste as though nary a grain of salt had touched them. Perhaps this is desirable to their sodium restricted elderly clientele, but left my breakfast lacking in taste. All in all, it was fine and more reasonable than going to one of the chain breakfast joints. We will probably try it again.

We ate at 11:30am and were offered either the lunch or breakfast menus, and took both. Some at our party ordered breakfast and I ordered off the lunch menu. The staff were great. Fast, friendly service! The food was delicious and it was very reasonably priced. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because my French fries were not fresh. Otherwise everything was great.

Had the Tuna wrap and it was horrible. Worst Tuna I’ve ever had and and it was not blended at all. Only tomato and lettuce and the tomatoes were too early and lettuce might’ve been ok. Water cups looked like they came from a dollhouse and tasted/smelled like toilet water. My wrap was around 10 dollars and that is way overpriced for the quality. Advertisements cover the ENTIRE table too. Not worth.

We were on vacation in Southern MD and were exploring the area and trying out places, possibly looking to move there. One morning for breakfast, we thought we’d try this place. The food was sub-par, the waitress was almost immediately apologetic as we sat down, and her service was more attentive than we thought possible, probably to make up for the awful food. Guess that sums it up.

Eggs Benedict– hard boiled poached eggs, spam like Canadian bacon– tasteless hollandaise. Tacky ads on the tabletop. This place gives diners a bad name. Extra star for quick friendly waitress.

Sub par Dinner waitress was ok but the reception and food sad The water tastes off likely just not filtered prices are ok portions typical hate to say it but you do better at a Denny’s Locals tell me it’s better on Sundays when they get a church crowd to me a dinner has to do the basic like eggs right over easy should not be runny Pancakes need to fluffy and and not dark brown The prime rib my son got was fatty and over cooked and The best was a grill chicken salad my daughter got The toast was never even delivered

The Sage Diner was recommended to me by a local I trust. OOPS! It was a one of a kind place where many of the waitresses had tattoos and missing teeth. That’s OK if the food is good, but this wasn’t that kind of place. My «blueberry pancakes» came not with blueberries inside, but rather with a scoop of blueberry goo(like pie filling) on top. The scrambled eggs tasted like the butter-substitute they used on the grill. The service was slow, and got far slower after the church crowd arrived(I’m glad I didn’t have to wait through that). You’d do better going to the major national 24-hour chain famous for it’s breakfast … and believe me, I’m not a fan of that place either.

Good breakfast food. Many of their lunch items are tasty as well. Service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is clean. Very busy for breakfast, especially on the weekends. Rating against other diners I’ve been to, Sage gets a solid 4 stars.

Went to go see Salisbury University with my sister and decided to have a quick bite. The parking lot was completely empty at lunch time. The food was alright; I ordered the calamari basket and got clam strips instead — wasn’t in the mood to argue though. The price was right for what you got. And the service was good, as the waitress checked on us several times and refilled our water glasses regularly.

Has vegan friendly options, you just need to tweak them a little. They also sell a veggie burger, but I didn’t see that when I went in with family, so I couldn’t ask. Sadly, they sell things like veal, but if you’re dragged on an outing to a «family diner» this one HAS vegan options, so if you have any say, insist here.

This place is great if you’re short on cash, and starving first thing in the morning. They offer a $ 2.99 breakfast that always hits the spot. The only reason for the lack of stars is the service. If you’re in a hurry, then avoid this place. However, I have good memories of outstanding conversation and a full tummy! I suggest you try it for yourself!

$ 9.71 for breakfast including coffee and tip. Expectations are pretty low for this genre of dining: the«breakfast place». Truth be told, Sage Diner serves lunch and dinner but the parking lot is almost always full at breakfast time and less so otherwise. Booths, 4-top tables and a counter are available for seating. I always ask for a booth. Service is rushed so be ready to order when your white-haired waitress scoots by. Today I ordered the pancakes, scrapple and coffee. For those of you not from the mid-Atlantic region Scrapple is the low-rent cousin of Spam. The closest thing I have ever had to Scrapple is Haggis in Scotland. The three large hotcakes were presented hot as was the scrapple. Faux maple syrup and faux butter were served with the hot cakes. The coffee(endless cup) was hot but not as robust and bitter as I prefer. Sage Diner is pretty much your large serving, low priced diner-sort-of place. Do not come here if you are looking for fine dining as you’ll be disappointed. If you are hungry and looking for a low-priced place to fill up on decently prepared food then you’ll be glad you stopped in.
