Lots of parking, plenty of room for everyone. Decent concessions. I wished they would do the events one at a time rather than two at a time. I can’t watch barrel racing and bull riding at the same time.

I have enjoyed going previous years and might go this year if my cowgirl shirt fits now that I am prego. I like the Kiddie Corral for my son and going to watch the Rodeo during the day. I’ve also enjoyed PBR, it’s pretty entertaining. On the other hand I thought the Drinking Corral was Overpriced and Overrated too. You see not only do u pay for admission into the Rodeo, but then you have to pay admission into the Drinking Corral and pay for your drinks. VERYPRICEY and not worth it. Some people enjoy it because it’s «a high school reunion» but really? for that you can call all your former friends and meet at Applebees; just sayin’ Other than that the rest is good.

I bought my husband two tickets to the Rodeo earlier this year. We were seated in seats 4, 5 section 16 C. My husband is pure Scottish and from Dallas Texas. He brought and wore his Stetson that he keeps in pristine condition in the Red and Black Stetson Box. But he also wore his Brooks Brother dark blue polo shirt, Armani watch and Cartier wallet. Yes it was a hoot. The rodeo is located in the stadium in Salinas. We parked about a block away from the entrance. Minus one star because it doesn’t say park in rear. All you can do is follow the massive line of cars driving to park on a grassy area in the rear of the stadium. There were vendors selling various mexican foods such as enchiladas, churros, tacos, nachos and burritos, and then there were vendors selling rodeo and western wear, cowboy hats, cowboy and cow girl shirts. We bought a cowboy hat for our son Matthew in black to match my husbands cowboy hat. We also took a picture of both of them on a bull(fake of course for 20.00). All in all, they had bullriding, horse racing, wagon racing, musical entertainment, clowns, alot of food and souvenirs. I loved that they had a corral for the kids. But I will take Matthew there when he turns 2. We had a great time and I will take them again next year.

Yeehaw! It’s that time of year again! It’s RODEO time! If you’re looking for something different and new to do, try visiting Salinas’ Centennial rodeo which I’m sure will be special! The event dates are July 15 — 18, 2010. I used to go to the rodeo every summer growing up in Salinas. It’s a taste of the old West and cowboy culture and even a part of California history! Highlights are the competitions and the BBQ! Lowlights… you might feel uncomfortable with how the bucking broncos, roped calves, and bulls might be treated but rest assured the owners love their animals and they are well cared for. Check out their website for more information.
