Great lunch spot in Salinas. It gets busy for lunch but the service is fast. The Fava bean salad was awesome. The beans were so tender and seasoned well. It was fresh and delicious. The clam chowder had big chucks of clams and was fresh. The place is huge with lots of table and a patio.

Short and simple. Food was fresh, staff is friendly, my 3 yr old ate her entire plate of crispy bacon and eggs. Plus fresh baked cookies and my Mom’s favorite, bread pudding. We all left happy, well be back next time in town.

Great food, hot and fresh coffee and fantastic customer service. It’s all you really need after being rained out of your campsite! We would come back a hundred times. Loved it.

Very friendly staff. Great food. I love it especially on warm, sunny days when we can sit on the patio. Has a very European flair, which is why I like it.

There are some delish side choices to choose from. My son always chooses the asian cabbage salad and I always get the fruit salad. A great variety of yummy desserts, also. Always love a place that has wifi too!

Really busy at lunch time, but worth it. Something for everyone, burgers, sandwiches, salads, lasagna and more. Even vegan food! Fast service with a smile.

My husband and I love coming here. Our absolute favorite salad is the Asian cabbage. Best salad ever! The tuna melt and tritip sandwiches are the best! Definitely a must to go here

Looking for a spot for breakfast? Well look no further! Portobello’s serves breakfast all day on the weekends. I recommend the 222 breakfast with two eggs, your choice of two pancakes or two french toast, and two bacon strips or sausage links. The breakfast burrito is amazing too. Don’t forget the«specials» board with cool stuff popping up all the time. If you come, ask to sit in Izzy’s area and be wowed by some of the best serving in the area! He keeps your drinks full and the laughs coming. All in all, this is one of the hidden gems of Salinas.

Stopped in here for a quick dinner about an hour before closing. Had the portobello and eggplant sandwiches, pesto pasta, and vegetable salad. Food is good, prices are reasonable, and the service was outstanding. Our waitress worked her butt off and was very attentive. Would return next time were in Salinas. Lots of variety, great looking deli salads and deserts.

Easy, fresh, no frills. Came here for lunch with coworkers. I got the half roasted chicken with side salad. The chicken was well seasoned and grilled well. The arugula salad was my favorite, tossed with a very tasty dressing and roasted pine nuts. There is an outdoor patio seating area with umbrellas, very nice to eat outside on a nice sunny day. It’s cafeteria style, so you order, pay and then seat yourself.

This place is located in the same building as Zef’s which sells wine on one side and portobello’s on the other. We had the brioche French toast. It was better than average. I would have like more vanilla or spices. My daughter enjoyed the blueberry pancakes. My husband had the avocado burger. It was a little bland but the Cesar salad was good. They have a nice outdoor area to sit and eat.

Worst service ever. Walked in and the waitress told us to take a seat, I said we’d be out on the patio and didn’t see the waitress again until I walked back inside and grabbed menus myself. On ordering the waitress didn’t write anything down, this is a pet peeve of mine since inevitably that means the order will be screwed up. Sure enough, the order was screwed up. When our food came out we only got one set of utensils, I had to walk back inside to get another set. I had the portobello sandwich, which was fine. The corn and black bean side salad was terrible however, the corn was tasteless and starchy. The outdoor patio was a pleasant spot to hang and clearly(judging by the other patrons) it’s popular with Salinas locals, perhaps only because they don’t have any better options?
