Left the interstate while traveling through and went all the way into town to come here and it’s not even open. I wish businesses would keep their websites and Unilocal stuff updated… :-/

On a road trip from Missouri to Colorado, this was the perfect pit stop to have lunch and relax for a bit. Moka’s has excellent décor and atmosphere! It seems to be a very popular lunch spot for local workers, mostly full of stylish middle aged ladies but still seems relevant for the younger crowd. There’s nothing overly cutesy about Moka’s except for the adorable sliced apple that accompanied my grilled cheese. My husband’s black bean burger was clearly homemade and he enjoyed the waffle fries as well. The only black mark on this review(which takes off 1 whole star) is the fact that I ordered a latte featured on their menu as «special flavor of the day» and during our 15 minute wait and 20 minute meal, and despite asking the girl who brought out our food, I still never received the latte. I wound up waiting in line behind a dozen people only to be told the counter girl(who was very polite but apparently overworked) was«trying to get to the drinks next». I got a refund so I can’t tell you what their coffee drinks are like.

**Go before 2pm if you want more than coffee and pastries.**Mokas has a surprisingly large dining area with high ceilings and inviting décor reminiscent of a Panera Bread café. Free WiFi. A good salad bar– wraps, sandwiches, hot paninis, and burgers are also offered for lunch. The chicken noodle soup was mediocre, probably canned.

Upscale café coffee shop. Lots to choose from. Try the sandwiches before the burgers. Will be back!

Nicely laid out, and the coffee was very good. The locaion was also good. We stopped by for coffee and a baked goody mid-afternoon. The baked goods were limited and not labeled, but my chocolate muffin was first rate. Good atmosphere.

Went here for lunch with my wife’s grandmother. The food was very good, sort of upscale café-style. I had a Reuben sandwich with the chicken tortilla soup, and my wife had a chicken salad with cranberries, bacon, almonds, and raspberry vinaigrette. The Reuben came on a fresh marble rye bread and had plenty of meat. The salad was good too with fresh, warm grilled chicken. The soup definitely had a kick, but I enjoyed it. Lemon bars were great — very dense crust with a light sweet lemon-y topping. They also have a salad bar, which we didn’t try but it looked good. The décor was nice, very trendy/modern. Wait staff was friendly. I thought the prices were maybe a little bit high for sandwiches/salads($ 8), but not outrageous.

This place has the best pastries, and everything is so fresh. I’ve had their lemon bars, cookies, and coconut cake. I think they make the best sugar cookies in the world; they just melt in your mouth. Mmmm, like butta’! The ambience is great. It’s an old building downtown and very cozy. Also, the employees are very friendly and nice about recommending the different menu items.

I usually go to the crawford location, but either way it is the same company and this place is terrible. Every time I come here something is messed up, missing or undercooked. They are extremely slow and the supervisor i spoke to, Barb, was very very rude. She didn’t make eye contact with me, smile or even apologize when i told her i was sent home with a raw pancake in my order. She acted like there was something wrong with me or i was over-reacting when i asked for a refund. She didn’t even say«how can i help you?» when she came up to the counter. Just stood there and stared at me like«what do you want?» Then when she finally brought me my money(15 minutes later) she handed it to me and walked away with no apology. I even stood there calling her name trying to get her attention so i could say something about her terrible service and she walked away and pretended like she didn’t hear me. Overall, this place is the WORST and i am telling everyone i know to never ever go here. Not worth the price or the wait!

Stopped in with Classy Mike for lunch one sunny afternoon during our road trip from New York to Los Angeles. They said it couldn’t be done — «No one can find a place to stop for lunch in Kansas!» «Greater men than you have died trying!» «Just forget you even thought about it!» And now, we laugh in their faces. My northeast-snob self was initially turned off by Moka’s vast, school cafeteria-like layout and ambiance, but this place is actually pretty good. The chicken salad sandwich I got was way, way better than it had any right to be. It came with a choice of sides, for which I chose an apple. «Would you like it sliced?» I didn’t see that coming. Yes, yes I would like it sliced. And sliced it came, and I felt so childishly taken care of, in a wonderful way. They even have WiFi, not a telephone hookup to a 14.4 modem like I had assumed. And lest you think nothing happens in Salina, Kansas — the theater down the street was advertising a show featuring the banjo playing of none other than Mr. Steve Martin! Food: 16⁄25 stars Ambiance: 16⁄25 stars Service: 25⁄25 stars Bathroom: 22⁄25 stars Probability of going back: Why would I ever go back to Salina, Kansas?

We were driving across country and looked up some places on Unilocal!Decided to go here based on the reviews. Great choice as we thought the service was great and was pleasntly surprised at the number of vegetarian options.

Mokas has two shops here in Salina the other one is on crawford down by Ohio street. They are kindof expencive if you want a specialty or frozen favorite. However durring the winter season hot specialtys are ½ off and vice versa for summer/frozen! The best frozen is the frappé royal. Happy Drinking

nice downtown location near all the antique shops. it seems like a local hangout for breakfast or brunch. Salina is a small, backwards sort of town in the middle of nowhere, Kansas. i dont suggest going to Salina if you can avoid it. but if you do, this café is the closest thing to starbucks within at least 90 miles. they offer a regular roast and a flavored roast which i loved. it was pumpkin spice flavored coffee. the girl at the counter was super nice and seemed to know everyone by name.
