I love going to Pats Diner. The food is pretty good & you feel like family when you walk through the door.

We pass by the place almost every day and I said, We need to try that. It’s right in the downtown area of Salisbury, if you can call it that, so it’s convenient and right on the main drag. No detours to worry about. Early morning breakfast before the crowd was the order of the day. This is a classic dining car type of diner. Everything appears to be original, from the stools at the counter to the tile floor to the ceiling panels to the window frames, and everything in between. For many of us the thought of this type of diner equals greasy. Hence, the greasy spoon. Not here. There was nothing greasy about the fare whatsoever. My omelet was folded into a near perfect rectangle and garnished with veggies. Inside, a nice gooey helping of cheese. I’m not usually about that but this was an awesome exception. Home fries and rye toast rounded things out nicely. Coffee was good with actual half and half. None of that fake chemical laden coffee creamer here. Most of what was here was spot on and we loved it. The service could have been better only because she wasn’t very friendly. It makes me wonder if everyone here is related to Pat. When we tried to be bright and cheery her attitude was like, yeah, whatever. I noticed an elderly lady in the front who appeared to be doing paperwork and I wondered if it was Pat. So, after our breakfast I decided to chat her up at the register. Indeed, it was Pat and she was so friendly and adorable. I asked her why she decided to sell it and she looked at me and said, How old do you think I am. I replied with, Oh no, I am not going there. She chuckled and then told me she was 85 and«tired». I can appreciate that. If you want to experience Pat’s while Pat still has it, you better hurry. Who knows what could happen once it’s sold.

Good food staff is nice food comes out quickly ! Just really small place but it’s charming in its own pay ! Some things are over priced ! They have Jukeboxes every table but they don’t play at least take them out or have them replaced because that is a wonderful thing to have and such a diner! Take the time to fix it or get rid of it! Staff could smile more !

I am VERY picky about my breakfast food. I’ve tried them ALL! There are only two places that I enjoy, Pat’s Diner being one of them! I just moved close by so I see myself going there a lot more often. Prices are fair, portions are good. BEST hollandaise sauce I have ever had. No exaggeration. And the waitress I had last time was wonderful. I wish I could remember her name and refer her. I highly recommend. There’s a reason they have been in business for as long as I can remember.

Classic diner. Best eggs benedict I ever had. And I get eggs benedict at pretty much every diner I go to.

We went here on a recommendation from a friend. Corned beef hash was canned, omelet was made from those liquid eggs, biscuits were from a package. The only thing really good were the home fries. Staff was friendly and place was clean. Food quality was poor.

Pat’s Diner is an awesome blend of nostalgia and great food. Jukeboxes have oldies and current favorites. Everything is handmade and hand-touched. The food is fresh and fast and delicious. The staff is super sweet and attentive. Worth stopping at this unassuming little spot.

We have driven past Pats for years but never again. Six of us went this AM and no one ordered from the menu because the specials were so outrageously creative. Four of us had the pork pie with eggs etc. It was a huge portion, delicately flavored, a thin crust to complement the 3 inch thick pork filling. Pork was tender and oh so delicious. Just order it .you will not be disappointed. One ordered breakfast casserole. .several meats cheeses eggs in a quiche like preparation. .again huge. One ordered eggs benedict which he loved but tasted the pork pie and is sold on that for next time. We missed the apple crisp french toast. .next time. There will be a next time. Pat was charming and obviously her staff like working there as they were all friendly and efficient.

I love eating breakfast here! Enormous pancakes! Great service with a smile even early in the morning, and the authentic diner feel. Had a number of dishes here and all were great. Wish they had fresh squeezed OJ… but I can live with bottled when the pancakes are soooo good! Thanks for making my breakfasts so fun while on vaca.

CASHONLY — Don’t expect to pay with plastic, as they do not accept. Pat’s Diner is a tiny little hole in the wall in downtown Salisbury. The off street parking lot can get crowded depending on the number of people who are at the restaurant. A full parking lot is not an indication of this place being a great one either. Upon entry, choices for seating are limited because the interior is very small. We were placed on the far right side at the pub, directly at the entry way where the girls go in and out of the kitchen. With the traffic back and forth in this area, we were constantly interrupted and asked to move our bodies in several times so the girls could get by the cramped area. That made for an unpleasant experience. We were here once in 2013 and won’t return. At that time, the owner had a discussion with us and a few others that she intended to sell the property. Since then, the discussions continue. When an owner talks about selling, it generally results with lack of updating the restaurant or exterior maintenance of the premises. The interior is certainly antiquated and outdated, but so is the diner. This is NOT a place for groups or kids, as it is very tight and very loud. When we were there, a family had their kids running about and screaming. That made the place less enjoyable and Pat was laughing at the kids, rather than addressing the parents to quiet the kids down — stop disturbing the other customers and control your children please. I don’t expect we will return to this place as we did not have a pleasant experience here. The food wasn’t very good either.

Best Breakfast of my Life! I love this place. Pat is great, she’s always there and so friendly. The wait staff is so nice, they really get to know the regulars which I quickly became. The home fries are to die for, the hash browns are also good, but def go home fries. My boyfriend won’t get anything other than his breakfast sandwich, I love the french toast. My boyfriend likes the coffee so much he gets a cup to go when we are leaving. There are never left overs and I always leave beyond full(of food and money). The prices are great. The diner itself is so cute with things to look at everywhere. They have an old juke box in the back, not sure if it works but def fun to look at. The booths are a good size and there is plenty of seating at the breakfast counter. I live in an area with a ton of breakfast places but I just can’t stop going to Pat’s!

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place while checking Unilocal for breakfast establishments in Salisbury. from the outside it didn’t look like the type of place I’d usually go for, but inside, I was pleasantly surprised at how cozy it actually was. in a retro. ol’ school kinda way. Breakfast was delicious… the omelets were huge and really well made. the bacon was crispy, and I was able to get french fries instead of home fries, which I thought was very accommodating. We also split a jumbo size order of french toast which was also really good. I should also mention that I’m a very a fussy eater, so for me to give a 5 star rating. it’s got to be outstanding. Would definitely recommend trying Pats!

The diner is beautiful with polished wood arches, and vintage refrigerators. The service is also fine. Unfortunately, the food did not reach those levels. My Mexican omelet was odd, in that it had hamburger in it, like a beef burrito with egg around it. My girlfriends artichoke omelet was largely devoid of taste. The coffee was adequate and the home fries were above average. It wasn’t very expensive, so the value was about right, however.

My boyfriend and I were on our way home from camping for Labor Day weekend up in New Durham, NH, and wanted to grab breakfast on our way back to Providence. The weather was not in our favor, so we had broken camp and bugged out of NH pretty early, so after dealing with an hour of torrential rain, we decided to grab a meal just over the MA border. Most of our options in the area were fast food, so I ran a search on my phone for a diner, and found Pat’s in Salisbury 10 minutes away from where we exited the highway in Newburyport. We were NOT disappointed with this choice. The omelettes were fantastic, and named after local towns(I got the Seabrook, he got the Isle of Shoals.) The portions were great, and the boy really enjoyed his home fries while I had a side of sausage to accommodate my low-carb diet. It was just what we needed to get ourselves out of the car for an hour and fill our damp, camp tired tummies up for the rest of the journey home. Pat was working with her staff, and was extremely friendly and conversational. When my boyfriend ran to get cash from the ATM next door, she let me sit with her behind the cashier stand to keep her company so I wouldn’t have to stand and wait in the narrow lane between the counter. The diner itself was built in the 50’s and has most of the original fixtures intact. Our architectural and history nerd selves had a field day just glancing around. This was a great stop-over for us, and if we’re ever in the area again at breakfast or lunch time, we’ll definitely go back.

Stopped in here on a sleepless Monday morning«Labor Day». I think I was pretty much first customer in here at 5:15AM. Good conversation with the«owner?» an one of the cooks who was eating his breakfast. Hash Omlet, wheat toast, hasbrowns(could have been cooked a little crispier) but the flavoring was great. Good Coffee… Glad I found this place by accident. I will be back. Thank you !~ John

Let me start off by saying the food here is the best diner food around. The potatoes are seasoned perfectly. However if you consider your appearances to be a bit different from the Salisbury«norm» you may want to eat elsewhere to avoid ridicule. I was a new frequent Pat’s diner fan however my last visit ruined it for me. In the middle of our breakfast the owner. Pat herself, marches up to my table and starts manhandling me(i am a petite woman) inspecting my tattoos and grunting all the while awkwardly turning over my limbs. After throwing my arm out of her hand, she slapped my arm(not jokingly) and yelled BADGIRL! The owner of a restaurant slapped my arm mid meal, no warning, no introduction, no hi how are you. FWAK! Slapped in the arm. I just stared at her, astonished. We all did. It came out of no where. No one said anything, no one thought it was funny. She was quick to silently slink away back to her post by the door and had nothing to say as we left the diner. We will not be back. Seasoned potatoes are not worth being harassed while trying to enjoy them. I suggest the Agawam Diner in Rowley on the Newburyport turnpike. They are always happy to see you.

My family and I go here pretty much every other weekend for breakfast. It’s a wonderful little spot. Pat, the owner, is a sweet old woman who runs the place and is there every time we go. The wait staff is super friendly when you consider this is Massachusetts. Seating can be tricky past 9:00am on weekends, so I’d recommend getting there early. I only get omelettes, but they’re really good. They don’t skimp whatsoever on the toppings, of which there is a good selection, including some delicious kielbasa. My wife and son split the«big beach special». The place is super cheap, with omelettes around $ 7. The interior is, well, a diner!

*Note that they are cash only. I came here in a group of 5 about a half-hour before their closing time on a Saturday(we weren’t aware of the hours), with all 5 of us ordering full breakfast plates. Despite the obvious inconvenience to them, the staff was unfailingly courteous and polite, which I was very appreciative of and demonstrated a very professional customer service ethic. We all ordered various omelet combos(I highly recommend whichever one comes with broccoli inside) which were accompanied by solid toast and home fries. To be honest I was too hungry to really pay much attention to the finer points of taste and refinement as we had all just spent 2 hours getting hazed at Salisbury Beach, but several people in the group remarked positively on the quality and composition of the omelets in particular. All I can really say is that if you want a truly massive breakfast, this place will rise to the challenge. The portion sizes crammed onto each plate would have made a brontosaurus blush. God bless America.
