I was a member of the Saline Jazzercise, I requested to cancel my membership by phone due to personal reasons just a few months in my contract in 2013, but was told I was locked into a 1 yr. contract until March 2014, even though I could not use it. I talked to the owner Joy Bucher on more than one occasion and she was aware I wanted to cancel and knew I would certainly not be renewing my membership. The company not only continued to charge me another $ 613 beyond my 1 yr. membership! but Joy increased the month fee from $ 45 to $ 49 in Nov. 2014(8 months after my 1yr membership expired). How can a business owner not monitor a clients activity? Or document important phone conversations with their clients? I was charged $ 1,000 for a membership I was unable to use. When I contacted Joy to request those charges be refunded, she said, «you signed a contract and needed to read it, and cancellations need to be in writing». I agree I should be responsible for the contract of 1 yr. even though I could not use the membership, but for a company to automatically renew an «inactive customer» is just wrong!
