We love it here! It’s fun. It’s beautiful. It’s romantic! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of animals on the property that make a beautiful walk more interesting ! Longhorns, white deer, horses both large and small! Ponds to fish and woods to hunt! And a camel named Carl! We want to ride the horses and shoot clay next time we come in November. We stayed in August, returned in October and the foliage is beautiful. In November we shall hunt whitetail. Excellent find with rustic cabins or lovely suites — breakfast too!

Although the view is beautiful and the furnishings lovely, this B&B needs a whole new management and staff and chefs. Greeted by a young girl in daisy duke shorts who gave us a master key to all the rooms(??). Our room had dirty floors, broken towel rack, no closet or drawers to store clothes. Broken CD player. The main common area floors were dirty, tables dusty, downstairs dining area carpet stained and dirty, tables dirty. Dinner was nothing special, no wine offered, water and ice tea only, steamed veggies were raw, salad very small, no ambiance at all. Cheese cake with Hersheys syrup. Breakfast was burnt potatoes, 2tbs. of scrambled eggs, 3 links, and a cold chocolate chip pancake. Couldnt sleep in because the staff as well as the owner occupied the common area kitchen and talked about their weekends, fights with wife, and the owner was the worst with phone calls to clients, lawyers, bankers, brokers, etc in a loud, overbearing tone that can be heard through the floor, which is their ceiling. Staff seemed unhappy and unattentive, going through the motions. They left the music on one night and we couldnt find the stereo to turn it off so had to listen to rock all night. No apologies the next day. Our reservation for horseback riding was never relayed to the stable. Nothing to drink there except water and coffee so you better bring your own beverages of any kind. Chips, pretzels, cookies to eat but nothing else so if you get hungry you have to drive 25 minutes into Cambridge or starve between meals. Hot tub water was murky. After 8pm the staff leaves so if there is an emergency you are out of luck and on your own. Mr. D. may know his way around acquiring property and cattle but he doesnt know anything about running a B&B nor does his staff.

Stay was nice. Service could be better. Staff could be friendlier and more service oriented. Overall a very nice lodge. Just need to make all guest feel special. Oh… no wine at dinner just excuses about how the vender did not ship the wine order.(Hey…go buy some wine in town cut out the excuses) … plus carry in my bags for these prices I should be greeted upon arrival. … Make me feel special.

I was worried about our stay after having read the reviews, but my LivingSocial deal was already purchased so we went anyways. Overall, I was very pleased. Pros: room clean, nice, and as described, delicious and plentiful dinner, decent breakfast, awesome views, no problem finding it using our GPS, liked seeing the animals Cons: didn’t know the breakfast was at 9am(late in my opinion) so we missed it the first day because we had already made plans, no housekeeping(although I’m sure we could have asked for more towels), sunset horseback ride was a rip-off(sun was behind the trees the whole time, just go on the normal ride for cheaper) We would definitely go back.

So this place has several ups and downs. I wish I could give it 5 stars for the view and ambiance but it has some big upsets. The rooms were cozy, each with their own layout and decorations. A beautiful spacious kitchen with wood floors and an island with an 8 burner stove top. The common room had a leather couches and chairs seated in front of a fireplace, a small sitting area with a large 50 inch jumbo screen TV. There were 2 balconies in the front and back of the common room along with 2 dining tables on either side of the kitchen. The decorations were very country, lots of bulldog statues, indians, mountaineers, and lots of hanging animals like deer, fox furs and some interesting birds. I really enjoyed the deer antler chandeliers found all over the place. We booked the Ford room which was small not much flare but had the biggest TV of all the rooms, probably a compensation. We had a queen bed, high off the floor, a great view of the 550 acre farm but a small balcony 2 chairs, maybe 4ft by 8ft. The bathroom was spacious indeed though. Shower with 2 seats on either side, double vanity sink and a spacious jacuzzi tub. The toilet was oddly by itself in the corner with nothing but some magazines to read. I guess the openess made me feel like i wasn’t in private even though the door was closed. I’m used to filling boxed in on the toilet like how stalls It was a little weird. The towels were very soft as well unlike the overly starchy ones at most hotels. So the pros and cons: Pros: Great breakfast with variety each morning. Wonderful view inside and out lodge. Friendly and courteous staff. Cons: Very loud. Difficult to locate Dinner was horrible. So after all the positives, I half to start with the trip there. GPS had the wrong direction so we ended up in a run down trailer first. We noticed the sign that pointed to pine lakes so we followed. The hill was very windy and there were so many turnoffs that we almost got lost again. We slid a little going up the hill but it’s winter time. By the time we reached the top I noticed the lodge which had a very small lot only fit for about 6 cars. The flooring is literally an inch and a half thick so the ceiling and the floor above the the ceiling are the same piece of wood. This was very annoying because at 7:30am i could here the owner and his handlers talking about updates for the farm. It sounded like they were right outside our door. The other guest assumed it was one of us talking and we all discovered how thin the floors and walls really are. Lucky for us we had the upper room so i didn’t have to hear noise above me but now the noise came from below. It sucks that a simple conversation a normal pitch can be heard through the floor. Breakfast was great, my favorite meal of the day but dinner was unbelievably horrible. We had made reservations when we first booked the room and it was $ 30 a person. Dinner included a small tossed salad, main entrée with mixed veggies a baked potato, and cheesecake. The salad was good and the dessert was as well but the main course I greatly regretted. Hubby ordered beef tips and I ordered Salmon. The beef tips were very tough, probably over cooked, no flavor, dry not even steak sauce would help these out. My salmon tasted like salmon, no special sauce or tangy flavor. Mixed veggies were too soft as if they boiled them for too long and the baked potato… very very undercooked. The chef told us — by us i mean the 4 couples who attended– that the potatoes needed to cook longer and i watched him take the bowl of 8 potatoes upstairs to cook them in the microwave. Eww, our potatoes were so hard and starchy, not even baked properly. To be a chef I would expect better but he was drenching in sweat and looked like one of the normal farmers. None of the other guest enjoyed their food either. One couple said there baked potato was good but they must have eaten the ones on top of the bowl. Definitely not worth $ 60, I was better off going to an Applebees, too bad there weren’t any around :( The one upside to this place is that they have a camel which I had no idea could survive the cold climate but hey i guess it gets pretty cold at night in the desert. He loves potato chips so he eats them right out of your hand if you get a chance to get him close enough. Keep your palms flat, it’s easier for him to eat that way. I love how his big lips just swallow the chips right up. I would visit this place again but only if I slept in a room further from the kitchen and skipped the dinner next time.

My husband and I stayed there last weekend for his birthday, we found it through Living Social. When we checked in Michael was great! Very friendly! The lodge was cute, we had no problems until the next morning. The bed was extremely hard, and they supplied only a light blanket, we ended up pretty cold during the night. We had read reviews about the noise, so we were prepared, but the noise from the people above us was more than we expected. Be prepared to rise when they rise. While we were getting ready the following morning, the ceiling above the living area started to leak pretty bad. My husband called the number on the sheet in the room(we didn’t know if anyone would even be at the front desk since they leave at 9 pm and who knows when they get in), someone came to our door and said«The people above you didn’t close the shower curtain all the way. Sorry.» And that’s all we got. Luckily we didn’t store anything in that area or I would have really been pissed. When we were checking out, the girl was highlighting our receipt for who knows what reason. She asked how our time was, we said it was fine until the ceiling was leaking all over this morning. She said nothing. No apologies, NOTHING. She handed us our receipt and sent us on our way. If we received at least a sincere apology, maybe this review would be different. But the only positive experience we had there was with Michael checking in. We will not be back.

Pine Lakes Lodge is beautiful! My boyfriend and I spent one night here in November. It rests at the top of a large hill which provides a gorgeous view of what you might think to be Switzerland! Each room has its own private balcony and a large jacuzzi. There are also PONIES.
