Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel

Sadly to say, I have been staying in this overly priced motel for 5 yrs, I have been bitten by bed bugs in denial it might of been the motel bed bugs. Knowing the front desk person for 2 yrs. His attitude changed dramatically. Owner does not recognize his customers with a stone washed attitude. I asked the front desk clerk for a late check out possibly 1pm. He said in a very cold voice. Check out is at 12pm you’ll have to pay for another day. I am sure this comment is well appreciated by owner or management, wife was sick and I wanted her to sleep a tad longer. I guess they are making their money now… they really do not care about returning customers. COOL! Never coming back again. Remember! What goes around comes around! Guess the highway and new McDonald’s built across the way has brought them enough visibility to treat their returning customers like crap!!. Needless to say their very uncomfortable motel beds and standard synthetic GMO breakfest. Overly priced wanna be hotel. If I am going to pay for this attitude might as well stay else where. Since we own our own business and treat our customers like diamonds. Might rub off on us. Thought we were helping another small business. This will be deffenitly the last! Farewell and best of luck! Btw. Not upset suprised. Minus a star! Ooh. other reviews are absolutely correct about the loud AC and frig they forgot to mention the bathroom loud fan. Their has been tons of improvement tho. Wishing improvement could be made on customer retainment, front desk courtesy as well.

This BW is located on a street with many motels. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. The room was very roomy and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, and the room had fridge, microwave and mini coffee maker. We were close to the ice machine and elevator but it was still very quiet.

Larry was the guy at the front desk when we first checked in; he could not have been more helpful and turn this on to some great eateries in the area. However, upon returning to the room we found the place to be quite noisy, a 1^st floor room with elephants dancing above us, and a very loud meeting in the parking lot outside of our bedroom at 5:45 in the morning. Trying trying to get back to sleep, we get a knock on the door at 6:40 a.m., the person announces «front desk» and barges into the room while we were still in bed. There was not a three second span for the time she knocked to the time she entered. I later confronted her at the front desk she was apologetic yet indignant and told me that she was under the understanding that the room was vacant and she came in to make sure the lights were off. This was the worst motel /​hotel experience we’ve had in quite a while especially at the price and I’ll not be staying here again, nor would I recommend it.

Because of the customer service I’ll give this a 5 starts, room are clean and spacious, excellent location right off hwy 101

Nice hotel for the money. Note that this is one if two BW hotels almost next door to each other. This is the light-​gray colonial style one. Clean modern room. Friendly staff.

Larry at the frontdesk is probably the most unhelpful hotel employee I’ve ever met.
I mistakenly booked a stay at this hotel a week in advance from when I was staying. I learned of my mistake when checking in late one evening. Despite paying for a new reservation and actually staying at this hotel, they refused to cancel and refund the incorrect booking that was a week in the future.
Given that there are a half a dozen other hotels, including another Best Western, on this block, there is no reason to stay at this hotel.

BED BUGS — Please be aware, this is not a clean hotel

Very outdated hotel, gym equipment nearly killed me, the cables were damaged. Clean rooms, good service at reception.

Stayed here with my three year old during Memorial Day because both Monterey and Santa Cruz were booked (last minute trip idea of course). Very clean and quiet — and our room was next to the elevator — yet still nice and quiet.
Very helpful and helpful front staff and super comfortable bed.
Good place to stay if you want to visit both Santa Cruz and Monterey during the weekend.

I am going to have to give this hotel five stars. I stayed here for three months for work. This hotel was really clean. They do a great job. I never saw hair left in the bathroom as well as the beds.
