The food was pretty good. I ordered the chicken chowmein and orange chicken. Orange chicken was nicely battered. The only sad part was it was overpriced.

The quality of the dim sum I had before was not as good when I came and ate there today. The shrimp dumplings look so sloppy and the pork dumplings are so bland that I need to actually put more soy sauce than usual. The front house staff are ok with their friendliness but got over exaggerated they even asked me 3 times how is everything and asked 2 times if they can get my plate even though there’s 2 – 3 more dumplings left which really disturbed my lunch time. And when I walked out the door they did not even said thank you for visiting their place. I studied, worked, and trained for the restaurant industry for 7 years. They need to be more observant and they need more training. Even though I had a bad service today, I look forward on visiting again and to see improvements on this restaurant.

Came in just for a dim sum snack so only 4 stars until I come back to try the rest of the menu. I got the Shanghai style pork dumplings and the veggie spring rolls. Both were delicious. The meat in the pork dumplings was surprisingly flavorful with a hint of ginger and pepper. The spring rolls had fresh veggies and were fried perfectly and not greasy at all. Can’t wait to come back and try other things. Yes they are a little pricey but I’ll pay extra for excellent food.

A newly opened place in Salinas, CA close to North Ridge Mall has opened to serve a tremendous assortment of Dim Sum daily at all hours. Select your dumplings from a photographed menu, sip on jasmine tea, and wait to be served your delightful and delicious morsels. The quality of the dim sum is excellent and service is efficient. The pricing is reasonable plus you can take home any leftovers. My husband, son, vegan niece, and I enjoyed our Valentine’s Day treat this past Sunday. We will be back soon!

Awesome Dim Sum for Salinas! A little pricey for small portions but definitely worth ever morsel. Most quality dim sum places charge the same. The place is very spacious and clean and the hot tea tastes good as well. Not just bland hot water with a reused teabag. My bf and I ordered the pork buns, shrimp dim sum, pork dim sum, sesame balls, and veggie wonton soup and hot tea. At the end one of the waiters brought us a warm bun filled an egg custard. Everything tasted so good!!! Will definitely support local business again.

Andrea and I just ate a fab dim sum lunch at Dim Sum Inn today. Considering that it was a five minute drive from our house in Salinas, it was amazing. Measured against the very best in the Bay Area, meaning M.Y. China, Hong Kong Flower Lounge, Zen, Little Shanghai, and the best in San Francisco, it comes up short. But because it isn’t a three-hour round-trip, well, super. We had Shanghai dumplings, Char Sui Boy, Stuffed Jalapeño, Sticky Rice, Won Ton Soup, Shrimp Rice Noodle, and Stuffed Tofu. We sampled each and packed the rest to go. We’ll be back!

I don’t know, maybe it’s just the Asian in me talking but I really like eating here. If your looking for really fine dining it’s not here but for good food you’ll get it here. And compared to the other Chinese restaurants in the area, they are definitely better.

Thinking this would have been a good spot for Dim Sum, but not worth the price. All the food plates are reasonable price but the Dim Sum and the soups are way over priced. 3 piece har gow for 6 bucks, no thank you. For 6 bucks you should be able to get 3 containers full of har gow. Will give this place another try if the time(price) is right.

The quality of the dished has gone down hill since it opened. The quality of the traditional dim sum dishes were decent before; now is pretty poor, despite the high price. $ 16.99 roast duck had a tiny portion and low quality cut of meat, lots and lots of fat. A $ 13.99 lunch special with shrimps and bok choy, other than the fact that the shrimps were big and fresh, everything was poorly done, sauce is not good, low quality jasmine rice and bok choy over cooked. I like the eagle a lot. Perhaps for this one they are still trying to figure out what they want to do. The environment and service were good. Love the comfortable chairs. Two adults and two small children ordered 5 small dim sum dishes, one roast duck and one shrimp lunch special, some tea, $ 66 plus tip, $ 78. Well, it’s the holidays. It’s not the waiters s fault that the food is not that great. I probably won’t go back.

Service is friendly and very helpful. Our orders took awhile to come out, and the first two dishes to come out were the desserts that we held off till the end. We ordered the har gow, pork siu mai, fried fish, fried shrimp balls, steamed char siu bao(BBQ pork buns), pot stickers, sticky rice, egg custard tarts and sesame balls(jin dui). Everything was fantastic. The pork buns were saltier than my tastes bids liked, but the rest of the family liked them. The fish and jin dui were not greasy at all. Crust on the egg custard tarts was very flaky and the whole tart was delicious. All dim sum dishes are $ 5.50 each, for 3 – 4 pieces, depending on the dish. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive than the good dim sum places in the Bay area. However, it’s worth it not to have to drive up to San Jose or points north. We will definitely visit this place again!

There’s something to say about a dim sum spot that is empty on a sunday morning. Don’t waste your time or your money, they’re swindling you! Prices are like 2−3x more than dim sum should be. 8.50 for egg flower soup? That’s some broth and an egg… crazy ridiculous for really basic Chinese food

A lot of reviews say this place is «okay for Salinas», I disagree! Overall, this place is pretty good, regardless of location. Yes, the plates are $ 5.50 each, but the piece sizes are far bigger than the average traditional cart-service restaurants in the Bay Area. Perhaps the only drawback, the selection is not as vast. However, the basics and favorites are well represented. Tip: the menu may say«melon sesame seed balls», but they have replaced it with the red bean paste! If you live or are passing through Salinas/Monterey Bay and crave dim sum, come here! The restaurant is clean and the staff and service are also on point!

The food is mediocre. it’s not too bad, especially considering that there are no good chinese restaurants in Monterey County. Prices are disproportionately high for the quality though. Most dim sums are $ 5. For $ 3 – 4 per plate, one can get much better quality dim sums in the Bay Area. The steamed pork, tofu roll with pork and shrimp are bad. Shrimp dumpling, roasted duck, and rice noodle roll are ok. Chow fun is so so. Fried rice is too soggy. Overall, it’s mediocre and its dim sums are over priced. I may eat there again simply because it’s local and there are few choices here in Monterey /Salinas area.

I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear about this place. Dim Sum without the drive North, or even further South(think L.A., Orange County) this could literally rock my world. And now having tried the place I’m reeling my enthusiasm in just a bit. I give it many kudos, the place is clean, bright, extremely welcoming and the staff in their denim shirt uniforms were attentive without being overbearing. The menu is not extensive but what we tried came out hot(pet peeve of mine is cold or lukewarm dim sum) and very tasty. Not quite the refined dim sum of Hong Kong, Shanghai or Taipei but solid in authenticity. I wish they had turnip cake(my absolute favorite dim sum dish) but I get you can’t have everything. The reason I can only give this place 3 stars is the pricing. I’m not sure why everything is one price and on the high side at that $ 5.50/dish. I think a tiered system is better, shrimp, meat dishes may be more but simple items should be less. Pricing threw us because on the regular/dinner menu it’s marked $ 6.50 and we didn’t even noticed the $ 5.50 on the dim sum menu until we got our check. We didn’t order anything but dim sum but noticed that other items were pretty pricey too, $ 10.99 for fried rice? I’m glad they’re here, I wish them much success but I don’t think I’ll be a regular unless prices come down.

Excellent! I’ve been waiting for it to open. Sam told me it was in the works a while back. As a fan and regular of Eagle(26 W. Alisal) I knew Dim Sum Inn was going to be good with the same owners at the helm. It’s bright, spacious and super clean. The menu has many Dim Sum favorites and just about everything Eagle has too. Try the Shanghai style pork dumplings! If you like lamb at all(I’m a lamb addict), their Mongolian lamb is a must. Prices are reasonable. Service was attentive and thorough. We’re already planning our next visit.

So if you are familiar with Eagle Restaurant off alisal these are the same owners. My family and I are regulars at the Eagle establishment. The food is consistently delicious. Dim Sum inn is a new take of eagle. From entry modern design and great finishing noted to the décor. Very spacious great place to hold party or meal after an event. Can accommodate moderate size party. Extremely clean. Staff and owner very welcoming. Owner very provides local feel and remembers regulars and their orders. Ok the food. We are avid«Asian» food followers, consider our kids will guarantee eat. My wife and I compared the flavor of the chicken chow fun that we order every single visit at eagle. Very similar quality possibly larger portion given the dish is served in a deep bowl. We noted that possibly they are using new woks and the flavor has yet to get established as eagles are. To the dim sum. The owner stated the dim sum is made fresh and not ordered and frozen as many dim sum fast foods chains do. The quality is great, no nausea noted after the meal secondary to Msg other Chinese restaurants use to enhance flavor. We ordered nearly all shrimp dishes, chicken wings, the pork dumpling with soup in it, custard bun. Har gow was my daughter and my favorite, my wife enjoyed the rolled noodle dim sum. The egg plant and jalepeno were both good but didn’t care much for the sauce which was sweet. Finally the value. Be prepared to spend 25 or more a person. By far not cheap. Unless you plan to only get one dish. I would give the place a 4.4 to 5 but I just feel it is overpriced. One menu has the dim sum 6.50 a dish another has it listed at 5.50 a dish. We were charged 5.50, which is 2 – 2.50 more than what would be fair. Our bill was 75 dollars with tip for two adults and 3 kids that shared one dish. So in closing go check it out. Food is delicious just be prepared to empty your wallet. Will go back just not as frequently as we do eagle.

Awesome… I have been waiting for month for this place to open, the first time I saw that work permit in the window. It’s finally open and it was worth it. The dim sum is made fresh and very tasty. The Shanghai style port dumplings(aka soup dumplings) were juicy and satisfying. Of course, could not pass up some of my favorites: Shrimp Dumplings, pork and shrimp dumplings, and rice noodle roll. My guest and I tried the taro and chicken dumplings, which were tasty with a little bit of sriracha. They also have on the menu, BBQ pork or chicken buns, as well as noodle dishes and soup. As for beverages: sodas, tea, beer, wine, and sake, however really tea is the way to really enjoy dim sum. Overall, the food is excellent and satisfying. There are three TV’s so you can watch game. The real kicker here, is that his place is the same owners of Eagle Restaurant in Oldtown Salinas. Make sure you say«Hi» to Sam. He will be around to get this place off the ground. Looking to come back and check out all the noodles.
