Loved this place. Stopped in for some snacks after a day of skiing. Left with some amazing cheese and meats! Great selection of goat and cow cheese!

Well, pretty much everything you’re looking for in natural, foodie, organic Colorado can be found here. The shop is really cute — part café and part little store selling all kinds of local yummy products. There’s also a really nice patio space if it’s nice outside. We stopped in kind of between breakfast and lunch and treated ourselves to a really tasty brunch. For me, I got the egg salad sandwich on rosemary bread, which blew my expectations out of the water — especially the rosemary bread. If you don’t really like rosemary, don’t get. But if you do, totally absolutely get. I really had visions of buying a loaf of the bread and sitting down with a really good bottle of olive oil. Delicious. My husband got some tamales, which he reported as good. There are a lot of nice touches, like mason jar glasses for water and a good assortment of salsas to accompany your meal. The price was ridiculously reasonable. We all ate a lot of food for a grand total of like $ 26.Staff was friendly and helpful. Great stop.

Hospitable, patio is puppy friendly, tap beer is very tasty, lunch specials are delicious. I tried the Rosemary rolls and cinnamon almond cran bread, it was delightful. Very friendly place.

Got a fantastic piece of beet cake. Returned to buy a years supply of pinto beans and popcorn. We will shop here more often as everything is locally sourced, the staff is friendly, samples are provided, and they even have craft beer and hard cider on tap. This place is what paradise looks like!

Staying in the area for a week, so stopped in for some fresh produce for that night’s dinner. The selection was not as good as I’d expected, but it was late afternoon and I’d imagine a lot of it is bought up in the morning. Nice bakery goods… we got two baguettes, one white and one whole grain, and both were great. Deli stuff looked delish, so going with an empty stomach next time. Cool little market.

Ploughboy is such a treasure for Salida! Everything in the store is a product of Colorado, most things being local or very close to local. Fresh, delicious produce, a great little deli area, and some other great things like vegan, gluten free cookie dough, delicious gluten free breads, yummy soups, and other great Colorado products. Awesome selection and quality. Their bakery’s bread is sooo delicious, too. Try their Rosemary bread, you’ll love it! Stop in for some fresh food, yummy treats, and to support local businesses.

This is one of those places where you need a moments orientation before you realize it is a locavore grocery with a deli. The food is not terribly fancy, but it’s FRESH and DELICIOUS. If they have Beet cake, try it —(imagine carrot cake, but with beets…). The breads are simply amazing, next time we come through Salida, we will have to bring a cooler to take more stuff home. Exceptional.

This innovative and original foodie emporium is a huge upgrade for Salida. Superb Colorado cheeses are featured, many of them from goat’s milk. Hooray! Local breads are very good. Loads of prepared items and farmers market produce, plus daily specials and much more. Make Ploughboy your first and last destination every day when you are here.

This is a GREAT place to find locally sourced products(salsa, jams, breads, fruits, meats, you name it.) On our recent trip to Salida, we wanted to find somewhere we could pick up a fresh sandwich and a few items before getting back on the road to go home. I guess I was expecting more of a made-to-order deli, but they had pre-made sandwiches in a case. I’m usually hesitant about this because I immediately think«soggy,» but the girl at the counter offered to panini-press the sandwich and it was great. We split the Rocky Mountain Cubano(featuring grass-fed summer sausage from Manassa, CO– yum!). We also split some au gratin potatoes, made with raw goat cheese. The seating area is right in the middle of the store– and I kind of felt in the way while eating there. If eating in public isn’t your thing, you might take yours to go. The summer sausage was so good we picked some up to have for later. They also had samplings from the bakery and their sourdough bread was to die for– but since I had recently bought a bread maker I figured I should just try my own :) We also stopped next door at their beautiful tasting room and sampled some ciders from Paonia. We’ve been to the actual cidery, and prices at Ploughboy were actually lower which was a nice surprise. **They don’t accept credit cards– only cash or check. Initially, when I didn’t think I had either, the woman at the counter suggested just paying another time and not to worry about it(which was extremely generous)…luckily I had one spare check in my wallet. Tasting room did take cards.
