Curtiss Park is on the south side of US-12, across the street from Mill Pond and Mill Pond Park to the north. When the spring thaw comes, the ground and paved trails at Curtiss Park can get soupy, so if you’re heading there in the spring, prepare by wearing shoes that can withstand the mud! There is a parking lot just off the road, near a TALL slide. My dog once followed me up the ladder and down the slide. Not for small children. There are slides and jungle gym equipment at another area that are better suited to small children and clandestine agility practice with the dog. Cross the wooden bridge to go find those. Like to play tennis? There is a pair of tennis courts. I’ve never seen anyone playing there. Why not go give it a try? Also across the bridge, there is a lot of open space for frisbee and picnics, and a picnic shelter. Keep going and there is an observation deck that overhangs the river, in case you want to get a closer look at the water. You might see water fowl, doing their thing along the shore. Watch out for goose poo. Curtiss Park is sandwiched between Oakwood Cemetery on the east and Weller’s Carriage House on the west. The park kind of bleeds onto the grounds of Weller’s, the site of weddings and other formal events. If you see a gazebo, turn around and head the other way, back to the park. Hint: Park at Curtiss Park, walk through the park and up the hill to US-12, head just a little west on the sidewalk to Mickey’s Dairy Twist, then walk back to the park while you finish your treat.

Curtiss park is a cute park filled with swings and a few other playground items. There’s also a baseball field towards the back of the park, as well as a small trail. I love that Michigan has sooo many trails and breathtaking sights to see. I’m so happy I stumbled across this park. I’m definitely coming back here for sure!
