A consignment store with wine tasting — a genius business idea! We stopped by after having drinks at Woods next door for a spot of retail therapy. However, we were immediately drawn to the local wine tasting in the back! The store owner, Terry, was just amazing! She reminded me of an old friend whom I haven’t seen in a long time. $ 5 will get you 8 samples of the Vino Salida wines! It’s just too good to be true! The store is meticulously organized and had a good selection of gently used clothes. I found this beautiful black dress for only $ 30 but it’s not my size. My friend managed to score a really nice Cabella’s hunter green sweater for only $ 16! It’s small businesses like this and their great customer service that make Salida a truly special place in Colorado where you can really get to know the locals!

Ok selection of clothes, but really hard to tell sizes on anything unless you open up every single item to find a tag. Not a good return on items if you are a consigner!

This is probably my favorite vintage clothing store in the US. I travel all over as I have the wanderlust in my soul, so when I found this place last year/or the year before that, I knew I had found my home and my people. I bought Terri’s soap last fall and it lasted me all winter… The perfect combination of silky and smelly(in the best kind of way). I always find something there That I can’t live with out… From vintage boots and jackets, train cases from the 40s &50s, one of a kind|handmade jewelry, and the best clothing for 20 – 40 somethings(maybe beyond to 50 somethings who are trying to escape J Jill and Cold Water Creek) and art pieces… I take an hour to step slowly around all the racks and admiring all the clothes –even if they aren’t my size… They are all unique and little individual pieces of beauty. In one, corner are a handful of vintage instruments… Sigh. If I only had Money to buy little gems like the mid 69s era Harmony guitar that I saw today. While I was there today I made friends with Terri, the soap maker|shop girl and owner of the store with her husband and songwriter, greg. Maybe it’s been a long cold winter but everyone was super chatty and just seemed genuinely happy to be alive. I like that. We got to talking and we found out we are both musicians and … Well I’m now down the street at Shllots listening to Terri and Greg’s supper cluby|gypsy jazz trio… The sun’s going down, there is a light breeze blowing down east first and if there is a better town or people in America, I don’t know where it is or where they could be… I love Salida. I could write another book on Ruby’s vintage store on the corner, too. Great finds, awesome shop guy and even better vinyl. And… Go eat at Little Cambodia… Num, num, num.

Make sure to stop by Wanderlust — the best clothing selection in Salida, from hip to casual. I’m always amazed by Salida’s bonanza of used clothing stores(there are several). Eclectic stuff, well organized and affordable prices. Wanderlust is definitely my favorite — both for buying and selling. Wish I had a photo to post of the fab gold slippers I bought the other day. Or the faux-fur hat. My two favorite summer shirts came from Wanderlust. They also have great jewelry and various artsy accoutrements. Enjoy!
